James! Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 BLONDIE AND GREEN DAY ?!? *INSERT "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY FRY" HERE*
JIGD13 Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 So this is a benefit for the hospital, and not some corporate conference? For some strange reason in my mind I think that at the beginning it was supposed to be that way
Tubbie Head Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 There's a contest to win tickets for this... You need to "geek" out in front of the camera apparently. http://www.salesforcesocialambassador.com/Post/win-ticket-dreamforce-developer-geek-out-contest/7dc2ccdf-834c-4118-9080-f64bc1ab6a49 Via Green Day LIVE on Tour facebook page

Jax Teller Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Blondie and Green Day?? This is so awesome!
jacknovella Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Looking forward to hearing about this! I imagine they'll play a greatest hits kinda set, but it'll be interesting to see the setlist!
lizziebix Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 This makes so much more sense now. They always like to do charity functions for the Children's Hospital. What a great show that's going to be.
desertrose Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Billie Joe's sister Anna works for Children's Hospital. They have been doing charity events for awhile. This should be another great show, I am counting the days til I go.

Overjoyyed Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 Glad this is all for charity and a good cause. Excited to see what they're going to play- will they feel energized after this break to crank out some new trilogy songs or will they just think since this is a corporate event where many people are there with their "free" ticket that came with the conference that they should stick to the hits? Can't wait to see some footage of this! Missing Green Day a bit.
tdlyon Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 Definitely think it'll be a more hits-oriented set.
Guest Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 So it seems like Dreamforce is sponsoring this and stroking a check, with their attendees getting to go for free, but other tickets will be available with a chunk of everything going to the hospital. Cool. I'd actually love to see a show kind of like what Nine Inch Nails and David Bowie did some years back. Blondie plays 8-10 of their own songs, then Billie Joe joins for 4-5 songs (songs by both bands), then Green Day plays 8-10 songs of their own. I'd fly to SF for that.

That would be such a killer combination. Glad to see this is a really cool event/cause obviously close to the Armstrong family. It will make headlines for both the acts and the hospital.
R_Z-Log Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 I never thought I'd see the words "Green Day" and "Gala" together Seriously though, this seems like it will be awesome! It's for a great cause and, well, it's Green Day so... Yeah.
Jollyroger118 Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Fuck yeah I love Blondie! Lol hope she covers a Green Day song
Akshat Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 I'm pretty sure you guys are a bit naive if you think Green Day only has fans who are broke teenagers. Exactly. Mark Zuckerburg
Flyingdonutz Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Exactly. Mark Zuckerburg I'd like to point out that Green Day is most well known for carrying 2 generations of angsty youth on their back. Most of their fans are indeed broke teenagers. But I'd say about 80 percent (maybe more) of people that have heard of Green Day, like their music. So if a concerts in town they'll go, because a shitty ticket isn't that expensive.
Heather. Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 But I'd say about 80 percent (maybe more) of people that have heard of Green Day, like their music. Statistics are so fun and helpful when they're just pulled out of one's ass. I think 80% is wishful thinking. 80% of people haven't agreed on anything since the whole 'Hitler was probably bad' thing. Nice Green Day reference using the number 80, though. I guess 80% of people agree that 1,039 copies of Uno were sold this month.

I guess 80% of people agree that 1,039 copies of Uno were sold this month. I guess a band that calls out 2 of the worlds biggest popstars, loses their frontman to rehab for months, then comes back out and goes on a massive tour, and lost very little popularity, but basically ALL of their mainstream relevance, and still manages to pull off winning the best rock act at the EMA's which is basically a mainstream popularity award, mustn't be enjoyed by a large majority of people? They've sold more copies than any other rock group formed since 1987. More than Pearl Jam, more than Nirvana, more than Nickelback, more than Linkin Park, more than anyone. Except B'z. Maybe it's not 80 percent. I can't use a specific number. But if I asked everyone I know if they enjoy at least one Green Day song, I'd go so far to say that all of them would say yes. Which one is irrelevant. Because then I don't think you'd find an agreement. The point in my original comment is basically that pretty much anyone will know at least one Green Day song, so if offered an opportunity to see them in concert, they would say yes, but almost all of Green Day's hardcore fans are younger people without a lot of money. Because not too many middle aged people can relate to angsty pop rock.
JOE THE X-KID Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Sorry about creating that new thread, I didn't realise this was already open. But still, cannot wait for this!
