¡Trilogy! era has come to an end

It's amazing how people just completely fabricate things when they read interviews.

I hope the tour isn't over because I was hoping for, well... at least 1 date in Argentina? As well as all my South American fellows do? Yeah. Just because they'll take a break it doesn't mean it's "the end" :P

As for the trilogy, I like to think that whenever they put out a new record will be the beginning of a new exciting era and the end of the crazy ¡UNO! ¡DOS! and ¡TRÉ! adventures.

So it's not over :)

I think people are spoiled to think "Oh it's not over, they have to do a 2nd U.S. leg, they have to tour Asia, they have to tour the UK, they haven't done X Y or Z yet..." But part of the thing Billie discussed was that he was overworked and that they had been touring nonstop, too much, overworking themselves to death, because they WERE doing MONSTER sized world tours, especially since 2004. Most of us here have been major fans since that time exclusively, so we're used to Green Day doing really really extensive touring. I think it's hard for us to believe that this would be IT, but in reality perhaps this was the change that they needed. Part of Billie's substance abuse was based on him being stressed out and exhausted and overworked, and even so it seems like he's hardly slowed down. When they announced he was writing songs for These Paper Bullets musical, a lot of people reacted with "Wow, that's awesome, but didn't he just say he's been working too hard lately?" (Doing the last musical in between GD tours) He's also constantly writing and planning future projects/collabs.

As much as I'd like to see them tour more, part of me hopes that I'm right and they are slowing it down a bit, at least for the immediate future, to give proper attention to long-term health. I'm sure it was hard for all of them to say "OK, a 4 month tour is enough for now," because they all love performing and they're all workaholics in general, but I think they are trying to think more big picture here. Billie said how last year things slowly started piling up without him realizing it, and that all of a sudden he was overwhelmed with the sheer volume of gigs and shit they had to perform at (between Reading and iHeart and Ellen and GMA and a tour and a tour and a tour being planned after each thing finished). Maybe part of his mental health is the sheer bliss of knowing you have NOTHING planned for the next few months.

I just posted this in the Leeds thread but I thought it was an appropriate point here:

Transcribed from my (shitty) phone audio "This is our last show for a really long time....and we're so fucking grateful to be doing it right here in England!"

His statement implies that he wasn't just talking about England, he was talking about performing more broadly. As if to say "this is our last show for a really long time and it happens to be taking place in England." Aka there won't be any shows, anywhere, for a while.

I doubt the era is over, however I do wonder if they are taking things slightly easier as a result of the rehab. I.e. not touring extensively and sticking to a tried and trusted setlist and not putting a lot of effort into rehearsing the new songs.

Matt said in a previous thread that they were putting together a fall north american tour yet tre said on his instagram that the 99 rev tour was over. Could this just be the first leg? Or are they completely done unti at least soundwave.

It's possible there will be another leg, but then at the same time I don't think Tre would have said the tour was over unless he meant the whole tour, otherwise why not say the first leg of the tour is over? Didn't Billie also say something at Leeds about it being their last show for a long time?

its possible theyll go back to the us because many dates were cancelled and this is their home country. And they might start the tour in decemberish which would be awhile from now. And it might possibly get moved to after soundwave instead.

And andres tweeted about 2 weeks ago saying he was reassured stuff with green day was going on behind the scenes that we'd see soon. Idk if that was about soundwave though

I'm pleased they're dropping the 99 Revolutions Tour label. Now it's time for them to do the tour we've all been waiting for: The Fuck Time tour.

I dunno why they don't just do the "See You Tonight Tour". It even makes logical sense, whereas yours sounds like an invitation to a dodgy sex club :P

I've never thought of that, that's a really cool name for a tour

to be honest, i'm just looking forward to whatever they're planning for soundwave.

they have about 5-6 months in between, so they'd be relaxing and getting freshened up.

i would LOVE to see a fresh green day play in front of me at soundwave and waiting to see what they've got planned (especially since it'll be 5 years since they've been here).

Was Matt's post conjecture or did he actually have scoop? (Hey Matt?)

Well, Andres knows shit, so I believe that. What's "going on" could be any wide variety of things from promoting the trilogy to full out hits/Dookie/AI anniversary promo to writing a new album to tour dates so I'll hold off on even bothering to guess what that means.

Matt posted a spoiler on a thread that was about if green day will go on tour after reading and leeds saying "north american tour for this fall is currently being put together" a month ago or so. And hes the main staff member who updates the news so idk.

isn't autumn (or fall, whatever) really soon though?

it is but the tour might start maybe later like late november or early december. If they started a tour in the fall i really doubt the whole tour would be in the fall. Heres the link to the thread where matt said they were touring north america in the fall http://www.greendaycommunity.org/topic/94393-will-they-go-back-on-tour-after-readingleeds/?fromsearch=1

Fall is right around the corner. Doesn't give much time to buy tix, at least compared to past tours...

well it wouldnt surprise me if the did have a north american tour (which is still an if) it might start novemberish or maybe even early december. Maybe originally they wanted to start it earlier but decided to push it back a bit. But i know nothing more than any other green day fan knows. All i know is andres said 2 weeks ago on twitter big news was to come and matt said a north american tour was being put together

Maybe they just haven't told Billie yet because they don't want to overwhelm him :P Just tell him to show up somewhere on a given day

I didn't believe Matt when he said that and I still don't. Seriously, how the fuck could he possibly know that?

Haha well. Idk. Ive loved green day for 8 years or so and this would be the first time id be able to go see them so i really want them to tour the us for a 2nd leg. And i doubt matt wouldve lied or made a wild guess about something that big but i wont 100% believe anythings happening until its confirmed

It would suck if they were planning something and for whatever reason changed their minds recently.

I hope they do another leg

yea tho im just gonna wait for a few weeks. If they dont announce anything by the end of september then they probably wont do anything until after soundwave. It be kinda weird tho for them not to go out again

my sister was supposed to go to one of the PA shows, and it got cancelled.

WERE YOU GUYS GONNA GO TO MOHEGAN SUN ARENA IN WILKES-BARRE TOO?!

Seriously though if they don't come back I'm going to cry. I'm still bitter as fuck about my would-be first concert getting cancelled.
