Like many have stated, they do this between every project. They might be writing/thinking up ideas, but no new material is released for a while. It's just the way it works. Nothing new, nothing shocking. No hiatus, no breakup. Time between albums, simple as that. As hard as it is to wait it out, that's part of being a fan. Waiting anxiously and checking GDA every day in hopes that you will see "Green Day working on New Album" or "New song performed", etc. I personally wouldn't mind another Network or Foxboro-style side project, maybe a different genre with some additional members. But in the meantime, I will check GDA everyday. Waiting and hoping for whatever comes next.

Exactly what I thought. They're just taking it easy for a little while so they can be at their best when they start making Green Day music again.

Yeah. Like last time when GD won the EMA for Best Rock act and Billie said "see you on tour soon" (or something like that) and then people spread rumors about a 2nd European tour next year. Like wtf

I think people are bit selfish when it comes to GD concerts you know? Of course fans want them to tour everywhere but it's not possible. I haven't really seen anyone here freak out because of those "news" it's mostly people on FB and twitter.

Oh well, I was kinda hoping for some news about more touring soon, but I guess it's still not out of the question. Their break after Oz might be only a few months. Or Billie might get bored and decide he wants to play some more shows. Anything could happen really. I don't think we can rule out seeing them in 2014 just because of this vague comment.

I'm not even sure what is being discussed at point but things are getting off the topic at hand and drifting into semantics and bickering. Pretty sure everyone who's posting has said what they think of Billie's quote and the fact Green Day are taking a little break already. First of all, like many of you said, I can't see how people are taking the "break" thing as if they were going to split up or something, it's just the regular break in between albums........

But, I didn't think that the break was coming this soon. They normally come to Europe twice in each tour and I still can't believe they're not going to Asia or South America. If I'm angry and upset, I can't believe how these fans are... They said at a few european shows that they were going to come back next year, and now this?... And even more, didn't Mike say at an early interview that they were going to do lots of shows this tour? He said they were doing 3,000 shows or something like that. Of course, it wasn't literal, but I thought it meant they were doing more that just one US leg, one European leg and Australia...... I mean, they can do whatever they want, but they put our hopes up and now comes the letdown...

I still have hope that after the break they decide to do a tour, because it wouldn't really make sense to continue with the trilogy tour, would it? Maybe the summer after this one, before they release a new album, because a new album would mean a) a shitty album in 1/2 years time, b) a great album in +2 years time, and I don't want neither....

I think some people here are forgetting that the reason they toured so much for AI and 21CB is because they were actually successful albums... The Trilogy, as sad as it is to say, was not successful in terms of sales at all, and they're not going to tour for albums that didn't do well sales wise. It's really as simple as that, as much as I was hoping for another leg, it's not surprising the Trilogy era is (potentially) ending here, especially with all the extra projects Billie has going on at the moment. Yes, they said they were going to do more shows - but you can't always take what they say for granted, anything can happen. We don't know how long of a break this is, there could be more shows in 2014 (I'm doubting it, but you never know). I'm hoping they'll take a year or two of rest and come back with an album that will knock everyone off their feet, like AI did when it came out.

Yeah I know. I was asking because I saw some posts of people saying that it was just probably going to be a few months break, like the ones they take in-between legs, instead of in-between albums. Though I think the in-between albums is the most likely one, the other one hasn't been put out, right? Although they should have a tour in mind now if they want to do it before 2015 so... I don't know.
