petros Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Plot twist: Mike and Tré quit and join Sum 41 whilst Billie Joe sits in the corner and screams "WE WERE ON A BREAK" hahahahaha that's the funniest thing I read here for months!
Milo Goes To Pasalacqua Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 So it will be another while before any new material. Fair enough, we waited 5 years for 21CB and about 3 after that for the trilogy so i'd say we're used to GD taking a while to come up with new stuff. This is good, whatever they put out in the future might be better thought-out. I'd rather they take their time. And the band needs a break.
The Disappearing Boy Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 "Band takes break between touring and recording" Breaking news right there! Iain I'm gunna punch u in the throat Disclaimer: This is obviously sarcasm, I pray to god you have seen my status and understand the joke. Reported for making a joke.
OhTheGuilt. Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 I kinda expected It after the trilogy to be honest.. I'm sad cause I'd probably see them for the first time in years from now.. Carpe Diem It's not my battle cry I guess
Fuzz Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 I changed the title as to not sound overdramatic, here's the interview with Billie Joe http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01mf0hn Those other places are really blownig up a non-nonchalant comment. This break will be exactly like that which happened between the last album and the trilogy. Green Day weren't doing anything or working together for a while as Billie Joe worked with the musical and Mike played some music with the Frustrators. They all just do their own thing for a bit then come back together.
stich Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 I think it's a little early; they only tour a year for the trilogy, it's the shortest tour ever
alexandra_1039 Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 hmm, well i was looking forward to an dookie/american idiot anniversary tour but if they need a break then thats fine too. And it's not like it's gonna be some ungodly amount of time, remember in cuatro billie said "taking too much time off seems dangerous" or something along those lines. So we shouldn't worry too much. it was a simple comment! definitely not a break-up!
Hero_Of_The_Hour Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Saw this coming after the show at Leeds...not suprised.
ThranaM Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 As long as we get some live footage from the australia tour or a dvd im fine
alexandra_1039 Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Saw this coming after the show at Leeds...not suprised. what do you mean?
Hero_Of_The_Hour Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 what do you mean? Oh I just mean at the end of the show when he said it was the last gig they would be playing for a "very very long fucking time" I had a feeling with the exception of the few gigs in Australia they would be taking a break. I said as much that night too. Also felt that it was a little sad when he sang Walk Away. I know they'll be back just not for a while so I felt it that night and said it.
Sarcasm Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 The thing is though, I thought he would do a little Foreverly tour with Norah Jones. I guess thats off the table, or is it going on?
MaraGreenDay Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Well the only thing that makes me sad is that now my hopes to finally see them live are dead But i think it's a good thing, after what happen it's good that they take more time to rest, be with the family, work in other projects, especially for Bllie. I'm sure their comeback is gong to be better than ever. Good luck Green Day!!!
jacknovella Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 The thing is though, I thought he would do a little Foreverly tour with Norah Jones. I guess thats off the table, or is it going on? I don't think they have anything planned for it. Not sure how well it would translate to a live performance either, didn't they talk about how they had to face each other the whole time so they got their harmonies right or something? Maybe it just wouldn't work as well in front of an audience. I imagine Billie Joe would find it pretty strange not interacting with the audience as well. Who knows though? Time will tell I guess
Clean Cut Asshole Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 It's just a break, they'll decide to come back eventually.
Lindsay Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 I'm honestly not surprised by this at all. Billie seems to have a lot going on at the moment and it'd be hard for him to do Green Day stuff as well. Excited to see what they've got rolled up their sleeves once they make their comeback though! I have a feeling whatever's coming next is going to be awesome. I mean, compared to the trilogy it better be. I will say I'm pleased that I have more time to save money to blow on them. Well done, GD. This so much! If they had toured this summer there's no way I would have been able to see them. The thing is though, I thought he would do a little Foreverly tour with Norah Jones. I guess thats off the table, or is it going on? Since they're "working on other projects" I wouldn't totally dismiss that idea, you never know! I could see them doing a few shows here and there.
Robin105 Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 This is actually good for me. It gives me time to find a new job, pay off my credit cards and save up money for when they decide to come back. I'm upset about it but it's definetly much needed, and when they do come back they will be better than ever!
Fuzz Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Here's my write-up on GDA, reminding people the sky isn't falling http://www.greendayauthority.com/news/4631/
Ritz Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Plot twist: Mike and Tré quit and join Sum 41 whilst Billie Joe sits in the corner and screams "WE WERE ON A BREAK"
Bubbles. Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 If I'm honest I saw this coming, and I think they need it. They've been going at it non stop and I think a break will be a positive thing. As it's been said already, it's not the first time they've done this and in my opinion it's always had positive effects on the quality of the music they produce, not to mention the positive effects it has on Green Day themselves. I remember on the first night of the 21st Century Breakdown UK tour, it was in Glasgow and to this day it was one of the best performances I've seen, mainly because Green Day were so fucking excited to be there, to be playing music again. They just looked so happy, like they'd missed it so much. They like to work at their own pace, and taking breaks in between albums has always been part of that... and I'm glad because I need time to save.
Ritz Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 They need it. To get creative again and take their time in creating music. Isn't this is what that happened after AI and 21stCB? People need to chill out.
The Disappearing Boy Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Looks like we were right when we said that the Instagram defriending meant something.
ThranaM Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 I don't think the break will be as long as you guys think. I do think that the break will last for a few months before they do a 2nd leg OR some random gigs
Pule92 Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 And this is how Green Day avoids (again) doing a REAL world tour, letting down their South American fans (again).
NaughtyHellGod Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 That's the third band that I like that has broken up or taken a break this year.
