green day is Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 The only thing that ever bothered me about Brandon Flowers' initial comment was his little "Oh no someone said something bad about America don't they know we're the BEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD?!?!" attitude. Don't like The Killers, but that's as far as that comment ever went with me. I'm okay with people not liking a band I like.

It's nice for him to make this comment, but personally, I couldn't care less about how he had problems with American Idiot. Most of the world had problems with it at that point, didn't they? It's just his opinion, and nothing too outrageous for him to feel like he had to take back or apologise for. But adding to this: Jesus Christ the ignorance in the beginning of this thread. Hmm shall we compare some of the Killers' best lyrics with Green Day's worst? No, because that would not be a legitimate comparison. It's like… why would you even stoop to that level to try to make a band look bad. I honestly can't tell if the people who do this sort of thing are genuinely unaware of how to properly argue a point or if they're just being sarcastic. You have a point when you say we shouldn't compare their lyrics. We shouldn't compare bands. I don't like The Killers, but I don't say Green Day is better than them or whatever just because each band as its own sound, despite being the same genre. Bands are good on their own, they don't need comparisons to be better or worse.

It's an all-encompassing term that allows people to describe music without actually telling you anything about it.

They obviously have more songs than Human and Somebody Told Me, just like Green Day has more songs than BOBD and American Idiot. I think Brandon grew up in the past couple of years so by being immature about this is kind of ironic, idk.

If the people in Europe can't see how the album and the song can relate to them, that's their own fucking fault, not Billie's. He's there giving people what will be the best night of their lives and it's up to them how they choose to enjoy Green Day, not up to Green Day.
