belinda jane Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 i hope they show this on our ovation channel here! (i am checking this right now).
Laura! Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 I think Time Warner gave us Palladia instead of this. Oh well, I know one of you lovely people will record it... I hope.
Heather. Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 I'm wondering if this is actually a full ep dedicated to GD or if they're just briefly mentioned in cahoots with all the other legends? Or if tonight's is even THE GD episode? I guess we'll find out. I can't believe I get 900 channels and none of them are Ovation Although apparently it's a struggling network and many companies have been dropping it. I'd never heard of it and I'm sure none of us had
Whatsinaname Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 excited for this tonight!! got my DVR set for it and will figure out how to put it on youtube afterwards for all you that don't get the channel, because I hate being the person who doesn't get that channel and for once I am the person who has the channel I'm so excited I get this channel too! Thank you for recording it for us, I would but I don't have a recording device UGH! At least I have Comcast (cable company). I never knew this channel existed until this thread. I am tuned in now..."A portrait of Green Day" It's on NOW
tdlyon Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 It's not great so far. All stuff we've seen tons of times.
Robin105 Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 I'll watch the rest but I think the whole thing is just going to be other people talking about everything leading up to now. All stuff we've heard 100 times before.
Whatsinaname Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 So far it is stuff we have seen before, but the commentary is interesting. Especially the English accents
The Grohl Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 So I finished watching this and it was okay. It was pretty much a bunch of people sitting around talking about all their albums, which is pretty much what we do on GDC lol Also, for some reason that weird guy with the curly hair annoyed me.
DeadbeatCastaway Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 well, if anyone was curious the show was basically a little half hour documentary of Green Day from their start up to uno dos tre. It was a tad on the boring side, but I found it mostly satisfactory. I'll get it onto my computer later tonight and post it on youtube sometime tonight or in the wee hours of the morning tomorrow and post a link for anyone who still wants to watch it. It's' okay, he annoyed me too haha. It wasn't bad though, but not something I would watch again and again

But it was nice to see a music documentary, let alone a Green Day one, on TV.
R_Z-Log Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 I watched it too... Nothing to write home about, but it was entertaining if you want to watch a half hour long show about Green Day (and why wouldn't you). It was actually only about 20 minutes, with 10 minutes of commercials. A lot of snippets from music videos and such, with some commentary from people. They VERY vaguely discussed 1039SOSH and Kerplunk, spent a few minutes on Dookie, a minute or two each on Insomniac, Nimrod, and Warning, and then went to American Idiot. The annoying guy that was discussed earlier in the thread (who was obviously just too cool for school), made some snarky remark about how American Idiot wasn't really THAT good, but it worked for the time, and then they talked about 21st Century Breakdown, the trilogy, and Billie Joe's rehab. Thankfully they did NOT show any footage from I heart radio, and then went on to discuss how they're an amazing live band, and just because they sell a lot of records that does not mean they are sell outs. The end.
WhiteTim Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 So I'm the only the one who agrees with the snarly remark of AI
Virtue Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 A lot of stuff I've seen before. "..A Thousand times, and now a thousand one"

Heather. Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 I always like hearing random people talk about Green Day. I might be one of the only people who actually enjoyed Pogo Paradise and all those docs that don't really feature the band. IDK, I just love hearing some of my own fangirl thoughts validated by people, however unqualified they are. well, if anyone was curious the show was basically a little half hour documentary of Green Day from their start up to uno dos tre. Prepared to mentally beat the shit out of a curly haired guy
WhiteTim Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 yes It is a good album its top 5 of GD's albums but i dunno i guess since it took years for me to really like the full cd its not that great great as alot make it to be
