Schlappy Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 i kinda wish they would alternate parts or at least harmonize or something... both of them singing the same line is nice but kinda boring

justcause Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Silver Haired Daddy is pretty much Red River Valley, isn't it? I suppose maybe it was the go-to melody for this kind of sorrowful song. I like Red River better - it has a sad romantic cowboy instead of a poor old guy sitting in a vine-covered shack waiting for death, lol!! Also I wanna know what were the awful things the narrator did to prematurely age his poor old dad, and why he doesn't get off his ass and do something to cheer old dad up - take him out on the town ffs, man!! I'm listening to this and I'm like, dear god, this is mawkish, but such is the nature of these songs - grim and sentimental. I think the light touch of Billie and Norah's interpretation gives a little swish of humor to it.
Jax Teller Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 doesn't mean they have too. i like when covers are reorganized The project was (from the beginning) to introduce us again this album. I see no reason to change the style.
