Alan86 Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Strange how billie comments about Psy being the Herpes of music and then collaborates with these guys. There is very little difference in the target audience for their music. Anyway im looking foward to seeing what the song is like.
AfterShock Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 I'm very intrigued to hear what this will sound like, Billie doesn't really have the kind of voice for this genre so we'll see

There is very little difference in the target audience for their music. Anyway im looking foward to seeing what the song is like. I'd disagree there. Psy is a singer who makes funny songs with a good beat to dance to, whereas The Lonely Island are comedians making funny songs where the ONLY point is comedy. Psy's songs are wacky while The Lonely Islands' make use of more sophisticated comedy. Not hugely sophisticated of course , but they use irony and parody which is a lot different to just being silly and wacky. Not saying there's anything wrong with either, but wacky pop music and full on parody songs done by comedians aren't the same thing at all.
HARVESTER Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 "YOLO" from the Lonely Island album The Wack Album reminds me of Warning.
HARVESTER Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 I'm very intrigued to hear what this will sound like, Billie doesn't really have the kind of voice for this genre so we'll see There are songs that mix genres... perhaps the one he is included in will be one of them. Take this song for example: It is a mixture of rap and whatever genre Adam Levine is.

I'm aware of the differences in style and delivery cause I do like both. All I said is there target audience is the exact same.
Hermione Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 I'm aware of the differences in style and delivery cause I do like both. All I said is there target audience is the exact same. Maybe it's because my 5 year old nephew and mum are Psy fans that I disagree . Anyone young or old who listens to popular music can be a fan of Psy whether it's because he's funny or just because the music's catchy but The Lonely Island has more of a niche audience of not easily offended internet savvy teenagers/young adults who are looking specifically for comedy. But anyway the complaint against Psy (by some people, I'm not bothered by him) is that he's a musical act filling up the airwaves with cheesy novelty music when there could be better music there instead. There's no such complaint against The Lonely Island because they're just doing comedy, they're not affecting the music scene in any way. So I don't think there's anything at all strange about criticizing one but not the other, they're not comparable.
Jesus Of Suburbia 2396 Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 "One fucking minute!" Like A Boss Lol:p
Caractériel Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 I actually can't wait to hear this. I love the Lonely Island. There's nothing more satisfying than playing 'I Just Had Sex' on full blast when some random girl leaves my house mate's bedroom at 9am on a Saturday morning.

cindeeedasilva Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 When I heard of this I got so excited!! The Lonely Island makes some funny tunes. And with Billie's sense of humour - I just can't wait!!!!!!
The Forgotten Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 They keep posting every song off that album BUT the one with Billie....
HolyHandGrenade Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 They keep posting every song off that album BUT the one with Billie.... Save the best for last. They know what's up.There are songs that mix genres... perhaps the one he is included in will be one of them. Take this song for example: It is a mixture of rap and whatever genre Adam Levine is. Adam Levine: Songs for Jane: interesting, up-and-coming alternative genre and star Now: super star, Voice judge , genre - meaningless pop.

Adam Levine: Songs for Jane: interesting, up-and-coming alternative genre and star Now: super star, Voice judge , genre - meaningless pop. I prefer your conclusion, because I was actually thinking/worrying the reason could be "The song with Billie isn't a good enough to be a tease"
Mikal Sotuyo Sivertsen Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Really excited about this! And I can't wait for it to be released. It will be very interesting to see how they do it and what they can do together, and what topic they choose to sing about. I do also hope for something similar to the "Jack Sparrow" video, mainly because I thought it was awesome and that I laughed a lot seeing it! ^^
Jimmy Strummer Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 have they been releasing videos for all the songs so far or what? Yeah, they're putting one out every Wednesday on their YouTube channel. They're calling it "Wack Wednesdays."
The Grohl Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Save the best for last. They know what's up. Adam Levine: Songs for Jane: interesting, up-and-coming alternative genre and star Now: super star, Voice judge , genre - meaningless pop. The comment about Maroon 5 I could not agree with more. I love Songs about Jane. It's great pop music with some alt thrown. But now...it's like the Adam Levine show and it sucks. I hated their last album so much. It didn't even sound like them.
Mar Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 have they been releasing videos for all the songs so far or what? They didn't release a video for the newest song with T-Pain; idk if they're making one and it just isn't ready yet or they don't plan on it being a single.
The Forgotten Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Really? they released a song with Solange before the one with Billie-Joe?! WHO THE FUCK IS SOLANGE?
WhiteTim Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Really? they released a song with Solange before the one with Billie-Joe?! WHO THE FUCK IS SOLANGE? Beyonce's sister
inthehallwaynow Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 I awoke on the floor, the walls felt all curvy I was soaking wet and my stomach topsy-turvy I was covered in blood, holding a knife - I dropped it I looked around, I was in the Oval Office! What had I done? I couldn't remember a thing! But then some memories came back to me I remember finding the President, and stabbing him in the neck Then, cutting him into little pieces and stuffing him in his desk Oh me oh my, I didn't mean to! It must have been that hypnotist and his evil voodoo! Now, some things are bad, like not paying your rent But, I think I might have killed the President!
Batgirl Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 i wonder when the news about the president will be released..
The Forgotten Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 So Beyonce's sister is a singer too? There's only 2 collaborations that we know of that they haven't released yet. The one with Pharell Williams and Billie. Knowing our luck next week we'll get the Pharell song...
