Hammie Stein Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I just think that you have to sign some kind of contract if you get a signature... like "play it atleast 65% of the time" or something.. Deryck Whibley never plays his Signature tele haha
Spike Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Deryck Whibley never plays his Signature tele haha Probably because it's only a Squier. If it was a Fender than there'd probably be some kind of clause in place, but as endorsement deals go one with Squier would be pretty unreasonable for a professional musician
Cob Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 What a sexy ass guitar. Like, damn...that's a fucking nice guitar.
Flyingdonutz Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I can't figure out why he chose to play that shitty fender he played with the entire damn reading concert. But TBH it doesn't really matter the guitar Green Day uses they get pretty much all of their sound from the head and pedals they use. As with pretty much every musician ever.. just people like Jimi Hendrix wouldn't sound quite the same on a Gibson. But it'd be barely noticeable. I don't understand everyones fuss over what guitar they use. I could plug in my shitty strat ripoff into Green Day's sound system and I'd sound damn near just as good as they do. My Epiphone Les Paul would sound pretty much exactly the same as a Gibson. It's just when you get into clean effects that it can make a difference. But considering pretty much all of what Green Day does is heavily distorted minus a few songs it really doesn't matter what guitar Billie uses.

The Telecaster is not stock, its been modded with new electronics etc. It has the same pickup as blue, and Billie probably just took a liking to that tone. Plus Billie only uses one Pedal
70 Times 7 Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Deryck Whibley never plays his Signature tele haha Thats a good one What happened to that sweet grey one? I really miss it... Seriously, if he doesn't wanna use it anymore I'll gladly take it

Plus Billie only uses one Pedal That's not the point. He gets almost all of his sound from the header setup and his style. And his pickups, I should add, those don't really do nearly as much.

And his pickups, I should add, those don't really do nearly as much. Most of his tone comes from the amp, as you say, and the pickups. And since the pickups have been modified to be the same as those in Blue, there's really not much to go wrong. He's always had a very simple live setup, changing the guitar doesn't make a lot of difference, like it didn't when he switched between Blue, his Les Paul Junior and SG around the Warning era. His tone at Reading was fine, and that Telecaster is an awesome looking guitar.

LPbilliejr Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Just to add to this whole Billie using the Telecaster discussion, the only time he uses it is when he's giving it away or Blue's pickup goes out from sweating on it during the tour. He never has those for very long

If he wanted to use Blue and couldn't for some reason, he has plenty of replicas.
Asa. Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 I think he's just experimenting with new sounds. Can't play the same guitars over and over. He's always open to trying new things...nightlife.

Spike Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Im sorry, but pickups don't do that. He will use it if blue is damaged. Damaging pickups with sweat is perfectly plausible, especially ones with exposed poles like Strats tend to have. I doubt it's the case with Billie and Blue, but it depends how salty his sweat is.

WhiteTim Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Actually I guess it is. i also doubt that It happens to billie. According to Billies guitar tech in Guitar World does say they have to put new pick ups in blue alot cause of the sweat... Last paragraph

Bastard of 1969 Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 I totally agree with Asa. Many, many of guitarists use way other guitars to experiment the sound. I mean, look at Tom DeLonge. He didn't play his signature when Blink-182 came out, he played ES-333. And Fender TomDelonge was still producing.

If he wanted to use Blue and couldn't for some reason, he has plenty of replicas. Sorry for seminecroposting to this, but I don't get on as much as I used to. Anyways, but to debunk one thing here, Billie has no replicas of Blue, he wrecked all of them, because they were shit. And considering Billie's having a four signature guitar...the es 137...I think his contract is doing jf
beejeezee Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 He just wants to try out a new sound, nothing to worry over.
