Anaïs. Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Which sold more Longview or Basket Case? Can't find the sales stats, but according to Wikipedia "Basket Case" was ten positions higher on the Hot 100 (26 vs. 36). EDIT: Ah, beaten to the punch.
DookieLukie Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Basket Case was much more popular than Longview. But Longview sure helped Green Day into the spotlight.
WhiteTim Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Basket Case was much more popular than Longview. But Longview sure helped Green Day into the spotlight. It did but I think Basket Case would've done the same
Beezey Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 I dont listen to Radio 1 because I dont like the majority of the music played. It hurts my ears. Its kind of ironic that Radio one play such horrible and tuneless so-called popular chart music that they wouldnt include good musicans, artist and bands because they dont suit the music trends at that particular time. Also I was annoyed when BBC Three cut their coverage of Green Day set from 2 hours/2 and half hours down to hour and threw in a silly reality show in between. Absolute Radio and Kerrang are better at playing a variety of music. I cant count the amount of times I have heard that Robin Thicke song - it does my head in. That song is made even worse since I keep on picture Mileys butt and tougue twerking around, desperately trying to get rid of the Disney label. Painful.

.Holly Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 To be honest, I really don't care. The trilogy was made for fans, and personally I love it. Less radio time = fewer teenage girls trying to elbow me in the face to get closer to Billie Joe at shows

Finn Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 The problem is, all you hear on the radio now is either boulevard of broken dreams or good riddance. (I think I once heard Warning on an indie type station but still) This means that people only think that Green Day have made 2 songs. If you ask me how many songs one direction have made id say about 3. So if they started playing some of their other shit more often the people will really get into Green Day and they might actually realise there is more to life than the shitty slow songs. Aside from this, any of the wackos (ceri, cdog) wanna assassinate this boss for playing Gallagher?
WorryRock02 Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 I think at this point, the next time BBC'd like to interview Green day, they will be too mute to speak.
Kayfabe Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 I'm sorry but has anyone actually heard the shit that gets played on the radio. I'm glad Green Day don't get played if that's the attitude towards them. They Don't need to be part of that. True! I mean I am also one of the people that believe the Trilogy isn't good enough for Green Day... as for being aired with the shit they put on now? Pfffft. Would also like to remind everyone that this is one of their less commercially successful releases. If it were the same quality but more popular, I don't doubt Radio 1 would be playing a different tune.
The Grohl Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 I think that's an odd way to run a station..it's like a radio station run by people who only play what they want to hear. I dunno just odd. Then again that's why I don't listen to the radio.
Hermione Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 They are many fans who are teenage girls right now regardless of radio air play and there will always will be - there was been since American Idiot and even more so with 21CBD. Since Dookie more like. Well before that too, but there's been "teeny" fans who are predominantly attracted to the band because they're trendy or cute rather than because of the music since they made it big with Dookie. They were in teen magazines and had screaming teenage girls and people who just thought they were cool because they were the new big thing on MTV and had trendy funny hair and punky clothes at their shows even more then than now.
Jollyroger118 Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Whatever man, you look childish bitching about how THE RADIO SUX REAL MUZZIK IS DEAD WHERE IS PUNK?? when you're 20 years old. "I'm not picky or close minded." May wanna look up the definition of both of those terms. No I'm not elitist or anything but IMO music on the radio sucks. "REAL MUZZIK" (dumbass) is out there but it sure as fuck isn't on the radio. That's my opinion, maybe radio in Canada is different or maybe you just like terrible music.

"or maybe you just like terrible music" Did you seriously just say that?
Beezey Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 I suppose they will just play what is in the charts.

Tubbie Head Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 If you're in the UK you can tune in to Absolute radio, I used to listen to it at work and they played a Green Day song every day (among other classics). Here: http://www.absoluteradio.co.uk It's not like a shitty one, either. It's a proper well known station. Absolute Radio is the best. They love Green Day and GDC!
Tubbie Head Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 GDC too?? I didn't know that. I love them even more. Well, there was a contest back in 2008 between band's forums and GDC won! It was super fun, we created a playlist that was on the radio for one hour (half GD songs half influences)... The guy who was broadcasting was awesome! He even made an account here at the time. But yeah, It's just for that that I say they love us.
Hermione Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 GDC too?? I didn't know that. I love them even more. Yeah! A few years ago they had a contest where different band's forums put together playlists of songs, and then there was a series of heats where people voted for their favourite playlist and finally the winning one was played on the radio. GDC won and got to take over the radio for an hour. Pretty much the most fun thing ever. And then because of that they remembered us and a few months later when they did a Q&A with Green Day they let GDC submit the questions, this one to be exact:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVkd-QWJ8O4They were always really nice and friendly and let us know whenever they were doing anything Green Day related too. An awesome radio station. Superior to Radio 1 Edit: In other words what Sofia said haha
Hermione Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 It'd be cool if Green Day ended up getting interviewed by them or something again if and when they do press in the UK again. Hang on a minute, this thread should be in Green Day News. Moving it.
Brian Gag Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Harrumph. Green Day is always good enough for my radio show.
Martyn Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 This topic is funny, so many butthurt fangirls haha. I'm sure the majority of people don't wanna be forced to listen to songs off the trilogy anyway, lots of better choices out there.
porksoda Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 The irony is, and will almost always be, is the shit that gets played on the radio is always worse than the stuff that isn't.
