Kayfabe Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Well, you could also say that without some of the bands on that list, Green Day wouldn't be here. Yeah, definitely, hence why they're on the list. But to say that Green Day did not change rock history is just wrong. IMO, at least.
Blond-O-Sonic Shimmer Trap Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Yeah, definitely, hence why they're on the list. But to say that Green Day did not change rock history is just wrong. IMO, at least. They're "a part of" rock history by way of two very successful and undoubtedly important albums, but their sound is based on appropriating a sound that came before them and making it poppier, which I don't think merits that kind of praise. Maybe the bands that they are heavily influenced by deserve that kind of accolade.

I guess trying to measure these things is quite difficult
The Forgotten Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Am I the only one wondering who the hell is motorhead?
The Governator Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 But what about the bands that influenced the bands that they're influenced by? I guess trying to measure these things is quite difficult haha. This list is all based on opinions anyways, it really doesn't matter. Am I the only one wondering who the hell is motorhead? Yes. That is one of the saddest things I've ever read. I'm getting emotional just reading that.
Guest Trotsky Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Muse over The Jimi Hendrix Experience,The Police and Cream and not Green Day in that list? One word:BULLSHIT.
musso_kn Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 If it was a list of classic rock bands only, I wouldn't care that Green Day weren't on it. As it happens, Muse, a horribly overrated group, has made it to number five and I believe that Green Day surpasses them in every way. I don't see a future for Muse, although I was once a big fan. Nowadays, I find their music soulless and not something that will really stand the test of time. Green Day, on the other hand...
WhiteTim Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 /> Muse over The Jimi Hendrix Experience,The Police and Cream and not Green Day in that list? One word:BULLSHIT. Cream and Police are better musicians than GD...
Guest Trotsky Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Cream and Police are better musicians than GD... I agree...They are far better musicians than Muse too.
WhiteTim Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 /> I agree...They are far better musicians than Muse too. I agree dunno how they made it on it
Annie, get your gun Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Is Muse older than Green Day? Well, I'm disappointed, but these lists and rankings or whatever always depend on the people who "stablish" them. For us, the fans, they should be in there. I don't care if they're a quartet now They've been a trio for the most part.

Guest Trotsky Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 I agree dunno how they made it on it Also, where is Hüsker Dü?
The Forgotten Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 I'm going to see ZZ Top in November, it'll be a fucking great time I'm sure
Sir Psycho Sexy Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Am I the only one wondering who the hell is motorhead? Ace of Spades? The Game (if you like WWE :lol)
Four. Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 at least no one is arguing about the fact that rush is first on the list. very well deserved. idk about green day, UG doesn't like them anyway.
Kayfabe Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Ace of Spades? The Game (if you like WWE :lol) is that really one of their top songs
Sir Psycho Sexy Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 is that really one of their top songs It's not, but I think people may know it cause it's on tv
The Forgotten Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Ace of Spades? The Game (if you like WWE :lol) Lol I don't watch WWE, but thanks
Neutral Milk Hotel Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I seem to be the only one here who loves Muse But Rush are definitely worthy of the top spot, so it doesn't matter if Green Day's on there or not. Because all I ever see critics do is hate Rush, and I'm glad some people still appreciate their greatness.
Iain Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Am I the only one wondering who the hell is motorhead? I'm all for people being genuinely ignorant about a lot of things, but if you listen to rock and know jack shit about Motörhead then it's safe to say that all hope may be lost. If it was a list of classic rock bands only, I wouldn't care that Green Day weren't on it. I'm going to be a massive bastard here and say that Muse are shapeshifting reptiles. If anyone knows what I'm on about, they'll get why I said that.
! Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Are you kidding me? As much as I love GD, they don't deserve to be on this list. It's debatable that the one's that are on this list doesn't either, but GD definitely would not make top 10. Top 50 maybe. Top 10, no.
SEAtacticsFTW Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 And who cares about UG? Most of their fanbase is just a bunch of metalheads who can't decide if Dave Mustaine wrote Hit The Lights or not.
