Kayfabe Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 My kneejerk response was Are We The Waiting/St Jimmy, but looking at some on the list really tore me. Jinx/Haushinka and LOTAG/Murder City are up there
musso_kn Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 I'm torn between Brain Stew/Jaded and Holiday/BOBD. The former provides a beautiful adrenaline rush, and the latter is beautiful period.
Anja Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 holiday/bobd by a longshot also i've just now noticed you can click view on the poll and it tells you who voted for what, has it always been like that? haha This must be new! I've never seen it either.
The Grouch is Tracy Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Jaded is one of my all-time favourite songs anyway!
Asa. Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Jinx/Haushinka all the way! I love how the riff builds up to the huge chord at the beginning of Haushinka!
Lauren Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Haushinka feels like a second part to Jinx. That's why I picked it. Brain Stew and Jaded do, too, but I just like the songs better for Jinx and Haushinka. Holiday and Boulevard of Broken Dreams don't really flow well for me. It feels like the ending of one song and the beginning of another (as do most of the other options in the poll) that they just happened not to put silence between.
The Governator Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 My Favorite is Give me Novacane/She's a Rebel.
Karl Karlson Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 My Favorite is Give me Novacane/She's a Rebel. yeah, where's that in the poll?^^
Slave To The Network Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Definitely Holiday/BOBD! They just make a perfect pair in so many ways. I love the transition and I love the contrast between the two. They complement each other so well!
HolyHandGrenade Posted May 27, 2013 Author Posted May 27, 2013 My Favorite is Give me Novacane/She's a Rebel. yeah, where's that in the poll?^^ I explained earlier that although there is 1) No break/pause in the music 2) Similar drum beats on both sides of the transition The beat from Nova does not carry over to Rebel - they are unique beats that only reside on their respective songs. For example, Holiday has it's ending guitar note carry over, Uptight has the wave carry over, and some of the others actually "start" at the previous songs end, with a few seconds left. Most of American Idiot had plot and thematic continuity, but I chose not to water down the poll with that.

St.JimmyxChristiansInferno Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Nova/Rebel - despite the fact that they both line up with drum beats, none of the notes actually cross over. They're unique. EG/Letterbomb - I don't understand that one. EG fades out with a guitar, and Letterbomb starts with static. See You Tonight/Fuck Time - once again, none of the notes cross over, despite the lack of a pause/fade out at the end Little Girl/RHS - ends with a bang of the piano keys, fades out, starts with unique piano notes and strings. Don't hear it. EG when the guitar fades and Letterbomb comes on you can still hear the guitar fading on a little bit when the static comes on. Little Girl/RHS like I said its hard to hear the last note Tre hits that eco sound effect continues to RHS, I guess that wouldnt count.
dumb shiny bitch Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 YAY POLL Trust you to like polls. You poll dancer I went for Holiday/BOBD. I get mildly disappointed when I'm using shuffle mode on my ipod and BOBD doesn't play after Holiday

If it's that hard to notice, I don't think it should count, even if it might fit the criteria Trust you to like poll's. You poll dancer I went for Holiday/BOBD. WhiteTim Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 If a background of wave counts of last ride in count then drum should count for novacaine and shes a rebel....
Todd Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 All of them. But I like BoBD/Holiday and Uptight/Last Ride In best. Uptight's about being just so bored and sick, and just blowing it all away and then Last Ride In is the state of heavy sleep and relaxation that comes when you need it most
Annie, get your gun Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Ooohh the ones from 21st Century Breakdown are truly amazing; but I choose Holiday/Boulevard Of Broken Dreams. 'cause you can't separate them; the others finish and the next one starts right away, but whenever you hear Boulevard start playing, you can still hear the end of Holiday and that's what I love the most from them ♥ And Give Me Novacaine / She's A Rebel should be on the list, in my opinion.
HolyHandGrenade Posted May 28, 2013 Author Posted May 28, 2013 If a background of wave counts of last ride in count then drum should count for novacaine and shes a rebel.... Like I said, just because the drums have no break doesn't mean that any of it crosses over. They're different beats. All of them. But I like BoBD/Holiday and Uptight/Last Ride In best. Uptight's about being just so bored and sick, and just blowing it all away and then Last Ride In is the state of heavy sleep and relaxation that comes when you need it most Nice description.
green day is Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Like I said, just because the drums have no break doesn't mean that any of it crosses over. They're different beats. Nice description. Rock Band puts Novacaine and She's a Rebel together. I assume it's for a reason.
HolyHandGrenade Posted May 28, 2013 Author Posted May 28, 2013 Rock Band puts Novacaine and She's a Rebel together. I assume it's for a reason. Some special editions of A.I. have those two as one song, as well as EG and Letterbomb, but the latter provides the counter to that - those two don't overlap.

All that that tells me is that EG and Letterbomb deserve a spot too. It's not like Are we the Waiting and St. Jimmy are any different (although those two were originally one song).
