porksoda Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 If they re-recording any albums, I'd say Kerplunk or 1039 would be the best choices. Maybe they're going to release new versions with a Dookie 20th Anniversary CD next year.
Fuzz Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 cause 20 is a bigger milestone than 10. You know what's bigger than 20? 25. If they re-recording any albums, I'd say Kerplunk or 1039 would be the best choices. Maybe they're going to release new versions with a Dookie 20th Anniversary CD next year. I would choose those to be re-recorded over Dookie any day.
belinda jane Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 You know what's bigger than 20? 25. this is also correct. who knows what they're going to do, honestly. everyone's just assuming these things are going to happen. we don't know any facts.
greendepent Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 I prefer 100000 times a re-record than a remaster. Remasters always fuck up everything. This sounds as a re-record. Chump sounds more like the trilogy, and Pulling Teeth it's like some kind of dramma queen. but better.
Gregorovich Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Remasters always fuck up everything. I hope you're joking.
WhiteTim Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 I hope you're joking. Alot of remasters are shitty escp on albums from the 90's all they do is just make sure the loudness wins (case in point Nevermind 20th...) Production and mastering is expensive. Why would one go to the trouble of recording and mastering an album, then not promote it at all? (guess we can ask whoever was responsible for the trilogy) Green Day owns Jingletown Studio so studio time doesnt matter to them...
OldWhatsHisFace Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 I agree what you're all saying about it makes no sense and they've just come out of the studio. It is the 20th anniversary of their breakthrough album, this is a pretty big milestone for them, they should at the very least remaster it! Just for something celebratory for the anniversary! and it's not about what you want re-recorded or that it sounds fine, it's the 20th anniversary. I also agree with whoever said 25 is bigger that 20. But yeah, they're incredibly unpredictable, we don't know what they're doing until they have done it, or started making it. If I recall correctly, they announced the trilogy when they went into the studio properly. They will obviously have recorded the songs prior to the actual recording, so maybe this is also the pre-studio recordings!? All I wanna say is, we can't really rule anything out as much as we can't make any drastic assumptions. P.S. If this is only practice, it's might be practice for some pretty big festivals so maybe it'll be televised?
Triii Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 At the end it would be a good promotion. I can't believe that the management misses this chance
Neurotics Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Live Dookie record will probably do for the anniversity. But they just need to do it perfect.
James! Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 He's put Brixton Leeds and reading my opinion is it will be broixton only I'd there gunna release the album with live versions there not gunna want pro shots from reading surfacing on the Internet I think we will get a normal set at reading and Leeds
green day is Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 I also agree with whoever said 25 is bigger that 20. Thank you for letting us know your thoughts on this. It's sure to spark an interesting discussion with many well-thought-out points.
Triii Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 He's put Brixton Leeds and reading my opinion is it will be broixton only I'd there gunna release the album with live versions there not gunna want pro shots from reading surfacing on the Internet I think we will get a normal set at reading and Leeds But the same happened with World Stage
James! Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 But the same happened with World Stage The BBC always show full headline sets the only show I know they've cut short was The Cures encore because it was Six songs so they showed one , according to the BBC magazines and stuff Green Day are on for their full time
Sarcasm Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 fucking hell I wish this was true and they just put out a digital download for it for 5$ Cause why the fuck not, Green Day? Huh? Why the FUCK not?
angry_robot Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Live Dookie record will probably do for the anniversity. But they just need to do it perfect. It makes sense. And that's why they practice it in studio.
JOE THE X-KID Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 If they're gonna re-record anything, it should be the pre-dookie stuff. Dookie's quality is just fine. aww man, who wrote Holden caufield recorded now...
Johnny Higher Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 If they do that, they have to call the album Liquid Dookie ! ^^ That was the first name of Dookie, but finally abandoned. Anyway I super excited to see a new Dookie ! Great news to start the day !
veidar45 Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 It does seem odd. Especially considering how different the band's mentality was during the secret shows, where they indeed played half the Trilogy. "Fuck the past, think about now, think about the future". Um....where is that Green Day? Maybe after Billie's meltdown it's kinda hard for them to go back to that party-club mood during the secret shows. Also most of the songs are not so suitable for big stadium or festival concerts, they're more appropriate for a club party gig. That's why they're doing a "Best Of" tour. + Dookie, at a time (been to Belgrade, one of the best days of my life )
tvrman Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 The BBC always show full headline sets Hardly ever. None of the headline sets I have recorded over the years have full sets. It would be nice to be different this year but I am not expecting it based on previous year's coverage (that I have seen) and it would be a HUGE bow by the BBC to Green Day if they did. Back on topic; chill guys and gals, I think Billie's just yanking your chains.
SumDay Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 I think you just can't hold on the things they said before his meltdown. There was soo much shit going on, I don't don't think any of the things they announced or said in that time, are going to happen or are even true. Specially that "Fuck the past, think about now, think about the future" thing. He said that during a concert didn't he? So you can assume that he was drunk as hell. I personally think this "meltdown-era" changed them a lot. So we can just wait and hope the best for the future, but I think a sober Billie will make awesome music/decisions.
scottrowan200 Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Why the fuck would they just record practice sessions? Although Billie did trick us with remixing/re-recording Trilogy tracks, but anyways I'd love a re-recording of Dookie. I'm a whore for Green Day. Anything they put out, I soak up and love. There's nothing they can do that I wouldn't like. A collaboration with Justin Bieber? I'd no longer be a JB hater. Seriously, these are my idols that I've followed since I was 8. So don't try to tell me that there's something I shouldn't like or that I shouldn't like something just because it's Green Day. I understand why some people don't like the idea, and you don't have to be a "I love Green Day no matter what" fan like me to be a good fan. I'm not trying to say you guys aren't good fans. I don't care if Green Day records Dookie or Taylor Swift's Red. I just love new shit A lot of bands record rehearsals to listen back and analyse them see what they could change or for guitar tones and stuff
Sarcasm Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 A lot of bands record rehearsals to listen back and analyse them see what they could change or for guitar tones and stuffbut why do that for an 19 year old album? you'd think they've done this already
green day is Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 but why do that for an 19 year old album? you'd think they've done this already Because they also said they haven't played some of those songs in 19 years.
scottrowan200 Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 And they will want to perfect it for a massive festival with radio and tv coverage like reading and Leeds can't be messing them up
alienlifeform Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 be sure people, this are just practice sessions being recorded.. the only way for us to hear it sometime, is the band quit playing.. than their label will release it as bonus tracks or something in the next years.. deluxe version of their albuns. they probably have tons of things like this recorded over the years
