IlariaIDIOT Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 When I Come Around acoustic is magic. Anyway who knowwws.
Iain Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 You're all pessimists, lol. There's not really a whole lot more evidence that they WON'T re-record Dookie than if they will. All we know at this point is that they've re-recorded Pulling Teeth. Who's to say they haven't done the rest of the album and are planning a 2 disk release of a live DVD of Dookie and a re-recorded Dookie? Especially with the 20th anniversary coming up in like 5 months. I can't see why they'd play the album live 4 times and at a friggen festival where the album will be recorded professionally with cranes and all that shit if they aren't planning something like this. If they don't? Oh well. But there are things saying that's what they're up to. What you call pessimism, I call constructive thinking. There's no point getting excited over something that hasn't even been announced as such, hell I'll even say it would be stupid to give away the idea this way so soon. As much as you can say there's evidence to suggest a Dookie re-recording, there's just enough evidence to say it isn't. For example, BJA already stated that it is practice, and it's not the first time they've re-recorded songs for the sake of sound and never released them. On top of that, yes, Dookie could have a live album for it, but in another way, I don't see why that would happen, because I don't see why Dookie should get a Live Album exclusively, while it's just as well to get a 20th anniversary re-release with some goodies attached to it. A live album could be one of those, but I won't bet on it. Again, not to be a massive negative asshole, but I don't tend to get excited over speculation and I usually see it fit to be against the flow and bring the speculation crashing back down to earth, because it's better to be realistic and open since then, you won't be disappointed. Constructive thinking isn't as much negative as it is rational. He was all like "in the studio remixing Wild One" or some shit like that. And everyone was like "OMG that means they're gonna release the remixed tracks on an extended version of Cuatro!" or some dumb ass shit like that lol People just get excited over the little things and assert that it's the real thing when the body producing it has yet to establish what they're really doing, but the fans will get excited over it regardless only for them to be disappointed or forget about it.
Eldoon Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 I still love how folks think the trilogy is over produced Dookie and AI had way more production tricks on them than the trilogy so they must be REALLY overproduced... I think when people say the Trilogy is "overproduced" they really mean that it was terribly fucked over in post-production/mixing decisions. The initial "record with a new instrumental setup" and everything is cool, but there's definitely some sort of weird gloss over a lot of the tracks that is unnecessary. It's evident even on Dos, which I think is the best sounding record of the three.

Iva Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Live Dookie record will probably do for the anniversity. But they just need to do it perfect. There was only one error on the first full performance of Dookie - Billie Joe screwed up the lyrics to Pulling Teeth. The second time around, within two days' time, he did that right. So, a mix of those two shows would be enough. And yup, there's a voice in me making me say it out loud: not everything has to be from UK.
Jack Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Sorry to burst everyones' bubbles, but I debunked this. I took out the audio from those Instagram videos, and compared it side-by-side with the audio from when they played Dookie in Serbia awhile back. Sadly, the audio from the videos is just the soundboard recording from the show, but slowed down a little bit.

If they're mixing and slowing things down in the studio, they're doing something with it.

How does that account for the fact that the Pulling Teeth Instagram video had prominent acoustic guitar, when they played the song on electric guitars only in Serbia? Did they add overdubs to the live recordings?

Did they add overdubs to the live recordings? The Instagram one was just clean electric, I'm not sure why everyone thinks it's acoustic.
Florence Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 So, a mix of those two shows would be enough. And yup, there's a voice in me making me say it out loud: not everything has to be from UK. omg that would be awesome! I hope they can use the audio recorded in Austria THAT DAMN SANDSTORM
Eldoon Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 The Instagram one was just clean electric, I'm not sure why everyone thinks it's acoustic. Either way, even just by listening to the Serbia performance of Pulling Teeth and the Instagram recording side-by-side, they're pretty distinct. The same guitar tones are not present in both.

Eldoon Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Difference is theres only crappy youtube footage from camera phones vs soundboard recording... Big difference... I'm still not convinced. There are enough significant differences in the Instagram Pulling Teeth recording to suggest that it's clearly not from the soundboard or a slowed down soundboard recording of the show in Serbia. The way the vocals sound compared to the live clips, the way Tre's cymbal playing is different, the aforementioned clean guitar vs. distorted live guitar. It's not just something that gets lost in crappy YouTube evidence...it's entire ways in which the song is performed in both clips.
WorryRock02 Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 maybe they're planning something for next year. A possible release of DOOKIE in a remastered version
Guest Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 maybe they're planning something for next year. A possible release of DOOKIE in a remastered version Now there's an idea.
The Disappearing Boy Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Green Day has never really been one for looking back in that sense. Mike said in an interview once (possibly on Cuatro) that they would only go back to their Dookie days if it felt right to them. I think they're probably just practising it, and we can probably look forward to seeing/hearing it at one or all of the upcoming UK shows.
WestboundSign! Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 I'm really excited to hear more and hope there's something waiting for us. Doesn't matter if it's a live-recording, a re-recording or a DVD. It would be wonderful to have something. I hope they can use the audio recorded in Austria THAT DAMN SANDSTORM That sandstorm really wanted to ruin everything, didn't it?
Iva Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 omg that would be awesome! I hope they can use the audio recorded in Austria THAT DAMN SANDSTORM I think people must be getting sick of you and me being obsessed with this.
Akshat Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 cause 20 is a bigger milestone than 10. Wow then after every 10 years they should re-record an album. If at all thy re-record dookie it should happen after 25 years.
belinda jane Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Wow then after every 10 years they should re-record an album. If at all thy re-record dookie it should happen after 25 years. huh? i'm just saying 20 years is bigger than 10 years. maybe they should've done it at 25, but that's their decision.
peppermint butler Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Don't crucify me but I like the trilogy over dookie
