Guest Trotsky Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Yeah, I would really like to hear more about 3 things, in no particular order 1. These Paper Bullets at Yale Rep 2. Y U ALWAYS INSIST ON HAVING ERECTIONS ON STAGE? 3. I Run NY Again, in no particular order, these are just the things that generally affect my life. Question number 2...
tubbyfox Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 I like how everyone's still calling it Idiot Club Asking Billie if his cat died wouldn't have been a good question at all Why not? He didn't mind telling everyone about the last one.
The Grohl Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 I would loooooooooove it if he answered my tour question!
Iva Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Whoa. My question got answered. And I don't think it was a shitty one, as we all wanted to know about impromptu Dookie. And that right is left and left is right, yup.
MaraGreenDay Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Whoa. My question got answered. And I don't think it was a shitty one, as we all wanted to know about impromptu Dookie. And that right is left and left is right, yup. Congrats!
Heather. Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Whoa. My question got answered. And I don't think it was a shitty one, as we all wanted to know about impromptu Dookie. And that right is left and left is right, yup. Not one of the bad questions at all It's definitely an interesting discussion. I think it's always better to phrase things more directly though... you can anticipate his answer to "How did it feel to do ______?" before he answers it... of course he's going to say it's cool, we wanted to mix it up. If you asked it like "When you performed Dookie, which song was the most satisfying?" or "Did playing Dookie in its entirety make you feel nostalgic?" or even better... "Why did you play Dookie when you haven't played Uno, Dos, or Tre yet?" (Evil question, slap Billie across the face) Sorry, I'm a teacher, so I'm always thinking about what makes a question successful or not Yours was a good one (I do honestly believe that even the shittiest of topics, such as "influences" or "favorite bands" can still lead to interesting interview moments if they're just phrased fucking well. Like instead of "What bands inspired you?" and he says "The Clash," if someone just asked instead like "What's an example of a Clash song that inspired you to write a melody of your own?" you're on your way to getting at least SOME kind of new information.) So yeah, there's no such thing as a stupid question... just a stupidly phrased one. BUT PLEASE don't ask anything about inspirations, no matter how fancy you phrase it

It's not the best topic to ask. I mean... poor kitty, if Cleveland really died. I would rather hear Billie talk about happy things, you know Yeah, I would really like to hear more about 3 things, in no particular order 1. These Paper Bullets at Yale Rep 2. belinda jane Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 i asked something about how he chooses who he brings onstage for longview. not really sure that there's any one answer, but i've always been curious ooooh that's a good question! especially for those who have been picked to sing longview
Heather. Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 ooooh that's a good question! especially for those who have been picked to sing longview Sure, it's all fun and games until he reveals "I pick whoever looks like they would masturbate a lot!"
belinda jane Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Sure, it's all fun and games until he reveals "I pick whoever looks like they would masturbate a lot!" hahahaha that actually made me laugh out loud heaps
Isabel Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 It amazes me that there are people who throw down $20 on the Idiot Club and don't already know everything obvious about the band. Maybe they got it as a gift with the box set... I think a lot of peope signed up just to get presale tickets for shows. i asked something about how he chooses who he brings onstage for longview. not really sure that there's any one answer, but i've always been curious The fecker didn't even pick me, it was all thanks to Mike

Firecracker Lell Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Dear IN, Y U NO POST THE 2ND EPISODE ALREADY?!?! You do know how impatient we are.
tubbyfox Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Congrats I don't know. It's not the best topic to ask. I mean... poor kitty, if Cleveland really died. I would rather hear Billie talk about happy things, you know #2  Yeah, I know, I wouldn't really have asked it. But, it's interesting because in an interview once someone asked him if he preferred cats or dogs and he said cats, and yet he has three dogs. (?)
Iva Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Florence, don't cry about Vienna. I have a theory. My theory - which might prove itself horribly wrong - is that the second performance of Dookie was just meant to iron out the errors from the first performance (messed up lyrics of Pulling Teeth, for example); for some sort of a release. There totally needs to be a speculation thread about it. And that's where Heather is right. One needs to be 100% clear with what they're saying. I guess I carry some sort of a trauma from another place, that made me ask such a strangely-worded question, plus I think Jeff Matika changed the wording even further. Regarding the influence questions, if a person KNOWS what they're talking about, specifically, e.g. if they think production, a certain riff or something sounds the same as something else; then it's valid. Otherwise..heck, this is XXI century, GOOGLE IT. Right on!
Karl Karlson Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Somebody ask about the next album. What the heck? They're gonna tour the shit outta the trilogy before thinking about a new album. But I will ask that too...in late 2014
Hermione Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Okay, Jason Freese was annoying. I think that was his aim

Slave To The Network Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Yeah, I know, I wouldn't really have asked it. But, it's interesting because in an interview once someone asked him if he preferred cats or dogs and he said cats, and yet he has three dogs. (?) I remember that! And being a cat person myself, I was like "Fuck yeah! Yay, Billie!" I'm so glad that there are going to be more videos with him on The Jeff Matika Show! I was worried that was all we were getting and was disappointed because it wasn't very much and a lot of the questions were pretty dumb. But he will be back! Yay! Okay, Jason Freese was annoying. I agree with this! Really, the interview would have been much more enjoyable without him making all those noises on the keyboard. That was just pretty stupid and lame. I don't know why that was needed at all.
Iva Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 I Billie sai they did it as a left turn, I don't think they did it planning for any release anymore after hearing him say tht When I use the word "theory", there's a lot of wishful thinking involved, mind that.
Jean Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 Another good question would have been... "Ya know you say ya know a lot?" lol
