Trilogy not "good enough" for Radio One

No, it wasn't. In Cuatro, Billie said that he wrote a bunch of the lyrics in the studio (I forget how many songs he said, though).

I really want to know which ones...

He said he wrote the majority in the studio

Which always manages to surprise me, because Nimrod. has some of BJA's best lyrics on it.

P.S. Am I the only one who likes to put the period after the title like on the album cover?

Nope. I do it a lot too. Sometimes I even leave the N lowercase like on the cover.

Globally the trilogy is less good than their others albums, but let's admit that some songs from UDT are really good.

But I don't really care anyway, I don't listen to radio :D

Haha as if their decisions on what to play have anything to do with how GOOD it is.....it has to do with what type of music is currently popular and how much it's sold/how successful it is and nothing more. Also if Radio 1 is being run by someone who doesn't consider Green Day OR Muse worth playing then I can't say I'm tempted to tune into it any time soon.

I have to agree. The trilogy was a complete and utter let down. It just doesn't have that massive and huge feeling that the two rock operas had. I remember songs from 21st being played everyday in the week up to and after it's release. The trilogy falls flat in the sound and lyrics apartment but some of the songs themselves like X-Kid and Stray Heart are up there in terms of how great the songs are and their structure but lack in terms of that big Green Day sound we all know.

I'm sick of hearing the generic power chord opening and palm mute verse that we had in songs like Stay The Night, Loss of Control, Rusty James... etc. We need the song structures they had on the last two albums back because they weren't conventional verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus. They were exciting to listen to. Yeah they had some songs that fell flat but they still had the huge arena feeling. That's why i was so disappointed. They were also hard to convey to a live audience. The guitar tone is just hard to listen to. They should have left it like that it the studio but then used a heavy tone on tour rather than using the light guitar tone on all of the songs. Listen to Know Your Enemy when that kicks off. Then listen to a trilogy song. The trilogy doesn't have that huge feel.

More than half the shit they play on the radio is exactly that, shit! So even if they do consider the Trilogy awful they might as well play it anyway. But come in, something off the Trilogy or another whirl of Katy Perry's Roar?

Roar is such a good song that deserves more radio play than a lot of Trilogy songs.

Okay, I don't know if you're serious or not but I don't agree with you. No offense. :)

I'm pretty sure that's not what he said.

I have it like that in my iTunes

Considering that I just watched it... but hey whatever...

so they did some before going to the studio. Weed is supposed to be good for creativity. At Uni some flatmate used to sit there and smoke it right in front of me, gushing over the credentuals of the drug - pills dont do anything other than stop concentration. DONT DO DRUGS KIDS... I dont use any but peoole have claimed that about it - loose the pills and boose and chil out with a Green Day Splif. Creative Banana Skin.

Or y'know, don't become dependant on drugs as a means to create music.

Some of the best music we have are courtesy of weed or coke or heroin or alcohol etc...

Deadly serious! Haha it's fine, you don't have to agree with me. I love the trilogy, don't get me wrong, it's just I hate when people act like all mainstream music is shit. Katy Perry is an extremely talented artist and makes great tunes. She's also one of the more positive female role models out there amongst the pop divas while still being fun and sexy.

I really don't understand why people dislike the Trilogy, I hope Green Day continue to make music like that

Also here come the "current music is shit" crusaders.

Nah, current music isn't shit. Just most of the stuff that gets played on the radio - even if there are exeptions.

And there is so much more behind radio airplay than some snob deciding if it's good enough. Radio is a corporate world...

You are literally the only person I've ever seen with that opinion. Loads of people like the Trilogy, but all of them don't want it again.

That Muse reference hurt. I mean, in T2L there's MADNESS FOR FUCKS SAKE, which easily surpasses Starlight as the most radio friengly stuff they've done. And it's shit(Sry Chris :( )

As for Green Day, same old, same old.

First, I love the trilogy... ¡DOS! is my favorite by far and the best album since Warning.

Second: Who cares about this radio 1 thing??? I just care that I LIKE Green Day Releases. Nowadays, we are free to listen to whatever the hell we want. So we don't need the radio, it is the mp3/mp4/i-pod/whatever the heck audio device you have era!!

And THAT is the crux of the matter. Radio is there for people who want it. If you don't like it, switch stations or go listen to the music you already own. It always baffles me when people are thrilled when a song they like comes on the radio. Like, if you love it that much you probably already own it, and if not you can do so for less than a quid and listen to it whenever you want.

I'm sorry but that's your opinion. I never hear anything pop on the radio that I like and I'm not picky or close minded but it all just sucks so bad. The only rock out there is this soft acoustic Bruno Mars type of shit or some terrible pop song that will all of a sudden have a rapper jump in and rap about something that has nothing to do with the song itself. The radios fucking disgusting and I could give a shit if Green Days ever on it again. At least as long as it is in the state it is which who knows how long it'll be till actual art is appreciated again.

"Radio don't play anything I'd listen to

It's really quite a waste cause I couldn't even make it through

It seems to me what I create

Is almost something beautiful

It really fucking irritates

I'm never gonna be on the radio"

I'd love it. Honestly this wasn't even an uncommon opinion when we'd just heard nearly all the songs live, we'd heard how they sounded and the lyrics and people loved them. It's only once it came out, wasn't promoted and didn't do well that it became so popular to diss it. Exactly the same story as with 21st CB. It isn't weird to like any of Green Day's albums best or to want more that sounds like any of them, people's taste in Green Day varies widely.

Didn't stop them playing the singles from 21CB.

I wouldn't want to play it either.
