naliuj Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 Yeah. Wow. It doesn't feel like it was that long ago. I was staying with my grandparents in Germany at the time and since my Grandparents are borng, they dom't have a computer so the first time i heard Oh Love was the day after it came out or so when i visited my cousin for the day. I thought it was an amazng song when i first watched it as a lyric video. After i did some looking around i found a video from 2010 on youtube where Green Day played Stay the Night at a sound check. The audio quality was kinda crappy but i began the like it even more then Oh Love. If you want to check out the Stay the Night video (i dont know how many of you guys have already seen it) the link is here: Sorry for typeos. Im on an ipad right now so typing is a little difficult.
haveUgotAny Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Wow, almost a year already man ! I still listen to the albums constantly although i pretty much abandoned Dos! with Stray Heart being the only exception. Pretty hard year on the band with all that happened, commercially the trilogy was a huge flop, and i even think the guys on the band are letting it show in those festival gigs that they're not happy with it. Overall i think it was a solid effort but i think the albums were poorly mixed and should never have been a trilogy, they should have released around 18 songs, would have been a much stronger album, but still i enjoy many songs it's just that when it's your favorite band you want them to succeed in every release. From now on i'm expecting a huge comeback album, a masterpiece that will remind the world how great these guys are and blow our freaking mind!
Iva Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Oh Love came out while I was dead busy with the fan-only promotional work around John Frusciante's two 2012 releases and I did not get to enjoy it properly until I heard it live. It was only after my first Green Day show in May that I watched the music video and only at my second show that I was jumping to it. Sometimes, obligations and stress prevent us from enjoying and even grasping something as beautiful as that. As for trilogy in its entirety, I believe the last part is now one of my favourite albums. Shame it's the least promoted one, it's so good that it needs to be played throughout, like Dookie and both rock operas.
