Also, it's a damn crime that The Airborne Toxic Event isn't on that list.

Mumford and Sons are higher than Green Day???

I saw their performance at the Brit Awards. It was dead.

And Skillrex, Jay-Z etc. might be great on record but I can't see what pleasure could be gained of seeing them live. Perhaps this is narrow minded of me, but I firmly believe raw rock music tends to deliver the most exciting live performances.

Well, no, I guess those jazz and blues shows my dad used to take me to were pretty exhilarating in a different way, but still they weren't relying on a lot of strobe lights and computer generated sounds.

Really? What a terrible list. :ermm:

Only rappers I'd say be on top 50 live act would be The Roots and David Banner

David Banner makes his show just like a rock show crowd surfin hangin off balconies jumpin from top pf the venue on to the mosh pit his show is exciting

but kayne west is actually really good live :( i've seen him twice and he is so hilarious.

each to their own. obviously everyone is going to love different live performances.

Is he? I've only seen him once it was during his first album era and he wasnt really that good but that was 10 yrs ago so he could easily improved since then

maybe they should play more new songs.

i wish i could've seen him then so i could compare - but he interacts with the crowd heaps and since everyone knows he has a big ego, he actually plays with it a lot.

people think he's a dick, but he's so funny.

Hey they got the top spot correct. Springsteen is the best ever. Also a fair few bands higher up that I would love to go and see live. Didn't think much of the Black Keys live show though.

I think he's funny personally but I'm used to egos like that

He's always at that spot in all the live shows lists

ive seen jay z live... hes ok. nothing to green day's standard. he basically lived off the hype that it was a show in ny and thats his 'hometown' wooo -___- same with m&s... they arent that good. not even half the energy of green day. this list is a joke. the fact green day is only one up above taylor swift makes me want to puke.

Complete and utter bullshit. Green Day should be in the Top 10, or at the very least, the Top 15. And of course Rolling Stone would put shitty Arcade Fire in the Top 10, they can't wank it enough to that band.

Pissed. I've seen a ton of artists live, from old to new. Green Day is still one of the best performances I've ever seen. They're so consistently great. I don't get why all these publications get their rocks off by giving the shaft to Green Day whenever they get the chance.

How is including them in their top 50 "giving the shaft to Green Day" exactly?

Mate the only highlight of that was Billie's declaration of his love for Rihanna's vagina.

I agree with the consensus of moving Green Day up at least into the top twenty, if not even higher. Even though I like Alabama Shakes, I have a hard time seeing there live show being better then Green Day. Although petty I would move up Paul McCartney into the top ten, even into the top five. Saw him a couple of weeks ago in Milwaukee. Three hours and nearly 40 songs for a 71 year old man. I could only hope to be doing something I love like he does with music at that age. Plus the concert had a lot of show-stopping moments that a fair amount of bands both ahead and behind him on that list, who are lucky enough if they can get one moment. Also a petty movement up, but I would move the Foo Fighters at least into the top twenty as well. I saw them at Summerfest and they are rock at its purest form; loud and lots of guitars!! Even though I disagree with the list when it comes to Green Day, I'd love to see a fair amount of these bands/artists live.

Who decided? Staff writers? Fans? Green Day is number one to me, and since I live ifn my own world, that's all that I need!

Because they ranked them lowly...? I thought that was pretty self-explanatory.

I was happy to see that they're on the list but they are definitely too low on it. Even objectively, Green Day is a fantastic live band. I don't understand how some out of key rappers ranked higher but I digress.

Ugh...the fact that the fucking Foo Fighters aren't even in the top twenty really...ugh...

Mature.

I'm sorry, don't ban me :(

There are a lot more than 50 bands in the world. If they were "giving them the shaft" they'd just not include them! The Flaming Lips aren't even included at all!

The list is made up of "legacy" artists and current artists, and Green Day are definitely of the half that are playing live shows off the back of their legacy. And the legacy artists that are way higher up the list, such as Springsteen or the Stones, are there because they're not just rattling off the same set, in Springsteen's case he plays a completely different set every single night. Neil Young and Pearl Jam play whatever the fuck they want. Tom Petty and Paul McCartney pull out the deep cuts from their (much bigger) discographies. Green Day are still playing the safe greatest hits set that this article criticises Tom Petty for sticking to in tours gone by.

I am kind of pissed they put Green Day at number 48, I guess. But what I'm really mad about is Paul McCartney only being at 15, and the Flaming Lips not being included. The Foos, Rush, Tame Impala, and Muse should also be moved up in my opinion :ninja:

Anyway, Green Day is a fantastic live band that should be in at least the top twenty. Why not switch them with Jay Z? From what I've seen he's awful live :P

This is awesome XD
