Guest Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 I'm honestly struggling to think of an adult thing I do, never mind a childish thing.
amdr182 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 The tone of this topic is a little disturbing (unless most people are being sarcastic...probably are but I am too tired to notice!). The video for X-Kid that most people hated so much had a cassette playing...if you never owned one you aren't an X-Kid...probably a simple definition (buying one off Ebay doesn't count I mean actually buying a new release on cassette because that is there is no such thing as a cd...and forget about mp3s there are no computers...at least not in non commercial properties). By the way, is that video the official music video for X-Kid or is it just a promotional video? I never understood what it was ...
JOE THE X-KID Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Well my name implies that but im only 16 so I can't be, I just love the song
IcyMoffatt Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 I'm not sure what a X-Kid is since everyone seems to have a different definition of it. If you're talking about the X generation, I'm a part of it. If you're talking about adult acting like a child, I'm totally a X-Kid. If you're talking about people who are kitsch (the love of something that used to be popular atleast 20 years ago, but is now a part of popular culture)(for example: old tv shows for kids), I'm a X-Kid too. And, if you're refering to the X-Kid video and what St_Trillie said about owning cassette, I have around 30 cassettes, all of them bought new. So, I'm a X-Kid no matter the definition.
Guest Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Same here. And for obvious reasons that's a big problem for me Sometimes I wonder what I'd be like if I had a kid. And then I remember you and shrug and say "yep, that just about covers it"
Guest Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 I don't know whether to laugh or be horrified Horrified laughter sounds appropriate
Hero_Of_The_Hour Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 By the way, is that video the official music video for X-Kid or is it just a promotional video? I never understood what it was ... I am generally confused by much of what has gone on surrounding the singles/videos etc of the trilogy to be honest. I really am not sure what were officially singles or weren't and so on so as far as videos go the confusion mutliplies! In this case I've heard people say the song was played on the radio in some countries (not here ) so I'm guessing that makes it a single so since they never made an alternative video or stated that the cassette video was a promo video then it must be official. Honestly though I haven't really got a clue...but I like it so I hope so...not that it matters cos it will never be on tv here
R_Z-Log Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 I still go to Green Day shows and cry like a lil bitch through the whole thing. My boss thinks it's way immature when I ask for a week off to go obsess over them. Ha! So glad it's not just me... Well, the crying through their shows thing anyway lol.

X-Kid became a single in February 2013 and the video for X-Kid appeared on Green Day's youtube channel in December 2012. Judging by that, it must be a promo video.

It had a video too and Stay The Night? It was included with the boxset videos for ¡Uno! and all the other videos included were singles thus suggesting it is. Also Nuclear Family had a video and was even played on UK & Irish tv several times and used in adverts here in Ireland. I'm fairly sure the whole trilogy singles thing was botched a bit...different countries seem to have gotten/were supposed to have gotten different singles. We didnt get X-Kid far as I know for instance. And since they didn't make another X-Kid video then that video must be THE video? All this shit about promo videos means people really don't believe their eyes when they see a video! I mean it's June...they don't look like they are making another! Who cares where it was posted first? Stray Heart video was online for months before I saw it on tv...and I only ever saw it once!
amdr182 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Well what about Troublemaker? It had a video too and Stay The Night? It not only had a video but it was played on tv over here if I recall correctly (Ireland/UK)...it was certainly included with the boxset videos for ¡Uno! Yes, I know about Troublemaker, Stay The Night, Nuclear Family and The Forgotten videos, but I thought those videos were promotional. You know what? This is confusing as fuck. We love Green Day and not knowing if a certain song is a single or not doesn't make us "bad fans" or whatever, so let's just enjoy the music and don't care about the damn videos or singles.
PanicAttack! Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 I don't think Billie had teenagers watching movies for kids in mind. By his definition I actually think an "x-kid" is more like an adult trapped in his teenage years, than a teenager trapped in his infant years. Most of us doesn't even qualify to be an x-kid cause we are still "kids" by this definition.
The Grohl Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 I'm an X-Kid because I refuse to call myself an adult. I can keep my responsibilities but I want to be youthful also.
That Dude Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 The first music I owned was on cassette, so I meet that qualification. Currently, I'm 27, and feel as though I might just be less mature than I was a few years ago. I got married when I was 23, and we are now working on the divorce. I also kind of went along with the notions present in the trilogy to 'let myself go' at first. because my wife wouldn't allow me to drink at all, so I kind of "got lost and out of control" while "searching my soul". Billie going to rehab scared the crap out of me, and recently I've not even been able to drink more than one or two beers, even if I want more. So yes. I definitely consider myself an X-Kid. That song just brings tears to my eyes and I play the "died of a broken heart" section on endless repeat.
Caractériel Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 I think I fall into the category of an X-Kid, if you mean someone who doesn't want to let go of their youth. I still behave like a teenager at times. Most of my friends are having kids, climbing the career ladder and settling down. I'm still drinking too much, taking things I shouldn't be taking and being reckless whenever the mood takes me. Growing up doesn't appeal to me at all right now. I can relate to this song for many, many reasons.
