ColinOr Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Did anyone find what they said about Dookie at Brixton Academy confusing? They said it was really good, but cited it as one of their low points.
kripack Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Seems like everybody have it. Can somebody please scan it for those who can't buy the magazine in their country?
halfempty Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Thank-you for posting. A lot of it's been said before but still a good read
Hermione Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Thanks so much for the scans! Looking forward to reading later
The Disappearing Boy Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Nice article, but their choices for the three best songs are poor.
Spike Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 I'm glad I didn't pay to read that article. I can't quite put my finger on why, but it's annoyed me. And the reaction to Dookie at Brixton was muted? Said like someone who wasn't there. It was nuts! Thanks for the scans btw!
Hero_Of_The_Hour Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 The article wasn't too terrible for once...at least it was long. Still some stupid inaccuracies though like the sober for a year before iHeart thing...did they read the Rolling Stone interview or not? Did they see any shows like say Irving Plaza? Also are they seriously saying Dookie wasn't recieved well at Brixton? Were they actually there?!?!
JOE THE X-KID Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 The article wasn't too terrible for once...at least it was long. Still some stupid inaccuracies though like the sober for a year before iHeart thing...did they read the Rolling Stone interview or not? Did they see any shows like say Irving Plaza? Also are they seriously saying Dookie wasn't recieved well at Brixton? Were they actually there?!?! more like, it wasn't received well at Reading...
Hero_Of_The_Hour Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 more like, it wasn't received well at Reading... Yeah or at Leeds but that was to be expected as all those annoying people who claim to love Green Day but "Dookie was their best album" or "They haven't released a decent album since Dookie" or some other variety of shit about selling out and wearing makeup blah blah with the punchline being Dookie was their peak and they will never be that amazing ever ever again really mean...I know Basket Case, Longview, When I Come Around and Welcome To Paradise. They have no earthly clue there are other tracks on there but they love those cheeky little dogs throwing shit on the album cover and man that old Woodstock footage was amusing like iHeart was so amusing. So yeah...I wasn't suprised when everyone around me in the front and second rows at Reading & Leeds didn't know any words to any non singles. They looked utterly bored five minutes into Chump. Brixton crowd nearly drowned in our own sweat! Difference was Brixton were all proper fans not the "ah Green Day...oh there still together?! yeah I liked that September song they are like my favourite band (after 75 others)" types that wind up at festivals. Kerrang are mixing up their gig reactions methinks.
Annie, get your gun Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 I don't like the whole "he's still not justin beaver, motherfuckers!" <It's just too much Plus showing pictures about it, that 'famous' quote, asking things to a clinical psychologist... I mean, what for? There's nothing they say we already don't know. And I know we can't go -"oh, that never happened and we won't talk about it ever again!", but to me it's an unnecessary article.
Tubbie Head Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Thank you for the scans!!! I'm gonna read it now.
UNICORN VOMIT Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 I didn't know 21CB was not universally loved or liked. Its my most listened to CD & ah grammy's
MaraGreenDay Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 I'm agree with laly, this was a really unnecessary article but i have to say that i love the: "That may be. But the joke's over"
AlissaGoesRAWR Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 I don't like the whole "he's still not justin beaver, motherfuckers!" <It's just too much Yup, after seeing that headline I've decided I'm not even bothering to waste my time reading the scans of some regurgitated shit article. That's fucking stupid.
Clockwise Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 The article isn't great or factual, but I think it mostly means well.
