Jax Teller Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 People needs to calm down. I thought it was funny but I see people in here to try to explain what is immature and what not...It's not such a big deal.
blitzkriegdeb Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Hundreds of people (I'm sure a few GDCers too) have made similar comments regarding Justin Beiber, One Direction, or whoever. It's not like he came out and made death threats against him, it was just a silly comment that can literally be taken at face value. He's said way worse things about people anyways.
Schlappy Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 i personally dont think its a big deal, that being said, billie should really watch was he says for a while. The media still has him labeled as a lunatic and are looking for fuel to bring it up again. lets face it, crazy billie makes good tv. He should be extra careful to avoid bad press of any kind.
EmmaCharlatan&Saints Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 6 pages!! my god the news is slow as fuck around here isint it.
Anja Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I can't believe how much this blew up with all these media sources. Herpes and The Lonely Island... Funny week for Green Day news. "The Lonely Island"? What did I miss there?
Cob Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Everyone saying it was immature of Billie to say that: First of all, I don't even think he meant it on a serious note.It was just a joke.He keeps saying shit about many artists in a fun way.So many people do that. Joking and Bitching are two different things.Bitching is when someone seriously means what he says and usually says that out of jealousy.Like those brothers from Oasis.Nobody gives a fuck as to what they think but they keep speaking shit anyways.Another example would be Jonny Rotten. It was very mature of Psy to NOT take it seriously.Even Dave Grohl jokes around about other artists, not being offensive. Why don't you guys call Dave a whining bitch then?He is a legend, so is Billie. Billie is fuckng 41 years old and off drugs. He definately didn't mean anything.Oh god why do people here take things so seriously.Just relax. Dave Grohl never directly calls out other artists or jokes about them "going away" . In fact, in his keynote speech at SXSW he praised Psy for bringing lighthearted fun back to dance-pop music. He calls out the entire industry, and even then he does it respectfully.

Maybe he likes Psy but he has said bad things about others(like Britney Spears and others)....Is it reasonable to compare who said the worst stupidity/joke?Billie or Dave?
spark in the night Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Remember when Billie posted a photo of him with a boom box saying "I heart Radio!" right after his meltdown? Maybe he'll post a picture of him and PSY being the best of friends
K!ngForADay Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Sorry if this has been made already but PSY was a real gentleman about that......I'm sorry..... Seriously though, he handled it pretty cool. Not a fan of his music but he seems like a nice guy. Unnecessary comment from Billie but people are acting like it actually means something..
musso_kn Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 The only person I hate here is the interviewer. I don't like Psy's music and I agree with Billie in a way, but I'm glad this didn't turn into a "celebrity fight" or something. That would be just pointless. I actually agree. Billie was making a thoughtless - but harmless, and kinda funny - comment and Psy responded gracefully. But, GOD, was that woman trying to start some shit up. She seemed quite disappointed that he was 'thankful'. We should be kissing Psy's ass, actually. The last thing Green Day needs right now is negative publicity.
WhiteTim Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I quite like psy as a person, but I think his music sucks!! Psy has the most popular ever youtube video, sold (I think someone above said something about 50 million) copies of his song and became a world wide sensation. I bet he couldn't care less what Billie thinks. I wonder if he even knew who Billie Joe Armstrong was before this? He went to UC Berkley so I'd say most likely
GaxnorianLiberator Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Personally can't stand Psy. Very few Musicians don't give me a head ache. Psy isn't one of them. I can count the ones that don't on two hands. Linkin Park, Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Emily's Army, Dead by Sunrise, Alex Day, Emma Blackery. EDIT: Forgot one. Hatsune Miku.
Hermione Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I did't pay much attentiion to PSY and I don't think Gangnam Style worthy of its popularity. To be honest, I feel a little surprised seeing so many people say that Billie was childish. Can it really be argued that posting a picture of someone and saying they're like herpes isn't childish? But just because it was childish it doesn't mean there was anything wrong with it. There's nothing wrong with making a jokey childish comment from time to time.
scatteredminority Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I think Psy knew it was a bad comment about him, he just changed its meaning as if Billie was calling him "persistent". And yes, it's true Billie acted like a little child.
Akshat Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 It's funny how Billie easily gets away with every controversial statement of his.

Agreed Jacob Cornman, our fearless leader of the Church of Grohl and defending Grohl from nonfactual statements since 2013.
WhiteTim Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Agreed Jacob Cornman, our fearless leader of the Church of Grohl and defending Grohl from nonfactual statements since 2013. Grohl never directly talks about people publicly cause he's too concerned with making sure everybody likes him
RedStrokes Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Grohl never directly talks about people publicly cause he's too concerned with making sure everybody likes him Youre right, he doesnt, that's called being nice. You know: amigo, amiga? Plus, I wasn't really talking about Grohl. I was talking about Jacob
Alan86 Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Psy is the Man. Billie made this one too easy for the media to jump on.
WhiteTim Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Youre right, he doesnt, that's called being nice. You know: amigo, amiga? Plus, I wasn't really talking about Grohl. I was talking about Jacob I forgot this board doesn't multi quote i was really replying to Cobs post i was just too lazy to look for it
musso_kn Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 It's funny how Billie easily gets away with every controversial statement of his. Try googling 'one fucking minute', my friend. People ripped him to shreds for that wonderful performance.
Bronni Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Wow, why the fuck is everyone taking this so seriously? I laughed my ass off at this. ...plus Billie's right, Psy sucks.
darenmay Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Psy is a cool guy! Billie wasn't serious, anyway. That was Billie being bitchy Billie.
HolyHandGrenade Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 "The Lonely Island"? What did I miss there? http://www.greendayauthority.com/news/4055/ http://www.greendaycommunity.org/topic/93556-billie-joe-on-new-lonely-island-album/
