Flyingdonutz Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 "He's almost like the Green Day of this decade" - uh, seriously? I'm the usually the one "defending" Justin Bieber because I'm annoyed by the extremely exaggerated hate he gets, but are you seriously comparing Green Day and Justin Bieber? WTF. Justin Bieber has a very good singing voice and he can dance. That's it. Everything else is done for him - he doesn't write his songs, doesn't produce them... You can't even compare that to how Green Day got famous - through hard work. They wrote all of their songs, playing in small clubs and had their breakthrough 7 years into their career. And JB isn't more talented than the artists featured on the album... at all. Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga and Pharrel are all way more talented because they actually write most of their songs and actually get pretty experimental for pop music if you actually listen to one of their albums. (I'm just gonna stop right here because criticizing Justin Bieber is the most redundant topic in the history of the internet) Justin Bieber is a guitar player, and he's a drummer. I'm comparing the effect of Green Day in the 90's and Justin Bieber today. People followed Green Day in the 90's, Green Day and Nirvana, and today people generally lean towards Bieber. And, he does write his songs. Some of them, anyways. I think Justin Bieber is a complete and total tool, he's got a diva attitude he hasn't earned, and as Metallica's manager said, someone should spank him. I couldn't possibly see how you are getting that I'm saying Justin Bieber worked for his success. His breakthrough hit, Baby, was yes, written by his mother, but people listened to it because it was "catchy" and was extremely relatable to girls. Dookie was an extremely relatable album. A song like She, for example, is still, and ever more relatable to kids today. Green Day have more talent in their asses than Justin Bieber has in his entire body, but there's no denying that he's talented, and there's certainly no denying that people like his music for the same reason people liked Green Day's in the 90's, because it's catchy, toe-tapping, and relatable. While maybe Green Day worked for their success and Bieber just uploaded a video to youtube, there isn't a whole lot of a difference in why people listen to their music. It's just that it's different music.
angel green Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 It's really not a big deal, and I'm actually really excited for it! I just think it's a but weird that they're choosing BJ for their song about NY because he's from Cali.... Also I just hope to God that Billie doesn't use autotune
HaushinkaSins Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 stop getting so butthurt over this. its just a song. hes having fun. i suggest we have fun with this too. like, do we always have to go through this every time green day and/or just billie decides to do something new? come on. im beyond stoked to hear this. legit.
Heather. Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I kinda doubt the song would be a reference to Billie on Broadway... it's not mainstream enough that random people would care about it. The YOLO song really had nothing to do with Adam Levine, it was just funny, and so maybe I Run NY isn't about Billie, he's just singing on it because it's funny. Do we know for sure that every collab artist gets a video? I fear we won't get one for Billie

And there isn't a need to make them for SNL anymore, so that's a bummer

I fear we won't get one for Billie I doubt that we can get a video, I mean when was the song recorded?, when was the Diapers Money video recorded? And TLI already released a song with T-Pain and it doesn't have a video

Do we know for sure that every collab artist gets a video? I fear we won't get one for Billie At this point there's really no way of knowing. Since there's only one "Wack Wednesday" left (and, if Wikipedia is to be believed, the song that will be released that day is Spell It Out), chances are slim (pretty much none, actually) that a video for I Run NY will be released before the album comes out, but that's not to say that we'll never get a video. We really won't know if there will be a video until... well, until there is a video.
Vrock09 Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Are people still having the "green day sold out" conversations? Anyways, Im excited for the album, especially knowing Billies on a track. The Lady Gaga and Justin Timberlake collab should be interesting as well! So stoked!

Heather. Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 It's funny, three weeks ago I hadn't heard of the Lonely Island, and I didn't have a boyfriend. Today, I have a boyfriend who, this morning, bumped into all the members of the Lonely Island at Apple Soho. What a weird world.
James a Green Day Fan Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 So the album comes out on the 7th in New Zealand Australia and stuff like that. So I guarantee that someone will upload a youtube video of the song on that day. Your welcome so now you don't have to wait until June 11th

The Forgotten Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 I'm gonna still put money that it's going to be the Pharell Williams colab next wednesday... and from there we'll have to wait for the actual release of the album
Tubbie Head Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Do you guys think there's also going to be a video for Billie's song?
Jean Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Just had a thought. Billie was in New York a couple of weeks ago... Maybe they filmed something then?
The Forgotten Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Do you guys think there's also going to be a video for Billie's song? maybe a lyrics video.. I wouldn't think there we be an actual video with Billie in it, since he hasn't mentioned anything about it...
Tubbie Head Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 maybe a lyrics video.. I wouldn't think there we be an actual video with Billie in it, since he hasn't mentioned anything about it... Oh I haven't been following this thread, so I don't really know anything about it. It would be cool to get a video though...I would be more excited about it than the song to be honest.

It would be cool to get a video though...I would be more excited about it than the song to be honest. Yeah it's just luck really, they make an album and some of the songs get videos and some don't. I would love one , but just a song will still be pretty good.
Vrock09 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 The song with JT and Lady Gaga has been out for almost 2 years now lol haha! holy shit! I forgot about 3 way! lol
Awesompawsome Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 i was really hoping this would have leaked by now it comes out tuesday right? Yeah
