UNICORN VOMIT Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 I just showed my son - he said he couldn't do that & he is old enough to come to soundwave with me. Way too cute
Overjoyyed Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 It's like those 3 year old kids that go on Ellen that memorize all the states or presidents! haha but this is even better b/c it is Green Day related. I want my kids to grow up with Green Day music! When I am ready and find out I am preggers one of the first things I want to get is the Green Day- Lullaby edition. Do you let your kids listen to clean versions? That's the only thing that I would be iffy about. If the average 2 1/2 year old knows 300 words ( Education major lol) I don't want 5 of them to be swear words haha.

Some songs eg. american idiot album version only says the F word once so i just say BLEEP and the kids also say BLEEP and they love saying it because it sounds funny. I am quite glad that GD doesnt have too much explicit liyrics so that I can share them with my 2 boys. I was disappointed when Kill the DJ & Let yourself GO was released before the album was out because I couldnt share that with my boys due to the explicit lyrics and they where so looking forward to new GD songs.
The Grohl Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 I've noticed that Green Day seems to be popular with kids. It always interests me.
ready1 Posted November 11, 2013 Author Posted November 11, 2013 I've noticed that Green Day seems to be popular with kids. It always interests me. I think its because most of their lyrics are very poetic and nursery ryhme like. I heard the same about Nirvana back in the 90's about their lyrics being the same and easily listened and understood by children. Well Except "Take Back" which my boys always comment that "Billie Joe is so angry we should send him an email"

My cousin's daughter used to love Know Your Enemy when she was 1 (the only song that was on the radio at the time). It made me really happy to know that whenever she heard it on the radio she started dancing! hahah

Finn Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Personally I hate kids under 16 and they should all be banned from the forum.
Tubbie Head Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Personally I hate kids under 16 and they should all be banned from the forum. But you are 14? Well, teenagers can be quite annoying, but they're more annoying in real life, when they're your siblings!

naliuj Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Haha! This is great! Every once in a while my friends take my ipod and play the first two or three seconds of a Green Day song and ask me what it is. I got them all within about 3 seconds other than minority. It was too quite for me to hear lol.
ready1 Posted November 12, 2013 Author Posted November 12, 2013 haha he must listen to 24/7 GD - love it. have you had him tested - he might be some kind of genius His teacher at Chid care is saying that he has an advanced mind as he doesnt seem to forget anything.. He does listen to GD quite a bit but he does know other bands like, Goldfinger, MxPX, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Offspring... umm Usher (gets that from his Mum) I cant believe he corrected me the other night because i said Boulevard of Broken Dreams was track 3... he said "that's Holiday, Boulevarde is number 4" ... smart ass
UNICORN VOMIT Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 That's impressive - agreed except Usher - get that out of him
ready1 Posted November 12, 2013 Author Posted November 12, 2013 That's impressive - agreed except Usher - get that out of him I think diversity in music is good for him, plus my partner is Usher obsessed so cant get rid of that otherwise she might go too
ready1 Posted November 12, 2013 Author Posted November 12, 2013 Least its not bieber I would probably leave her if it was bieber... lol jk
R_Z-Log Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 I can't remember where I read this, but I think it was the book "Nobody Likes You," where it said that on the Dookie tour, the average age of the concert goer was 8 or 9. Something about their music really resonated with younger kids, especially their music videos because of the bright colors.
The Grouch is Tracy Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 My daughter used to like "the Shih Tzu Song" .....Walking Contradiction... " the shit's so deep you can't run away" , but now she's 13 and way too cool for " Mom music" ...sadly this is how she now sees Green Day.

I know i did with my Dads music (Beatles, Beach Boys, Cascades) and I still like it lol
Robin105 Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Your kid is so cute. Smart too. Kill The DJ has a radio version that has no curse words in it. If I have kids that's definetly going to be my child. Haha.
Hermione Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Bright kid!My 6 year old nephew quite likes Green Day and finds Billie Joe amusing. Recently we showed him the Irving Plaza show when it came on Scuzz thinking he might enjoy watching a couple of songs but it turned out he liked it so much he insisted on watching the whole thing, he was jumping around and saying "there's Jason White!" when he spotted him lol. As far as the music goes Foxboro Hot Tubs is his favourite though, especially Alligator, been listening to them with him since he was tiny and whenever he pretends to play guitar or be in a band that's who he pretends to be. It's nice to have some music that both you and a child enjoy, I loved listening to the grunge music my parents played and seeing the grunge band my dad was in when I was little so I'm glad there's a band both he and his mum (and me) can appreciate, even though he's much cooler about it than us haha.
