Malleus Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 It'll probably outsell Tre and Dos eventually. From what I've seen it's getting pretty good reception (as it should, it's a lovely record) and you really have to consider the loyalty of fans of both.
Mar Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 No, it still doesn't have the GD name and although I think they've been doing some smart things for promo, it's not nearly enough. They should do talk shows and maybe some live shows to get people talking about it more.
Bastard of 1967 Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Uno sold 139,000 copies in its first week, Dos had 69,000, Tre had 58,000 copies sold. Do you guys think Foreverly will get more sales than any of those albums? While it has had a good two days in the top 5 on Amazon, I notice it's not very high on the iTunes chart - and of course we don't know how many have sold in stores. Just curious what you guys think will happen since it has fans of both artists going out and purchasing it. I think Foreverly has three things going for it: (1) critical acclaim (2) cross-genre appeal (some Green Day fans, some Norah fans, some Country/Folk buffs, and the all-important AARP/geezer demographic), and (3) adding something fresh and new to something timeless. If either Long Time Gone or Oh So Many Years starts getting airplay (both are *very* radio friendly as well as very well-executed) it's got a fair shot at commercial success that would surpass the trilogy. It's going to outsell American Idiot. No, it still doesn't have the GD name and although I think they've been doing some smart things for promo, it's not nearly enough. They should do talk shows and maybe some live shows to get people talking about it more. Agree that they need to do some talk shows and a small scale live performance "mini-tour". The two of them are just so damn cute together that the personality appeal alone will help sell this. Then again, from the outset they did this simply because they wanted to try the challenge. The fact that it actually came out good is secondary, and even more so whether Warner's able to sell the thing.
Heather. Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 At least if it bombs we've all got something Green Day related we can be hipster about. It's been so difficult since American Idiot took off. You could arguably do that with the trilogy... LOL I kind of like this thought. I want Foreverly to do well but I like having something to be hipster about with Green Day. Although you could call the trilogy a "cult" thing, I think most of us can't be comfortably hipster about it because we all WANTED the trilogy to do well and it didn't. This one, since expectations are so random, we won't be disappointed if it's just a little album. I love the idea that Norah Jones is a "stocking filler". That's so true. There are just certain types of albums you buy people as Christmas presents, and this is one of them Also, Norah Jones is THE biggest selling female artist of the 00-10 decade. That may come as a shock to many people but her big album sold 26 million copies alone, and the followup also went diamond. Girl sells with little frills.
Elena Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Oops, my bad don't worry, i understood it wrong as well and sorry, Overjoyyed....next time we should probably read it more carefully
moonflower93 Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Uno i'm not so sure, Dos maybe, Tre is a strong possiblity
gmcloughlin Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Hmm. This is interesting. I'd never actually seen the figures for UNO, DOS and TRÉ's record sales. After reading that and other posts in this thread, I think there's a fair possibility that it could outsell UNO, especially given the diversity of the fanbase for this record. I still can't believe how poor TRE's record is
Antonium2200 Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 I doubt it. Even though Uno, Dos, and Tre, were most likely the worst albums, they certainly got more advertising than Foreverly. I think we should lock this thread, just because.

oop.yarrz Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 from what ive heard I think its really good and its a possibility it will do just fine either way, plus it might restore faith to older green day fans (like my brother) as for every one saying it needs more advertising.. talk it up your self make sure you let every one you know, know you think its great, like some of my parents friends kinda like music like this might actually buy if I tell them about, it share the videos and maybe they will share them that's how it was done back in the day, don't let the media tell you whats good, damn the man!
fromdecimateddreams Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 I think it might, even if only by a little. Like most of you have said, it has two fanbases behind it and it has a pretty broad appeal to lots of audiences (country is huge) so I think it has a pretty good chance. It also might sell quite a bit because of curiosity, simply because people might look at the cover and be like "wait what, Norah Jones and the guy from Green Day?" I mean, it's kind of an odd pair. And curiosity sells. Honestly though, I don't really see why it matters. Both the Trilogy and Foreverly are good (or not good, depending on your opinion) in their own respective ways. Sales are just numbers.
R_Z-Log Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 The thing is with the Trilogy is that it was very highly anticipated amongst Green Day fans (ONLY Green Day fans), but faded away pretty quickly. I think with Foreverly, it will have a slower start, but the more people listen to it, review it, etc... The more it will sell. I feel like sales for Foreverly will escalate slowly, but stick around a lot longer than the Trilogy did. If that makes any sense... So anyway, yes. I think it could outsell Dos or Tre.
Heather. Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Based on these first week numbers I'm going to amend my guess from 'maybe' to 'haha no', unless these two perform at the Grammys/build some press: According to Hits Daily Double Foreverly came in this past week at #41 with 18,120 copies sold. http://www.hitsdailydouble.com/sales/salescht.cgi
Fuzz Posted December 4, 2013 Author Posted December 4, 2013 Wow, that's a whole lot lower than I thought. I noticed it wasn't even on Billboards top 200, though I'm never sure what week they would show up.
halfempty Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 If Foreverly out sells any of the Trilogy albums I wouldn't mind or be surprised. To me it sounds like Billie Joe put more heart into than Uno, Dos. Or Tre.

I noticed it wasn't even on Billboards top 200, though I'm never sure what week they would show up. I think the current Billboard 200 chart is out of whack or not updated because it doesn't reflect One Direction's current #1 album that sold over 500,000 in the first week. It still has eminem at the top and no 1D, which came out the same day as Foreverly.

It still has eminem at the top and no 1D, which came out the same day as Foreverly. I saw that as well. I also find that low number a bit hard to believe since Foreverly was always in the top 3 or 4 on the Amazon hourly charts with 1D and Lady Gaga. But whatever, it's an amazing fucking album regardless of how many albums were sold.

Yes but 1D and Gaga were on those charts from pre-orders for days and weeks leading up to the release, whereas Foreverly just jumped up there that day or so, and then fell off it. Similar to how the trilogy peaked on release days and then plummeted.
Whatsinaname Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Thanks to you Heather, I still have that screen shot of #1 Foreverly #2 Gaga #3 1D
! Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Lol ok... Yes past sales doesn't mean automatically the new release will sell the same amount or more but it does show a pattern... All I'm saying is don't under estimate Norah's fan base they buy her material (even her two side bands have gone to gold) You are underestimating Norah's fan base... Her last cd sold 110k first week with very little promotions at all Jazz fans are very loyal Think bout it she has sold almost the SAME amount of records with only 6 albums as oppose to 11 albums... So you have a lot of Norah fans AND Billies fan base I think it'll be in the 100's... Tho I do think more Norah fans will buy it than GD fans will... call me master BILLIE JOE & NORAH REPRISE 18,120 -- http://archive.is/6aFXK
WhiteTim Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 call me master Ok so I was wrong about my assumption...
