I could see him going on an anti corporate rant

what's the point on playing for non fans of yours?

Posted

weird. no green day fan can afford this so what's it for?

Why you say that?

Why you say that?

doesnt it cost over 1,000 dollars to go? thats what i heard... maybe it's not true

Are there any vids from last year's conference? I'm asking because I'm just curious whether we can expect something this year with Green Day playing there.

Btw, is anyone going there? :ninja:

if i see one more person saying 'this is gunna be another iheart' i'm gunna stab someone i swear to god. JUST BECAUSE IT REVOLVES AROUND TECHNOLOGY DOESN'T MEAN BILLIE WILL SNAP. how little faith do you have in this man jesus christ. he is clean and sober, one video of him acting a bit off or doing a gig like this does not mean, i repeat NOT mean, he is on drugs/drinking again.

i'm just excited for high quality videos tbh.

Yeah, but this is a corporate meetup. Basically it's gonna be Cocaineapalooza. Lotsa temptation.

I don't understand why they would be there??

Went to a conference with hubby once and the band that played was a HUGE favorite of mine from when I was a teenager. Trust me, as soon as they started playing, I looked at hubby and said, "sorry," right before I rushed the stage to be right up front (and in front of the dance floor). Oh, and I wasn't the only one that did that.

So while it's corporate conference does not mean they won't be fans there.

Also, Ben, 50k only? I was thinking it would cost a lot more to have Green Day perform at something like this or any conference or private party.

it may be corporate but that doesn't instantly mean he'll crack. i have a lot of faith in this man (as you now know from Leeds), i truly believe he is on the straight and narrow now. he has a good family around him to look after him *if* anything did entice him. i don't think it will be that bad he'll feel that bad a need to do it but yeah, if anything were to happen, they'll have his back.

i have more faith in that man than anyone. he'll be fine, i genuinely think he has realised what he could have lost & knows it's not worth it.

I'm pretty sure you guys are a bit naive if you think Green Day only has fans who are broke teenagers.

exactly this. they have many fans that aren't broke 20-somethings with dead end jobs who will more than likely be there because it's gunna be pretty exclusive, quite swanky~ i'd go but i am one of those broke-ass people so. yeah. disappointing. i'm happy for them, just jelly of those who get to be there

Well, I'm pretty sure most of them are

So we'll be getting HQ videos? That's awesome!

They should just play 99 Revolutions then leave

How do you know there will be videos from this show?

are you talking about the RHCP performance?? there are a lot of vids on you tube, like -->

There are some from last year's RHCP performance, there's no reason there won't be any with Green Day

This is amazing!! I don't know what the Dreamforce Conference is, but if they're gonna be there, it's gonna be awesome!!!

Well I guess this puts an end to the "last show for a long time dilemma." I just hope this doesn't affect the chances of the Bay Area getting a PROPER under-$1000-ticket Green Day show.

Seems legit to me when the CEO of the company tweets about it.....my husband is in sales...maybe he should attend this conference!

You should definitely have him look into going and of course take you as his +1!!

For those freaking out over hypocrisy, it's really unlikely that this is up to the band. A lot of artists these days don't have any say in where they play, etc.

Remember what Billie Joe said about how had no clue how they ended up playing iHeart, and feeling like shit about it?

It'd really surprise me if the management, or whoever, would pull another thing like that on them.

Not saying this is going to be another iHeart, and I don't blame them for doing this - I bet the attendees will love it and that's what matters. Just saying that I doubt that this was not their decision.

I want to agree with whoever said "I'm just happy for them." Look, this is clearly a somewhat prestigious event in the sense that all the musicians that have come before them at it are world class acts. So in a way, they are just joining that company.

weird. no green day fan can afford this so what's it for? the money? maybe theyre in "make up for our weak ablum sales" mode. Or maybe it's Mark zukerbergs birthday :P

Honestly it wouldn't surprise me if Mark begged Billie to do this for him what with them being friends and all. It's actually possible. And hilarious seeing as he still hates Facebook

Maybe Warner's making them do that?

( I only hope it won't end up like last year's iHeart or similarily...)

Even if Warner isn't making them do this, I don't really give a fuck about this being a sellout move or whatever... they're doing a gig in their hometown, getting a chance to play a fucking huge baseball stadium, and getting a ton of money. Why not. I'd do that in a heart beat

Billie has been ranting against technology at every concert of the 99 Revolutions Tour, sober. I'm not saying he won't be classy at this event, (or that he'll stay quiet either) but his anti Steve Jobs rant was an extreme example under the influence. The man is capable of having an opinion against technology while he's sober, too. And the iHeart rant had nothing to do with technology.
