"These influences apparently hit a nerve with Billie Joe Armstrong who, at his wife's suggestion, hit up Norah Jones to cover the record with him."

Best part of that entire review! :D

Seriously though, that was a very good review and it's awesome to hear another musician talk about the album, and particularly Billie's talent/voice the way that he did. Great read!

"Pop" music? I don't even know how the fuck to classify this collab, honestly. :P

That "review" on Amazon is gold...the guy actually spent time typing that...I mean think about it...there are about fifty better uses of his five minutes but he used his energy to give us a laugh. I for one am grateful not everybody takes their meds

Yep, I put up the entire clip start to finish. Thanks for editing.

The album has reached #4 in all music on Amazon.com. Yesterday the CD version was higher, the digital version was #12, both are now at #4.

I agree completely! I hate the fact that it came out at pretty much the worst possible time as far as all the music awards are concerned (Grammy season stops in October). Hopefully it does not get lost over the next 11 months and is remembered come next year. I really think that this album has huge potential to take in some serious awards.

I was at a record store yesterday and I must have spent half an hour looking for the cd (because God forbid I have to ask an employee haha) I looked in the sections for pop, jazz, rock, vocalists, country, looked for the Norah Jones cds and the Green Day cds. Turns out they just didn't have it in stock yet

Good and bad news, I guess. And the 30th is only Saturday so not too long a wait.

Got the album today, haven't had a full listen to it yet. Planning on setting some time aside tomorrow to enjoy it. I love the packaging it came in to, nice card sleeve thing instead of a CD case...is everyone's like that?

I got my copy from Best Buy. Not sure why it came out on a monday instead of tuesday, but the sooner the better. WOW. This album is really enjoyable. It's so different from what I usually listen to, and that's part of what makes it so great. My favorites are Down in the Willow Garden and Silver Haired Daddy of Mine. There are a few that I tend to skip, but when I don't skip them they are enjoyable as well. The songs are so simple, but the lyrics are packed with down and dirty emotion. Murder, sickness, unrequited love, more murder, breakups, dying facedown in the snow, going to prison, being executed.....dark and troubling, lovely and loving and longing.

The packaging is super-basic. So much so that after purchasing it, I almost wished I had just downloaded it on Itunes. No lyrics, no liner notes really. For 14 bucks, I would liked a little bit more as far as that stuff goes. That's my only complaint.

Maybe Norah will appear on the next Green Day album. I could imagine that working out. A Green Day song with her singing a verse or something. Again, really great album. Maybe not for everyone, but it's on repeat in my car and computer. :)

I'm only buying the CD to blast it in my car, along with the usual Green Day CD's over and over :)

So, I've been playing this all day and my daughter is now begging me to play Green Day again; I immediately said, so now you want to hear "Minority" or how about "Macy's Day Parade" again haha! Seriously though, she said playing these songs reminds of her of being at Grandmas' house. I beg to dffer on the contrary! But she's right. I think it made her sad when I played the old rocking chair song but she wouldn't admit it.

Repeat :)

Warner Brothers is sending me a handful of copies to giveaway. We'll have some contests both here on GDC and GDA to give away some actual CD's.

Has anyone else ordered their CD through Stereobotique? It's the website I was linked to from Billiejoeandnorah.com. I ordered the CD last week through the German store and the CD came out last Friday here. Since I did not get the CD on Friday, I thought I might get it on the 25th since this was the US release date. But I haven't received anything yet. And I also remember reading that you would get a download link with it on the release date. No download link either. I can't even access the two songs you get when you pre-order the CD because when I ordered it, the website just crashed. I am not amused...

UK people, Billie Joe is on Radio 2 sometime very soon talking about the album, they've just spoken to Norah Jones I think....I missed it though.

Can someone record it please?

I just heard a bit of the interview with Billie online on BBC radio but I didn't understand everything because it was a phone interview and the sound was pretty bad.. I'd like to listen to it again, I really hope someone recorded it...

Only just seen this. I'll listen to it on iPlayer tomorrow :)
