SfarrInsomniac Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 That guy has just a little too much time on his hands also maybe he could possibly be on drugs if he serious about that
Akshat Jain Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 All the lies that people think are true about blue. EXAMPLES: Blue was damaged at woodstock and billie only uses replicas. Blues pickup was broken at woodstock. Billlie had replicas made of blue and gave them all way/smashed them because he didn't like the sound of them. Billie never uses the original blue. Things like that really piss me off Well on their 99 Revolutions tour... i think Billie had used his original Blue.... "cause the stickers on blue in some of their concerts just were looking pretty old!! Some Justin Beber fan ( I probably misspelled that but I honestly don't care) got mad at Billie Joe Armstrong for dissing him and said "okay just because you walked on the moon doesn't mean you can diss Justin" OH MY FUCKING GOD HOW STUPID CAN YOU GET!!!!! That makes me angrier than the Billy Joel Armstrong mix up that's just because those Bieber followers don't have brain... they just cry all the time and that's so because they think they look cool just because they cry... PS..-- my own experience with a Bieber fan at school!!
Spike Posted June 12, 2014 Author Posted June 12, 2014 Yeah, the only Blue Billie uses anymore is the original.
Hammie Stein Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Yeah, the only Blue Billie uses anymore is the original. Finally, someone who understands my ways!
SfarrInsomniac Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Yeah, the only Blue Billie uses anymore is the original. I'm learning new things everyday
Spike Posted June 15, 2014 Author Posted June 15, 2014 I'm learning new things everyday You may enjoy this video of him being very mean to one of the Blue replicas, and people at the time were freaking out thinking it was the real one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1ML6kerpR8
Libertine Angel Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 I went into college wearing a Green Day shirt, and someone in one of my classes said they first heard them just after they started, with American Idiot. Now, they already listen to different kinds of rock, so I thought there was hope for them, so instead of walking away, I said "sit down, and let me tell you a story. It begins on February 17th, 1972, in a little shithole they call Oakland, California..."
Bastard of 1969 Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 How can they freak out on this?! Are they blind? Just look at the colour of it.
Spike Posted June 21, 2014 Author Posted June 21, 2014 How can they freak out on this?! Are they blind? Just look at the colour of it. Apparently so! People will make a drama out of anything. Oh, hi GDC.

Hermione Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Finally, someone who understands my ways! He did use a replica on the South American leg of the 21st CB tour. But that's only because the original was having some maintenance done to it hah.
Libertine Angel Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 my most favorite post ever! XD Really? Wow. Thanks.

I hate how people call them 'Replicas' when really they were never meant to be replicas. They were just guitars that were used in place of blue.

I hate how people call them 'Replicas' when really they were never meant to be replicas. They were just guitars that were used in place of blue. Well I mean, they were guitars made to look like Blue so they were replicas in a sense even if they weren't exactly the same. Doesn't mean he was trying to pretend they were the real one though, he wasn't trying to fool people or anything. If people thought something like that I'd see the objection to calling them replicas, I don't think they do though. Pretty sure Billie and his guitar techs/crew have called them that themselves.

True, however as stated before, there are no real replicas (as in guitars that were meant to be blue replacements)
Hermione Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 True, however as stated before, there are no real replicas (as in guitars that were meant to be blue replacements) Interestingly I think they were meant to replace it originally. Around Nimrod times there was an interview where Billie said the original was totally broken and unusable so he'd just given it to his toddler son . So at that point I think he was planning on sticking with the replicas. It was several years later (some time after Warning) that he got the original fixed and started using it again.

He used the original in nimrod times? He just had those other 'Replicas' that were mostly used for the newer songs that were tuned to E, while I thought the real blue was used for E flat songs. I would like to see that interview! haha

I would like to see that interview! haha I've just been using the search trying to find it, and even better I've found an explanation that Bill Schneider (who worked with the band for years including on their instruments) posted here years ago . I'm mostly wrong, but it was broken at one point (and Billie did say that, can't find the interview but it exists) and he did stop using it at one point. Here's the definitive story None of the blue replicas exist anymore. Bj broke or gave them all away. The "blue" he is playing now and during the Ai tour is the one and only original. It was damaged pre Nimrod when a fret broke off and chipped the fingerboard, but it was repaired and refretted in 1997. the interview you are quoting was from 1997 probably. He did retire it for a bit during warning/pop disater tours but the newer ones never sounded as good.

Here's the definitive story I know that the Fretboard got chipped when a fret came off, but the time that It would have took to repair wouldn't have needed a complete Replica of blue made for billie to use. I know that there were never replacements for blue during this time as there are videos of him just using other guitars on the nimrod tour, I believe there was a Red strat at some point.

Yeah looks like you're right that he never intended to replace it (I guess using them during Warning times was to preserve it/not let it get worn out again or something along those lines). I think it's OK to call them replicas though, even Bill did haha.
Spike Posted June 23, 2014 Author Posted June 23, 2014 I think it's OK to call them replicas though, even Bill did haha. Well, yeah. They're Strats painted a similar colour with stickers all over them and the same pickup modification. If that's not a replica then nothing is.
SfarrInsomniac Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 I always thought Billie Joe used replicas because the original blue didn't sound as good anymore, but then I guess I really didn't do too much research on it though
