Tubbie Head Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Cool! I'm glad there are audio things to listen to them, if not I'm not sure if I would vote 'cause (most) solos aren't really something I remember from songs. It seems that I always vote for the fastest solos I love the ones from Kerplunk and SMOSH! Lady Cobra, love that solo for some reason Drama Queen is gorgeous 8th Avenue Serenade too. Amanda! Ok, this is making me realise how much I love the Trilogy solos Misery <3
Certified Nimrod Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Also the mini sax solo in Jackass deserves a shoutout even though it's not guitar cause it's badass. The first time I listened to that song, I thought Billie was yelling or something until the sax started doing other stuff. xD
Hermione Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Also the mini sax solo in Jackass deserves a shoutout even though it's not guitar cause it's badass. This is true. It also kind of sounds like the "Whooooaaaa Bodyform, Bodyform for yoooouuuu!" bit of the song in the old Bodyform sanitary pad adverts though http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asXw2a4kQLc Since that was pointed out to me it's all I can hear when I listen to it
Cath Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 listening to them that way makes me realized that 1039 SOSH and Kerplunk got awesome solos, even though they're not fan favorite albums.
green day is Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 listening to them that way makes me realized that 1039 SOSH and Kerplunk got awesome solos, even though they're not fan favorite albums. Kerplunk is the only one hipster elitists will listen to if that counts for anything.
Hermione Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 listening to them that way makes me realized that 1039 SOSH and Kerplunk got awesome solos, even though they're not fan favorite albums. So true! Especially 1039, the fun and awesome solos are one of the best things about the album.
naliuj Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Just because one thing is more complex or difficult than another it doesn't have to be better, right? That way of thinking just reminds me of the people claiming that Green Day are not talented musicians because many of their songs are easy to play. Then again, I'm not a guitar player, so I just go for the ones that bring me closest to an eargasm I know what you mean. Have you read the comment thread on Billie's Doublecut Les Paul Jr on Gibson? I dont know much about bass or drums but i heard that Tré is an incredible drummer and in my opinion Mike is a pretty good bassist.
Insomniac45 Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 I really hope Worry Rock stay past the first round. Probably one of the more melodic solos Billie has ever made. One of my personal favorites too.
green day is Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 I really hope Worry Rock stay past the first round. Probably one of the more melodic solos Billie has ever made. One of my personal favorites too. It's just the vocal melody :/
DookieLukie Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 If the Tubbies solos were included, they'd easily win.
PanicAttack! Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 I can't get the audio samples to work, which is really annoying cause I can't be bothered to manually search out all the solo snippets. Anyone know what could be wrong?
PanicAttack! Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 The Forgotten and 21 guns...hmmmmmmmmmmm! Those are two very classy solos, and far more original and thoughtful than the 10 second shredding sessions most of you seem to favorite, but I'd go with The Forgotten because the solo is the definite climax of that song, 21 Guns' is undoubtedly the bridge right before the solo
The Grouch is Tracy Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 I went through and played them all at the same time.......why? Because I could........
Fuzz Posted July 22, 2013 Author Posted July 22, 2013 I can't get the audio samples to work, which is really annoying cause I can't be bothered to manually search out all the solo snippets. Anyone know what could be wrong? What's happening? What browser are you using?
PanicAttack! Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 What's happening? What browser are you using? Opera at the moment, I'll just check if the other browsers work
Nimrod2309 Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 This must have taken ages to put together. Great job guys! Thanks for putting so much time and effort into this. Some of these were so hard to choose. I felt like I was being forced to choose my favourite child. Cant wait to see the results of the first round!
Fuzz Posted July 22, 2013 Author Posted July 22, 2013 Final day to vote in this round. After tonight only 46 will go on. Be sure to vote!
Sarcasm Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 The best solo I've heard from "the guys" is the one in Broadway, that solo is legendary to me, it's genius and catchy.
PanicAttack! Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 WMUWSE has such a classic solo, and it's such a treat live. But what a shame it went up against the sexy beast that is Fuck Time.
green day is Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Final day to vote in this round. After tonight only 46 will go on. Be sure to vote! When we finish, just please don't list in a top X format or anything, only show the winner. Using single bracket it's gonna be bullshit if you do a list, with the only one guaranteed to be right being the first.
tubbyfox Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 I can't get the audio samples to work, which is really annoying cause I can't be bothered to manually search out all the solo snippets. Anyone know what could be wrong? Me too! V. annoying.
WestboundSign! Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 This is such a great idea for a tournament, really! Really looking forward to round 2 But I could unfortunately only listen to the audio snippets when using Internet Explorer (and I hate doing so, really). No idea why it wouldn't work for me in Firefox, but whatever - I at least got to vote
