kripack Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 I hope the album will be leaked within the next few days. I've already pre-ordered it on iTunes, i just want to get it as fast as possible.

Schlappy Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 The project was (from the beginning) to introduce us again this album. I see no reason to change the style. okay, that's fine. I just prefer when artists add something or a new spin on old covers because otherwise why would i listen when i could just get the original? i'm not asking for style change, just perhaphs an interesting arrangment. its just a thought
Jax Teller Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 okay, that's fine. I just prefer when artists add something or a new spin on old covers because otherwise why would i listen when i could just get the original? i'm not asking for style change, just perhaphs an interesting arrangment. its just a thought I think this is the purpose, to become a reason for someone to look the original music and its beauty. Many of us will never hear The Everly Brothers if it wasn't for Billie Joe and Norah. In "Long Time Gone" they have added a guitar solo and accordig to the Rolling Stone interview "they making more explicit the emotional and sexual tensions in "Oh So Many Years" and the traditional ballad "Barbara Allen"."
November's Storms Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 So both of my favourite musicians, Green Day and Frank Turner, have a song called Barbara Allen! Not sure if it's the same song though. Sounds similar but they're both old folk songs and a lot of them sound similar, and they usually all have 10+ verses so there could be 2 totally different songs from the same one. Who's Gonna Shoe Your Pretty Little Feet sounds like it will be a great song!
lizziebix Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Silver Haired Daddy is pretty much Red River Valley, isn't it? I suppose maybe it was the go-to melody for this kind of sorrowful song. I like Red River better - it has a sad romantic cowboy instead of a poor old guy sitting in a vine-covered shack waiting for death, lol!! Also I wanna know what were the awful things the narrator did to prematurely age his poor old dad, and why he doesn't get off his ass and do something to cheer old dad up - take him out on the town ffs, man!! I'm listening to this and I'm like, dear god, this is mawkish, but such is the nature of these songs - grim and sentimental. I think the light touch of Billie and Norah's interpretation gives a little swish of humor to it. Wow. I started singing along and thought I knew all the words (well, I did kind of) but after you posted this I went back and listened while "hearing" Red River Valley. Never noticed that before and I really love Red River Valley! And yes, most country songs tend to be grim without defined reasons for what has happened has happened. I guess true contry-folk just understand that this is normal behavior!

Whatsinaname Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Well, I am not a fan of the newer country music (I don't think your tractor is sexy and I hate red solo cups if anyone here understands) I'm so trying to promote this album and again, everyone on my Xmas list is getting this LP, Cassette or CD Should I preorder this now? Edit: Yeah my new avatar is a little contradictory, I guess I'm a walking contradiction.
