I don't understand this at all. I listen to the Trilogy all the time and think there are some songs that are prefect for radio, such as: Stray Heart, 99 Revolutions, The Forgotten, X-Kid and Stay the Night.

I enjoyed the trilogy immensely and wish it would have been promoted properly. Oh well.

I listen to Absolute Radio and expected much more airplay with the trilogy and I haven't heard one song! I had high hopes as I remember that q&A session and also Jeff Lloyd's interview which was great ("what have you got in your sack Billie," "Nothing much any more, not after this morning, Mike") so I know they are big fans. Mind you I mostly listen to Christian O'Connell in the morning and he's still playing American Idiot and Basketcase. X-Kid and Stay the Night would be perfect for Absolute, what's the matter with them? I'm going to email them.

Honestly I really like the Trilogy. Had a lot of good single choices. Maybe not so great in terms of a whole album (or three), but lots of great individual songs.

Agree with all of this except for "The Forgotten." It drags on for too long and the pace never picks up enough for it to be radio friendly. Substitute "Nuclear Family" for it, though, and you'd have a solid list of singles.

Did you actually just diss The Forgotten.

brb laughing forever

Agree completely with you though :P

Yeah, I mean I'm not that brainless of a fangirl mate. :P

I was laughing more because of irony than anything else. Even though it wasn't that ironic.

Don't get me wrong, I love the song you dick, it's just it's kind of like "Homecoming," people aren't going to stay tuned in to a station to listen to the entire thing.

Yeah I know. Still laughed.

Missing You would also have been a great radio song.

Don't they usually make a shorter radio version though?

Nuclear Family is a freaking amazing song. One of the best from the Trilogy IMO.

My cousin who hates Green Day loved Missing You. He said it had a great old vibe to it. A retro thing.

The overall pace of the song just feels too slow, though. I mean, BOBD is a long song that starts out pretty tame, but it picks up like crazy. "The Forgotten," even if it were shortened would still be too much of a snoozer to play on the radio because it never gets that kick of energy, ever.

Soooo true it just doesn't have that radio vibe to it

Agreed. I'd like to violently shake whoever decided to make "Oh Love" a single rather than "Nuclear Family."

I really like Oh Love too, just probably not the best single.

This topic is funny, so many butthurt fangirls haha.

I'm sure the majority of people don't wanna be forced to listen to songs off the trilogy anyway, lots of better choices out there. :)

You say that as if there's some real treasure trove of classic music being made today that's gracing our radios. Of course people are upset, this is our band, hearing a large radio station that influences what kind of music people listen to bashing the stuff we like sucks. Doesn't really matter what your opinion of the trilogy is, for someone to suggest that it's worse than every shitty pop song on the radio is crazy.

Don't back down or feel unwanted because of this article... send them some GREEN DAY fan mail. Start swamping them with so many Green Day music requests from the trilogy that the postal service will thank you. Make sure you include the reasons why you like those songs in your letters... make them personal.

At least, it is a pro-active suggestion...

these guys are dirty rotten bastards. See what I did there. You know you wanna laugh. Bad jokes are still funny on GDC

Green day best play this song at soundwave.

You know, those guys aren't the only guys with radio stations. If they don't want to play bands you like, you don't need those jerks anyway.

In fact, the next time Green Day gets on the radio, it could be you playing them.

I've thrown down a the gauntlet. Do me a favor and pick it up?

Oh my goodness I can't believe how angry I am after reading the article. I know it shouldn't annoy me because music is subjective, but I can't believe he reckons the Trilogy isn't good enough to play. Radio 1 isn't really a 'rock' or 'alternative' station so I understand that GD are not going to be on constant rotation, but I can't believe some songs were not picked up for the radio. I mean the first three songs on UNO 'Nuclear Family', 'Stay the Night' and 'Carpe Diem' I could see doing really well on the radio. I personally love the Trilogy and just do not understand how it can be described as 'just not good enough'. What was he basing this judgment on-was he comparing the Trilogy to the GD back catologue, or to other new music? I suspect the only reason he said that, was because the Trilogy wasn't super hyped and as successful in terms of sales, and promoted and rammed down our throats, and therefore it wasn't 'trendy' enough.

Considering the fact they play songs from Myley Cyrus's new album, Disregard this.

This is utter crap

Whether the Trilogy was Green Day's best or not is irrelevant. To say it's "not good enough" to air is utter crap. When Radio 1 spew crap like Miley Cyrus, One Direction, Justin Beiber and all that crap

I never listen to the radio anyway.

I'm kind of glad Green Day aren't being put in the same category as the above ^ but also offended. That guy wouldn't know musical talent if it hit him in the face....

Muse on the other hand, from what I heard...2nd law sucked

This is why i make my own customized radio via Spotify. Music i like. and ones that i do not like. SKIP.

Everyone has there own opinions, like me I love the triology and I think I'm one of the few But still considering that it does have a low rating and not many people like it then that's why they don't play it on radio and honestly I've never heard a green day song on the radio (except when I come around) and that was like 3 years ago so therefore they has never actully been popular on the radio
