iScottie Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Didn't Mike say that they want The Trilogy to sell more before they play it?
X-Kid-X Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 I was just messing around I actually think they will get to exhausted. It is really fast, and it dosen't fit very well in the setlist for this tour. It's a great opener though I'm sorry but that's a stupid thing to say. Get too exhausted? This is not Justin Bieber we're talking about. They're not the kind of guys who will drink too much milk and throw up. I'm not saying I know why they won't play DRB but rest assure it's not cuz it's too fast -_- I've learnt it on guitar myself and have to say it's a simple song to play but really dam tiring. 9 Minutes of non-stop strumming, at a fairly fast rate. It's not like JOS or Homecoming where their's so many parts to the song that some you can relax during it and don't have to play, my guess is that it's just a waste of energy to play for them. Shame as it's a decent song, possibly the best from Tre IMO! DRB is less than 7 minutes... if you keep strumming for 3 extra minutes.. that's pretty weird. I'm sure they'll play all of the 37 songs eventually (maybe not Nightlife..) I don't think there's a specific reason not to play DRB.
Jon Benjamin Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 In my opinion in the second leg of the tour (if they will do one) they will add a lot of the songs off the trilogy in the setlist. As you know yesterday they did Walk Away, Amy and Loss of Controll, and they started playing Let Yourself Go from Motreaux 'till now. I know that we don't know nothing about a second leg or something but if they will do that they will start playing new songs like DRB, Lazy Bones, Carpe Diem and so on, well it's just it's just an assumption that I'm doing xD In Milan they played DRB in the soundcheck and Lazy Bones in Bologna so, for sure, they didn't forget those songs Loss of Control and Amy?
Iain Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 While relearning the songs for Dookie, he accidentally overwrote Dirty Rotten Bastards, and he hasn't gotten around to re-learning it again. Wait, what? Care to elaborate? 0_o But then again, all he needs to do is learn Shoplifter, so I dunno. Search me. ...thanks, but I'll pass on the offer.
Castr0 Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 It's kinda funny because they just played A Quick One While He's Away and Walk Away like 2 hours ago WALK AWAY LIVE ! Oh My Fucking god I have to find this
ZSebs Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 They should've called this tour the "Dirty Rotten Bastards Tour." First, that would be a great name because it's like 4 little bastards (6 if you count Matika and Freese) going on tour. Perfect. Second, they would most likely open with that song then and everything would be good and fun.
Minority103 Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Loss of Control and Amy? Oh fuck, it was a fake setlist maybe?! Ahah sorry, so they played just Walk Away and A Quick One While He's Away
Hermione Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Every time I see the title of this thread I imagine a crying Green Day fan begging Green Day to play DRB and them saying "no, we refuse, hahaha!" Wait, what? Care to elaborate? 0_o He's just joking.
Thisnamehasnoreason Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 i think its to expected it was written to be played live but i think they just got over it im fine with hearing any song that want to play.
jacknovella Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 It is a shame because it would undoubtedly be a killer song live, but maybe they just don't want to play it because of the reaction to the other trilogy songs when they play them live?
Guest Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Wait, what? Care to elaborate? 0_o Did you never play Pokémon as a kid? Did you even have a childhood?
Sanity Loan Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 What is this, a 'complain about the setlists' thread? You people don't deserve to see Green Day live. Yeah, watching King for a Day on youtube isn't fun, but when you're there, in the arena, seeing them in real life, it's the BEST part of the show.I totally disagree. Of the handful of times I've seen the band, Kind For a Day is the worst part of the show. For me, I think it's because of watching Bullet In a Bible too much and seeing/hearing it there.
Iain Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 I don't mind the setlist at all. However, if DRB was ever played at a show I attended, I could die happy. Simple as that.
Virtue Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 I really do hope so..and maybe they'll do it the 2nd Leg of the tour. On the bright side, from the looks of the last "Guitar Technician" video, going through all their equipment and stuff. I'm personally hoping more to hear "Kill The DJ" Live. (Even if it's already been played live )
wasteaway420 Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Its really sad to see so many complaining like spoiled lil teeny bobbin girls.. green day make there own setlist.. you dont like it dont pay the 45 to 50 dollar ticket.
Nimrod2309 Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 As much as I would love to hear this song live, it will not be the end of the world if they never play it. I have to honestly say that I have never found myself wishing they wouldn't play certain songs in order to hear my favourites. I even enjoy my skip tracks (like KYE) live. Perhaps it's because they sound different every time coupled with the unique crowd vibe in the air at each individual show. I always feel fortunate just to be there. Hearing rare tracks is just an added bonus.

This tour I was just waiting for KFAD to be over when I saw them live.
Slave To The Network Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Because Billie Joe is basically a Pokémon, he can only remember a certain amount of songs at any given time. While relearning the songs for Dookie, he accidentally overwrote Dirty Rotten Bastards, and he hasn't gotten around to re-learning it again. I don't normally agree with you, but this cracked me up! That is seriously the best thing I've read all day! XD Did you never play Pokémon as a kid? Did you even have a childhood? Amen to that! I hope they play it live at least on time on tour. It's like the Jesus of Suburbia of the Trilogy. I'd love to see what they can do with DRB on stage! Definitely one of my favorite songs from the new albums.
Neurotics Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Some songs just don't get in the setlist. Wait for a decade or two until then Billie is gonna say "Fuck it we are gonna play DRB. We haven't played this sing ever since we recorded it."
Todd Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 I totally disagree. Of the handful of times I've seen the band, Kind For a Day is the worst part of the show. For me, I think it's because of watching Bullet In a Bible too much and seeing/hearing it there. Lol, stop watching it then Really? SamMacs Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 If I could decide King For A Day would be long gone from setlists. It’s like a joke that has been told way too many times. It’s predictable and they could do three great songs instead of one (with some half-arsed covers) that just drags on.
Sanity Loan Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Lol, stop watching it thenFantastic advice, seeing as I haven't watched it in a couple years

It’s predictable and they could do three great songs instead of one (with some half-arsed covers) that just drags on. I was glad when they dropped it and the covers at Brixton. It's just unnecessary, and I was much happier that they used the time to play extra songs.
Tubbie Head Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 I'm sorry but King for a Day is a trademark of a GD show (just like the drunk bunny). And I want them to play it forever! Best part of the show in my opinion, no matter how many times I've seen it.
