I don't get how the neck would give you any info on the model. I think you mean the headstock.

I saw the rig rundown, but I didn't pay too much attention to the headstock. Thanks though.

Yeah the headstock

I just consider the headstock as part of the neck

as i said before: he does give this one away, but the people who get it recieve a different guitar backstage.

(i know four people so far and they all got this one instead the one billie handed them out on stage, the telecaster.)

this is a picture of my friend Christopher. i don't even know if he's on here, but he posted it on fb and everywhere so I hope it's okay if i put it on here.

He got on stage to play the guitar at Rock im Park last saturday, got the telecaster on stage but the guitartech handed him this guitar out instead and kept the fender telecaster

That is so sad in a way, to give one guitar away and then change it up backstage, kind of dissapointed in them now. But on the other hand I'd definitely prefer this other guitar over it, but I don't understand the whole telecaster deal then... Why couldn't he just bring the signed guitar on stage? That would give it both the value of him having played it, and the value of their autographs.

Cause they do the guitar thing during the old songs which wouldnt sound the same on a LP

Plus again money teles even the squier form are almost 300 and up while Epi LP are 120 bucks or less

Sorry to drag this thread up again. Now the scratchplate/pickguard. I've looked on WD but can't find anything like. Am I right in guessing the guy who can't stop chewing gum buys the uncut stuff and cuts it to size himself?

Posted

Yeah Hans just cuts the pick guards from 3 ply (I'd guess) plastic himself and fits them :)

I love this Guitar

He used to have a identical guitar around '99-'00. Only difference: it was white with black pickguard.

Yes, it was played on New Year's Eve in 1999.

Nope. He used the black telecaster (Scaterred) and red stratocaster (Good Riddance)

It was ocassionally used on Warped tour and at Bottom of the Hill in 1999

Although, this Strat could be that "Frankenstein".

they don't actually give this one away. people recieve this one on stage, but get handed out another guitar afterwards. an all black epiphone les paul junior with signatures from the band. :)

I know of someone who got given this guitar? Iv seen pictures of them with it at their house.

yeah i found out about that later too!

They started giving the epiphones this year

I thought they were giving the Epiphones out as far back as 2005? I know they did when I saw them in Manchester in January of that year, anyway. I know they did a lot of sunburst Squier Strats around that time too, but when I saw them it was definitely a black Epi Les Paul Junior. I remember being pissed it wasn't me that got it so I went out and bought one

Basically it's a Blacked out Fender Telecaster, with a white Scratch plate , A VERY simple guitar with only one knob i.e the volume knob and is also fitted with the SEYMOUR DUNCAN JB Humbucker pickup placed at a slanting angle.just an alternate for LEGENDARY BLUE Sounds similar to blue but very different from a normal Telecaster

I thought I'd add to this, as I'm currently making two of these (hopefully will be finished by the end of the week). Although mine has a few differences, including two knobs instead of one and a soapbar P-90 instead of the SD JB. The guitar is probably not a Black out tele (look at the bridge, control knob type and placement etc), it's more than likely a Squire Telecaster Custom with the neck swapped out for a Fender one that fits Billie's profile. I'm saying this because not only is it the cheapest way of doing it, it's also the only model that has a cavity large enough to hold the pickup at that angle, without more space needing to be routed. The pickguard is almost certainly cut from a blank sheet with a template, which is the way I'm doing mine. Can't get a view close enough to see if it's 3ply or not but that's pretty irrelevant anyway. Any questions please feel free to ask, I hope this helped!

Forgot to say, here's my two projects:

Hey guys new here, been working on this project since oct, here is what I have done so far:

- I have a MIM telecaster and that's the most economic route i'm taking, a pine body from a Squier is just too cheap for me, I want a guitar for the long haul, so I first thought of repainting my midnight wine tele body but I can't believe a professional job on that it's so expensive, around $200 dlls, so I purchased a brand new MIM black body, it cost $170 shipping included.

- Pickguard contacted the WD custom department and requested a BJA design, sended them a picture of BJ with the guitar so they knew exactly what I was talking about, they said no problem, the only change I made was with no knob holes since I plan to set it up as a regular tele with tone knob also. Paid $60.56 total with a set of screws included.

- Neck I went for a 22 fret MIM, the WD pickguard was sent with a rounded cut where the neck goes, the 22 fret one covers that, and also since with the 21 fret I have to rearrange the tabs in some songs that need the 22nd fret. Brand new neck $200.

- Purchased 2 Fender 500k pots, and went to an electronics store and bought a 47pf ceramic capacitor.

- Humbucker purchased a Seymour Duncan SH-4 JB for $79.

- Fender Schaller Chrome Tele Strap Locks on ebay for around half the price of regular Schaller locks.

I had to go to a guitar shop to route the humbucker and pot holes since I want them exactly as In Your Coffee Maker shows on his project, since the regular cut in the tele body is too far left on the pickguard.

I'm starting part of the assembly today, the only downside is the bridge, on the Rig Rundown video the bridge touches the pickguard, the actual WD pickguard has a small cut to fit around the top of the bridge but the only hardtail bridges I have found don't go that high or fit that size. The only thing I was thinking was to have the flat top bridge cut down to fit.

Look forward to seeing it!

Ok guys, so I finish with the project... For the bridge I had to go for the 006-2727-000 Fender Squier Tele Custom Vintage Modified Hardtail Guitar Bridge, still leaves a small gap between the pickguard and the bridge so they do not touch, reason is this bridge has the string holes a little bit higher than a standard telecaster bridge, which makes me have to place it a little bit lower to align with the body's string holes, placed it as far up as possible just so that the strings have a free route to go through the body and bridge without colliding with the misaligned upward bridge. It mattered a little since the route on the body for the standard single coil leaves a small round hole between that space, but after painting the inside of the route black and placing the bridge and strings you can't notice it until you look up-close.

Took it to GC to have a Standard Setup plus had to have them file the nut since it's a factory neck and only comes pre-slotted with “pilot” string location grooves and not the final filing.

Practiced Welcome to Paradise on a Marshall Code 50 choosing the Plexi and setting the knobs same as the Dookie on the Rig Rundown video, and it sounds Perfect!!!

I love this! I'm curious to know your final cost of it?

awesome!! where'd you get the pickguard made? I asked Warmoth before if they'd made me one with the angled humbucker but they said they couldn't do it for this model

I'd actually pay good money for this
