Spike Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 This is just... what. I mean. I can't. WHAT? I saw this was a Ceadog thread and thought 'very funny...', but, I... Fuck this. I'm speechless.
IlariaIDIOT Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Don't like it. He should stick to punk rock and leave the gipsy songs to others. This kind of songs are not gipsy
pdx2ord Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Ohhhh, I was understanding that he meant with Green Day. Okay No, he was definitely "joking" about touring with Norah, not Green Day. Although, the more they bantered about it, the more they seemed to suggest it was a possibility.
The Grohl Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Well that was unexpected. I don't know about this. Billie's voice is just so....different. It doesn't fit in this song for me. Maybe a few more listens.. But those photos are mighty fine. hahaha aw he's wearing the chubby cherub button on his jacket. Those photos sure are fine
Cob Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 This is fantastic. Just when I start really getting into folk and acoustic music. Color me excited.
Dirty Rotten Bastard Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Oh wow. Also, I'm really, really excited by 'I've got a full tour booked'.
GDM Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Ohhhh, I was understanding that he meant with Green Day. Okay No, the question was "Can you imagine performing this material? Will you do any shows together?" Meaning him and Jones. So he's joking about that and then says... We haven't even mastered it yet... English can be tricky when it's your second language! Heck, even if it's your first!
Spike Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Don't like it. He should stick to punk rock and leave the gipsy songs to others. What exactly are you the answer to? Why pro-lifers are wrong?
James! Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Okay guys I wanna pre order it for myself for Christmas ... Do Warner ship to the uk or can I get it on UK amazon?
WestboundSign! Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 The amazon preorder link doesn't work yet, does it? I'll preorder it as soon as somehow possible, hoping it works from here
Ryan Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Just pre-ordered it. Long Time Gone sounded fucking amazing. Billie's voice is so goddamn good...especially when he does the classical ballad/folk type singing. Brilliant, and sooooo unexpected.
Akshat Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 "I've got a whole tour booked....I was kidding"
WestboundSign! Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 I pre-ordered straight from Warner Bros. website http://store.warnermusic.com/foreverly-cd-bundle.html Yeah, I will do so if the amazon link does still not work in a few days Just because of having an account there. But I will see!
moonflower93 Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 as much as i love BJ, i am not fond of this style of music tbh.
tubbyfox Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 I like how he feels he has to brush his hair and wear a tie for the photo!
Harinezumi Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 This looks like such an April Fool's joke, but awesome at the same time.
Jean Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 When I first logged into GDA I thought this was another joke like the Lady Gaga thing (that WAS a joke right?).
Harinezumi Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 The song has a kind of a Johnny Cash & June Carter vibe to it. I like it.
Akshat Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Hmm, not really a fan of this style of music… and to be honest, Long Time Gone could've been performed by two completely unknown singers. They didn't really give it anything other than a couple of voices. If you cover a song, in my opinion, there should be a reason for it. You should actually give the song something other than what is already available, if that makes sense? But hey, at least it seems to have been a fun project for them. Billie and Norah mentioned like 5 times in the interview that they wanted this to be 'refreshing' and didn't want to put too much pressure on themselves. And as long as it sounds good, it doesn't really matter and I guess it really does sound good. Billie is just trying to explore new genres here and it was certainly a good attempt. As far as covers having a purpose are concerned, if the cover is being released for commercial/mainstream gains, then it should definitely be something different and contrary to the original song but if it is done with an intent of fun like in this case, I guess it's not an issue. It's really nice to see this side of Billie Joe Armstrong, the punk-rock singer of a band known for songs like Longview, American Idiot etc
Stuart&Ave Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 I don't know if I like it, but it's stuck in my head.
Snows Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 I love Billie Joe, I love Norah and I love the Everly Brothers. This is simply awesome, really. A fantastic surprise. Gipsy songs? Wut r u talkn bout??
lizziebix Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 I'd forgetten how much of an Everly Bros fan I used to be. This is a very nice reminder.
