Kitty Purry Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 billie joe should collaborate with an actual rapper (not counting lady cobra she can't rap) like kanye west or something OMG I would die of happiness. also loling @ people who say they don't like rap music but they love this. BITCH REALLY????

Billie, should only colaborate with the kind of artist that don't are that big like what they did with Lady Cobra and The Lonely Island to do songs that aren't rock songs

BITCH REALLY???? Yeah but this is a joke song. It's reasonable that people would enjoy a joke song just because it's funny, regardless of whether they like it's genre or not. But I agree with your first point! I'd love it. And now they've dipped their toes in the water with Nightlife it seems more possible than ever
Kitty Purry Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Billie, should only colaborate with the kind of artist that don't are that big like what they did with Lady Cobra and The Lonely Island to do songs that aren't rock songs I was just saying kanye because he's very socially conscious and I just thought billie would like him. They could write an amazing song together. And I don't think he would know any non-mainstream rap artists lol but it's not ever gonna happen Yeah but this is a joke song. Like when white people say they don't like rap music but they like eminem

And I don't think he would know any non-mainstream rap artists lol but it's not ever gonna happen I think it could, rap and rock artists collaborating is quite a popular thing these days. We know Green Day aren't opposed to rap and I think there's loads of rappers who'd be up for it, especially someone as open minded as Kanye. He had Adam Levine on a track years before rock and rap artists doing stuff together became more common. Lil Wayne's a Green Day fan too, I think he's said he'd like to work with them. With the fact that this song and Nightlife exist and the current musical climate I don't think it's too far fetched to think there's a chance.

The amount of people calling Green Day a sell out would double Plus, I have no respect for those guys, so no thanks
JIGD13 Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 The amount of people calling Green Day a sell out would double Plus, I have no respect for those guys, so no thanks That's what I think too, like Green Day can do rap but only with artist that aren't that known land those songs would be most for fans like Nightlife
Hermione Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 The amount of people calling Green Day a sell out would double Plus, I have no respect for those guys, so no thanks No respect for all rap artists or just them? Lil Wayne I can understand but Kanye is an extremely talented and creative producer as well as rapper, he's a visionary and revolutionary of rap music. Just like in rock there's crappy rap acts and good, intelligent rap acts. I'd hope that if Green Day collaborated with one of the latter kind it would open a few closed minds to another genre of music.

He's a joke nowadays. But how can you not respect kanye? He's a great lyricist, his social commentary is always on point, he always evolving. He's really one of the most talented mainstream artists today if not of all time. I get not liking his music but still... Billie joe should feel blessed if he ever got the chance to work with him. He is YEEZUS afterall No respect for all rap artists or just them? green day is Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 (not counting lady cobra she can't rap) Just because you don't like her doesn't mean she isn't an actual rapper. Stop being stupid.

Stop being stupid. lol in that case kreysawn, brook candy and iggy azalea are also actual rappers and not a bunch of wannabees. And I like some of iggy's music but her flow sucks just like lady cobra's. I should have said talented instead of actual.

The people you think are wannabees are other people's favorites.
itz_brittany87 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 I can see a Kanye/Green Day collabo happen but Kanye has a BIG ego! So big I'm not sure if it fits in the whole entire planet...he even named his album "Yezus' for goodness sakes. If they wanted to go that route there are several rappers who are great Common (who did a song with John Mayer several years ago), Kendrick Lamar, J Cole and so on.

Sarahnade Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 This whole discussion is a bit frustrating. I think there needs to be less focus on genre and more focus on music that's actually good. People shy away from a genre because it's different from what they're used to. That doesn't mean the music is any less important or enjoyable. I'd definitely be open to some kind of collab with Green Day and your rap artist of choice. Undoubtedly they'd face a lot of criticism. There's plenty of that with Fall Out Boy fans now after doing such a collab.

But I digress.

AlissaGoesRAWR Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 TAKE IT BACK I knew what was coming when I posted that. Please don't kill me. But seriously, it's so poppy and repetitive... I love their other stuff, but I just can't do this one...
That Dude Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Did Billie Joe write any of the song? I tried tracking down the credits and couldn't.
WhiteTim Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Did Billie Joe write any of the song? I tried tracking down the credits and couldn't. As I posted earlier Billie is not credited with writing
That Dude Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 As I posted earlier Billie is not credited with writing Darn. Well, it's still an entertaining collaboration. It's a comedy track, but could be interpreted as political. Also kind of sad if you look past the humor. This whole discussion is a bit frustrating. There's plenty of that with Fall Out Boy fans now after doing such a collab. I wish Green Day would do more collaborations, with anyone. Green Day's only officially teamed up with U2 and Lady Cobra. If I could pick artists for them to work with, it would be These: Transpants +44 Shinedown As far as rappers, these: Lil Wayne Tyler the Creator Jay-Z Kanye West The Game Twista While I'm not a huge fan of rap, these artists are sort unique for the genre.

We can agree to disagree. I love it, but I can appreciate the fact that some people don't like the new album. Using the collaborations for an excuse for not liking the album is frustrating though, so thank you for not being that person. Darn. Well, it's still an entertaining collaboration. I criticized the recent Fall Out Boy album 'cause I think it sucked ass, not necessarily because of the rap collabs... But I digress. Oh, it was horrible, you're not the only one. As far as rappers, these: Tyler the Creator Jay-Z Kanye West Action Bronson Danny Brown Kendrick Lamar MF DOOM Lil B While I'm not a huge fan of rap, these artists are sort unique for the genre. Fixed this list for you. All that being said, I hate the general opinion of other genres on this site. Yes, while I agree this particular song is horrible, you're all pretty much "rock n' roll or die" and it's always been annoying. Either that or you're that guy who ignorantly says "the only rapper I listen to is Eminem". But any mention of Lil Wayne, Kanye West, or whatever else, you turn your heads. Open your minds. It'll do you some good.

Billie Hoe Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I didn't really want to listen to it first, because I saw a post on tumblr with that song and underneath the audio was a photoshopped picture of Billie Joe in a cap and a $-necklace and all I could think was "Oh no, not again"... I still think that "Nightlife" (on Dos) was a disaster But then I listened to it and I laughed so hard, I just can't take it seriously... it's funny.... not good though
