RussellJohnson225 Posted June 14, 2013 Author Posted June 14, 2013 If you really want a band that's hardly well known at all, check out Far as Hell. They sound JUST like Green Day. They do Green Day covers on YouTube as well. I actually love Far As Hell! I've been digging them for about half a year now they rock! And thanks everyone for all these bands i will check them all out for sure!
Iop Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 - The Ramones (of course) - The Queers - Weezer (they covered Green Day at least 2 times and mention them in their song "El Scorcho") [PLUS they're great] - Common Rider (Billie Joe played in the band for one EP) [one of the greatest bands of all time, imo]
SmoothedOut Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Check out: The Queers The Muffs Rancid Screeching Weasel Generation-X The Ramones Big Eyes BIG EYES is a really good band and I recommend it to everyone. They take influence from the Muffs and also have a female vocalist. They released their first album not too long ago and just released their second a month ago. I think they are growing VERY rapidly and could be the next Muffs/Green Day. They're doing things the oldschool way and sound very, very awesome. I would liken their position right now in the punk and music scene to the 39/Smooth and Kerplunk! era of Green Day. I found them on YouTube while surfing for more punk bands. And no I'm not a friend of the band or part of them in any way. However I do think everyone on here should check them out because if you like Green Day, you might be part of the 70% that tip towards the love of oldschool punk rock and roll and not the more 'open to other genres'-kind and liking Nickelback, Linkin Park, and Daughtry type - who do NOT sound like Green Day at all. So there you go!
Iop Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 How could we forget about the Muffs? After all, they are the reason why Green Day worked with, or were willing to work with, Rob Cavallo in the first place. Wiki-Article of Green Day: The group was impressed by his work with fellow Californian band The Muffs, and later remarked that Cavallo "was the only person we could really talk to and connect with" Also "Nobody Likes You" (the book): "Armstrong was a fan of Cavallo's work on The Muffs record and was impressed that he did this at a major label." (Spitz 2009: 85) Also, they are a fantastic band - especially their first two albums.
redundant22 Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 All Time Low, Paramore, My Chemical Romance, Sum 41,etc. All Time Low, Paramore, My Chemical Romance, Sum 41,etc. sorry but they are not even close to Green Day.
Ham Pascale Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Pancy Division, they opened for Green Day in late 1994. The Blatz, Billie Joe ocassionally played with them. I'd rather not check them out.
JIGD13 Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 sorry but they are not even close to Green Day. Tell me why?
Insomniac45 Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 I think you might like this band. The singer sounds like if Billie Joe and Tom Delonge had a son. Wait a second, isn't that Pierre Bouvier from Simple Plan singing?
redundant22 Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Tell me why? donno, for me their style is completely different. I can't think of any song sounding familiar. Ok, All Time Low are probably a little like some trilogy stuff.
deletethisaccount Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Wait a second, isn't that Pierre Bouvier from Simple Plan singing? Yup. That was his band before Simple Plan.
