fatherotti Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Why would they have trouble with Platypus? Cause Billie isn't on speed anymore...same reason he stopped playing Jaded after 1999 and had Jason do it instead lol.
Guest Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Cause Billie isn't on speed anymore...same reason he stopped playing Jaded after 1999 and had Jason do it instead lol. Jason is literally the opposite of a person on speed though.
Flyingdonutz Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Well, I'm pretty sure Platypus is the fastest and most aggressive song... ah don't worry. Having a blast is my favourite alongside Longview, Welcome to Paradise and Basket Case. Cause Billie isn't on speed anymore...same reason he stopped playing Jaded after 1999 and had Jason do it instead lol. I hope you both aren't serious. If a 50 year old James Hetfield can still rip out a song like Battery which is far faster than any Green Day song, and much harder to play too, while singing, Billie can play Platypus and Jaded. I get a lot more tired playing Battery than any other song and I'm full of energy.
Jon Benjamin Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Jason is literally the opposite of a person on speed though. That is so true

Cause if age has nothing to do with it...and drugs have nothing to do with it...then um...lol. Oddly enough he CAN still play Platypus as we've seen in the years since....I just wish he would stop dancing around and get to back playing music haha. 1998 2000

Jaded and Platypus aren't massive Green Day hits that will appeal to a crowd of 30 thousand as Green Day plays in front of usually.
DeAmbassador Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 About the oldies, it is not a matter of WHEN you play it, it's a matter of WHERE you play it. e.g. In *insert festival name here* with 50000+ people, they will play a mix of new stuff and hits cause they're aware that a large part of the audience knows only the hits, and maybe something of their new album(s), so they'll play what the audience wants to hear. But when you play in a small venue(like Irving Plaza and Comp'd on Fuse), you know that most likely you have diehard fans in there, so you can play a little surprise or two.
EastCaitNowhere Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Don't crucify me but I like the trilogy over dookie Preach.
michael1989 Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 This!!! Me 5 (or whatever the count is). Really wishing they'd play more trilogy stuff.
SumDay Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Imagine if Nimrod got re-recorded... They might have a bit of trouble with Platypus well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gY76qcesTbY They still play pretty fast live so I don't think there would be a problem

It's not that he couldn't do it, it's that the speed caused him to do it. IDK, if you've never done stimulants you might not understand what I'm saying. It's just that he didn't necessarily choose to act that way for earlier Jaded performances.

WhiteTim Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 I wouldn't want a re recorced Platypus Not cause I think Billie couldn't play it fast cause I think he can but because the passion behind his vocals wouldn't be the same as he doesn't hate the guy anymore I heard tho Billie has recorded a follow up called I Really Hate You about Andres i heard Billie was mad cause Andres wouldnt give him an autograph... lol

LudeBoy Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 (back on topic) i think the only logical thing to assume is a live dookie album.
green day is Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 I honestly can't believe you're even making this argument. It's really really dumb. It's dumb to say that people on drugs act different?
Flyingdonutz Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Don't requote videos. that post was literally 100 percent unnecessary. like all it did was take up a big space that could have been used for a post that was making a point. kind of like this one except you asked for it, I didn't. It's dumb to say that people on drugs act different? It's dumb to say that Billie can't play Platypus and Jaded anymore cause he no longer does meth. I honestly really question whether anyone here plays guitar or not, it's not hard to play a bunch of powerchords really fast at all not even physically. Your arm might get a bit sore but outside of that... not really. And if Billie can play St. Jimmy, he can play any Green Day song because that's as fast as it gets.

Fuzz Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 It's dumb to say that people on drugs act different? No. It's dumb to say that taking drugs somehow gives you superhuman powers to play guitar that without it you can't do.
green day is Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 It's dumb to say that Billie can't play Platypus and Jaded anymore cause he no longer does meth. I said that's why he doesn't, and expressly said that he probably could if he wanted to. Never said he can't. No. It's dumb to say that taking drugs somehow gives you superhuman powers to play guitar that without it you can't do. That's not what I said either. I see how you might have gotten that from my post, though, mainly from the "energy speed gives you" part. I don't know what else to say other than he's obviously going to put more energy into it on stimulants than not. Not sure why that's hard to understand.

Wheres your proof Billie was a meth head when he did Platypus?
green day is Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Wheres your proof Billie was a meth head when he did Platypus? I'm talking about Jaded live. I don't know about Platypus.
