stories and songs Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I like some of their music. I always kinda stayed away from them because I was irked by what Brandon said about Green Day, but that was a long time ago now. It's nice that they grew up and let it go.
dangreenday Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Never been a fan of Killers , I hear from ppl that flowers is a bit of a dick anyways .. when i read the nme thing ages back it made we wanna smash his face in - but eh watever lol
Billie Hoe Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I don't think that he knows what Billie Joe meant with "American Idiot". He explained it multiple times. It would be a bit ironic if "American Idiot" was completely anti-American but three songs later he says "This song is not anti-American". If he was anti-American he wouldn't live in America, but somewhere else.
spark in the night Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I didn't know he was offended by American Idiot. I did know he thought it was HIS idea to wear guyliner and that Billie copied him. Lol
Tubbie Head Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I didn't know he was offended by American Idiot. I did know he thought it was HIS idea to wear guyliner and that Billie copied him. Lol Hahahah yeah, I had forgotten that!
Iain Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Now now, boys and girls, let's not turn this into a bashing thread of The Killers. It's obvious Flowers misunderstood the American Idiot's context judging the title and first few lyrics, but this has cleared up, and that's all that needs to be seen. Not that I understand a lot of lyrics, but if you read into ones that sound strange they can provide context. It's just not obvious, or it sounds silly.
Billie Hoe Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I didn't know he was offended by American Idiot. I did know he thought it was HIS idea to wear guyliner and that Billie copied him. Lol Seriously? Hahaha, this is ridiculous Now now, boys and girls, let's not turn this into a bashing thread of The Killers. It's obvious Flowers misunderstood the American Idiot's context judging the title and first few lyrics, but this has cleared up, and that's all that needs to be seen. Well, and he said "Green Day, I said some shit but that was the old me"... so I guess that's his way of apologising
James! Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Just for the record I like the killers regardless weather they like Green Day the same as I like the Sex Pistols even tho Lydon hates them , the song is actually quite good therefore I hope it gets released thanks for posting
I-Like-Pop-Tarts Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Are people actually listening to the song before they comment?! It's not a jab at GD nor a way of using other bands names to sell records.. It was a song about Wembley Stadium, sung to commemorate them playing there for the first time. The song references all the artists that have played there before them, a pinnacle venue for the UK with lots of history, hence GD were mentioned. I guess they just wanted to let ppl know they are cool with them now and bitchin about other bands is in the past. And they hey-oh bits are mimicking Freddie Mercury whose shown on the screen in the background..
LisaBJA Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 It's great that Brandon apologized for what he did and that he stood for it It was dumb from him saying such things about AI, he understood the song wrong (but I think Billie doesn't care, that Brandon apolozized for all these things )
Guest Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Personal favourite Killers lyric. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2H6nLlujtFQ
DTH Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 hes still an idiot, and the killers still suck. i dont care what they think of green day, though.
JardyOfSuburbia Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Nice to see that Brandon has come around on Green Day being cool dudes. I love both of these bands.
The Grohl Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Don't care about the Killers. They're too arrogant for my tastes.
JIGD13 Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 That's was funny. But, I still think they don't like American Idiot
LisaBJA Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I didn't know he was offended by American Idiot. I did know he thought it was HIS idea to wear guyliner and that Billie copied him. Lol Really?? How do you know this? Never heard this before
Heather. Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I know this horse has been dead a long time, but to be fair I think Brandon Flowers was 100% correct in saying that when Billie sang "mindfuck America" around the world in 2004, most of the crowd was singing along just to have the satisfaction of shouting "Fuck America!" Obviously that wasn't Billie's true meaning behind the song, but he definitely allowed that to happen. Of course, nothing wrong with that... but everytime I watch BIAB, when the crowd says mindfuck America, I always wonder how many of them are really just focusing on the fuck America part.

They were always just a good festival/radio friendly rock band with some catchy tunes. Nice of him to own up to his faults so publicly like that. As well as the GD line there's quite a few personal references in that song. I also like that Green Day got quite a lot more time on screen than other huge artists like The Boss and U2.

I know I'm biased as a major Killers fan but Jesus Christ y'all need to learn context And thanks to the person that made this a thread. I didn't know if it was worthy of being a thread so I just put it in Random News to be sure.
spark in the night Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Really?? How do you know this? Never heard this before I read it in an article a long time ago during the American Idiot era. I can't remember where exactly. Might have been Rolling Stone
