HolyHandGrenade Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Lol, fixed How is it any more "pointless" than anything any of us do to have fun in our spare time though, like say watching TV or posting on GDC? It's nothing to do with Green Day, it's just something to do for a laugh. I don't expect Green Day to be as serious obituary writer. Whether or not their antics work is beside the point, I just want to see my favorite, goofy band go out and have fun once in a while. Maybe it's not comedy gold, but if they enjoyed it, and I enjoyed it, no harm done.
Heather. Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 That's fair enough, each to their own. I'm a sucker for Billie doing cringeworthy things so even if it's really bad I'll enjoy it , I'm easily pleased. Agreed... the more cringeworthy, the better! (Except things like Steve Jobs and iHeart... those are the genuine cringes that hurt. Everything else is just "Oh, Billie... you tried").

There's certainly no shortage of them putting out great albums so anything else they do whether serious or fun or good or bad is just a nice it of bonus entertainment for them and us.
Sarahnade Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 I'm so excited for this! I never thought I'd see something like this happen. Fingers crossed that this song gets a music video.
JIGD13 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Now that I've seen the videos you posted I think they are really funny and I can't wait the new song What I like the most of this is that Billie Joe and The Lonely Island are from Berkley
Schlappy Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 They have 3 funny songs that I like- but that doesn't mean they're good songs, y'know? so true. i hope people here arent expecting a good song... their entire schtick is making stupid songs and then taking them really seriously
Annie, get your gun Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 I don't really know who they are, I think I saw them once on SNL... so I don't know if I should be excited or not
Juicebox Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 the excitement i have for this is a little concerning....
TheGrouch33 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 you got to be kidding! this sounds so stupid I cant believe this is happening, i would rather see Green Day or Billie collaborating in a sappy new Disney shit film than in this.
Strayheart1219 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 I'm shocked but excited! This will probably be sooooooo funny and maybe we will get a music video ;) ;)
nothing_wrong_with_me Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 I don't know what to think about this... I can't decide if I think it's a good or a bad idea. Let's wait and see, I'm really curious.
Blond-O-Sonic Shimmer Trap Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 you got to be kidding! this sounds so stupid I cant believe this is happening, i would rather see Green Day or Billie collaborating in a sappy new Disney shit film than in this. Don't understand your reservations here.
kilawatcongo Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I'm stoked, Love The Lonely Island, Love SNL, love Billie. sounds pretty good to me..I hope its actually well done. They have some pretty funny/clever songs. (clever as in they make me laugh
TheGrouch33 Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Don't understand your reservations here. Bad day hahahahahaha
Jimmy Strummer Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Can I just put something out there that NO ONE has addressed yet? First came "Nightlife," and now this. Do you think Billie Joe's getting more into the hip-hop thing now, like how The Clash did back in the 80s?
warding_off_regrets Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I'm probably more excited about this than I should be.
The Forgotten Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I'm excited as fuck, but I have a feeling i'll be disappointed
alecandstuff Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I've never really liked The Lonely Island too much since most of it isn't up my alley for comedy, and this news just strikes me as odd more than anything else. I'll definitely check it out the track when the album is released though
DookieLukie Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Can I just put something out there that NO ONE has addressed yet? First came "Nightlife," and now this. Do you think Billie Joe's getting more into the hip-hop thing now, like how The Clash did back in the 80s? They could be making a rock song. A lot of their songs have pop/rock choruses with rap verses. Billie probably won't rap.

Do you think Billie Joe's getting more into the hip-hop thing now, like how The Clash did back in the 80s?Hmm, I reckon he's more likely to be doing this just because it's fun/funny rather than because it's rap related (or possibly rap related anyway). He obviously is more into it in recent times as shown by Nightlife but I don't think this indicates he's any more into it. I'll be more than happy if he is though!
Strayheart1219 Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 They could be making a rock song. A lot of their songs have pop/rock choruses with rap verses. Billie probably won't rap. I HOPE HE DOES RAP. I'd laugh for years.
angel green Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 i started squealing uncontrollably and i had to fangirl to one of my best friends (who fortunately loves them too!)
Jimmy Strummer Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 They could be making a rock song. A lot of their songs have pop/rock choruses with rap verses. Billie probably won't rap. Yeah, I mean, it's just as likely that he'll do a rock song as it is that he'll do a rap song, but I'm not counting it out. He's done crazier things that have caught us more than off-guard. Hmm, I reckon he's more likely to be doing this just because it's fun/funny rather than because it's rap related (or possibly rap related anyway). He obviously is more into it in recent times as shown by Nightlife but I don't think this indicates he's any more into it. I'll be more than happy if he is though! But the fact of the matter is, while they are a comedy group, The Lonely Island is primarily a rap group, so there's gotta be some of that incorporated into whatever they worked with Billie Joe on. And seeing as how Green Day delved into it a bit with "Nightlife," it wouldn't be unexpected if it was rap-oriented.
