Billie Hoe Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 just let it be awesome (and no more rapping and not so pop-like like the trilogy) BUT really just let it be awesome.
Iva Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Less production on the vocals. That is all. Why do you think they were overproduced?
frunsi Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Why do you think they were overproduced? they sounded really thin and flat on the trilogy albums, compared to live recordings. generally, i feel like the production is the main reason why a lot of people disliked the trilogy. if they had made the guitars more crunchy and in your face and left billies voice a bit more natural, some of the songs i don't like might become favourites. prime example 99 revolutions, the song is supposed to be very energetic, but the tame production really annoys me. back to topic: what i expect from them is an album similar to the trilogy, very varied, with songs that sound like their old stuff and songs that explore new territory/sound like kill the dj stuff. what i want from them is an energetic pop-punk album, kind of like insomniac, with an alt-rock twist and a bit more complex songs, but not quite in the AI way.
WhiteTim Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 The vocals had a filter but still nothing at all on the trilogy was over produced Production wise it's the least produce album since the Lookout albums
JOE THE X-KID Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Why do you think they were overproduced? don't get me wrong I thought the instruments were perfect, the vocals just didn't sound raw enough to me
Ross_19 Posted June 28, 2013 Author Posted June 28, 2013 I'm not 100% sure myself about what style of album I'd like ot see, I'd probably say something of an iUno! style, but more songs on the album, and it would be nice to have some songs where Billie sings in that voice he sings in for I Run NY, really powerful. And of course in terms of when, I'd say as soon as possible, but when I think a new album will come out, I'd say late 2014
Guest Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Isn't this close to the 30th thread on this exact subject since the trilogy has come out? Are mods still a thing? Does the Pope shit in the woods? Are my fingernails supposed to bleed? What was I talking about again?
Jollyroger118 Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Hey all! I'm quite new to GDC (Only been here about a month) and just thought I'd post my first thread. I apologize if this topic has been discussed before. I've been wondering to myself lately about Green Day's next studio album, since Billie Joe had that stint in rehab, where I'm sure he'd have written. And since Green Day had (I think, I heard) 70 or so songs for the trilogy? Could be more/less but it's something around that. I'vejust been thinking when-abouts Green Day's next album will be. And what style it will be, have you guys any thoughts and hopes for this? I'm interested to know what you think and hope about Green Day's next studio album, around when, in your opinion, it will be released and what style it will be. Thanks It really bothers me when people say things like "since Billie Joe had that stint in rehab, where I'm sure he'd have written". I mean was he even in an actual rehab facility or didn't he just do outpatient. If he spent like 6 months away from everything in a rehab center somewhere else I'd understand but I don't think he even left his house. I'm not putting him down or anything, obviously I don't want Billie to ever go away but I really don't think his rehab was what most people make it out to be. Didn't he instagram pictures of him at home during that time? As for a new album I imagine it'll be a while and I imagine that this whole trilogy era and the reprecussions and lessons of it will make for some great songs. Billies always been good at hitting his problems right on the head with his lyrics and I imagine we'll get some good stuff soon enough.

Yeah, he was an outpatient for those several months, but I don't think that would affect how much/little he wrote things. I mean, from what we know, Billie writes all the time to begin with, and even if he was an outpatient, I'm sure he still had a lot of thought and inspiration to put into what he may have written during that time. I do agree on "his rehab might not have been what people make it out to be" though. Rehab obviously isn't a fun experience for anybody, but he seemed to be doing well while he was in it, like what you said with his instragram and whatnot.
Virtue Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 It pisses me off, we just got three god damn new albums can't we be satisfied for at least the length of the tour? For god's sakes we almost lost out frontman during the making of these albums! I don't want to even think about them going back in the studio for a long while. One thing to know about Green Day,Is that we can never get enough of them It's better than being satisfied and not expecting anything else. Green Day has never ceased to amaze me. So in a way,I'm curious too. I agree to an extent, he needs time to relax, but the talk of what kind of songs can possibly show up in the future isn't so bad once you think about it a little harder.
Sanity Loan Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Well.. Billie Joe said the next album wasn't going to be so full of techonolgy, and more straight forward with the instruments Correction: He doesn't want it to be. Doesn't mean it won't be.
BeachBum Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 We have already had several threads on this topic, however seeing as Green Day is still on tour promoting the most recent albums I am going to close this, that and I am pretty sure there is already a open thread for this topic. Isn't this close to the 30th thread on this exact subject since the trilogy has come out? Are mods still a thing? Does the Pope shit in the woods? Are my fingernails supposed to bleed? What was I talking about again? Edit. Apparently you did report. Whoops never saw it.
