Ahh all the descriptions are making me extra excited to see it! I think I'll wait for the DVD for now though (unless it turns out it won't be for ages), don't really want to pay just to stream it. I wonder how long it will stay available for streaming?

Wow, the scene when Mike is laying down the bass track for the end of Whatsername and it zooms in to Billie crying was incredible. I would have liked to see more of the actual writing/recording process, but this scene alone really demonstrates how much American Idiot means to Billie. He put his soul into it and he was completely drained after it. Makes me so happy for the band. I can't imagine how proud and honored Billie must feel seeing how great this album became. Just wow.

The theater I saw it in was very nice enough to give me the big poster that they put in the box shit display :ga:

I framed it

The movie was cool and I really wanted to see even more of them in the studio farting around and recording.

1/10. Hot tub scene was not as impressive.

I don't remember spotting Ronnie, but Mike is in there for St. Jimmy, during the live footage.

I wasn't underwhelmed, but I also haven't been waiting eleven years to see it like some people have. Nothing could live up to eleven years of hype, no matter what, but I thought it could've been better. Less live footage and more behind the scenes stuff would've probably done it for me. There was nothing particularly special about that first live show of the material, imo, and I'd rather have had more insight into the songwriting and recording process of such an iconic album, rather than another performance that we've basically already seen in any other live video from the AI tour.

it was before Ronnie  it was Kurt Lohmiller in the movie.

It wasn't censored, you can definitely see Mike's donger.

That's a relief! Curious to know in what way it was not as impressive then.

I made a whole day trip out of it.  I felt kind of silly driving three hours just to watch the movie, so I went early in the morning and explored Alpheratta, Georgia.  I loved that there was so much footage I hadn't seen before, but at the same time the information was all fairly the same things we've been hearing for years about the album.  And thought there was going to be some unreleased songs but now I remember it was When It's Time.....The sound was incredible.  As I was entering the theatre one of the working was talking to a manager about the film being crazy loud in one showing and if they could fix it.  Then I went in and saw the "PLAY THIS MOVING FUCKING LOUD!"   Hilarious.   During the St. Jimmy portion a bunch of audience members started doing a call and response thing to the song, sounded like they were saying "poo poo" after every line for some reason, that was weird.  Overall I loved the film and was smiling and trying not to burst into song or at least stand up the whole time.  Like the American Idiot broadway musical, it's very strange to sit in silence while hearing these guys.  I give the movie 4 out of 5 stars, the only negative being there was nothing really new and then there was that one part where we had to watch the entire movie in reverse sped up.  Instead of that, I would have preferred more talk about the story of the album, or a song we haven't heard before.

Totally agree.  I wanted more writing/recording and storytelling, but all we got was farting, dirty jokes and Tre and Mikes naughty bits.  And live performances.   I enjoyed it a whole lot but there should have been more seriousness about the music in it.

I saw it last night and I absolutely loved it. Seeing it on the big screen was such a neat experience. People were singing and it was cool to be in a theater where you knew that you had something in common with every single person there.

I thought it was terrific. Billie, Mike and Tre are just really special dudes. They're so human in this. There were certain moments when I almost started to cry because I'd get hit with these moments of when I first heard this record and how it changed my life. Plus, I saw it with my buddy who got me into the band 11 years ago. It was just a really neat night.

I won't spoil anything, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Gotta love the lifestyle of these guys. Famous multi-millionaires who have birthdays with a few close friends, a shitty homemade cake, and someone's pool.
