Is dumb haha? Twilight, angry brids, oh love video, kill the dj( Im talking about the another version without cursing specially made for radio), they said apple sucks and now they only use apple, Billie's silver guitar, and funny thing that they dont play their new stuff only because it didnt sell well. No money again? Tell me how they matured. I swear you can like anything that Green day does, thats why Green day is not evolving. I never thought I would say that but they're sellouts. Dont you think Billie wears these kinds of clothes to attract teenage girls? Even though I like all their songs, but I have balls to admit that Green day's music is for teenagers

They own iPhones so they only use apple, SWTRLF is overplayed? I agree about the setlist but what the hell, just because they play a song at half of their shows doesn't make it overplayed, and really??? Everyone has iPhones nowadays, and mr die hard fan you obviously didn't read the rolling stone interview or you would know he was messed up like at I heart when he made that rant onstage, and the guitar looks bad ass BTW

I'm outta here, so many naive people that it makes me feel nauseous. and the last question, why would they say fuck the past and look forward, we're not going to play our new songs? They thought the trilogy would be a huge hit, it didnt so all they can is just play all their overplayed hits to their naive fans. Im sorry but most of you guys suck, and dont you see the comments on youtube saying oh Im 13 or 14 pr 12 and Im sorry for what my generation has done, too many teenagers and pre-teenagers, all the badass and smart fans have already left Green day because Green day chose them over money, If Green day will keep worrying about money Im quitting with them, Green day already have lost many fans and gained some little girls and guys who protect just to get spme attention and to look cool

"I'm sorry, but most of you guys suck"

Is that what passes for an argument in your head? You call us naive, then take personal shots at us. That contributes absolutely nothing to a debate. And by the way, if you are a teen or pre-teen, then it's safe to call you a hypocrite.

no, Green day shouldnt please their fans, fans should do that instead. If they dont know any lyrics or something they shouldnt come, or buy the actual album and learn the damn thing. Man you dont have to respect me, its your choice, you can stick to what you like, all I can do is that Green day will make up their minds and do smth. People say Green day were sellouts in 21st century breakdown tour, no they werent, but no they definetely are. Twilight haha kidding me? Why would Green day would let twilight use their song? simple Green day's music is for teenagers and Green day were desperate so they tried to attract other bunch of naive teenagers. I cannot believe the band that I liked became so boring and repetetive, I'll support them till the end of their career, but they need to quit this money stuff.

I don't know where to begin *sigh*

Why did Green Day mostly stick to playing the hits and a set setlist on the 21st Century Breakdown Tour? Why did they mostly stick to playing the hits and a set setlist on the American Idiot Tour? Why did they mostly stick to playing the hits and a set setlist on the Pop Disaster Tour? Etc etc etc. Because that's what Green Day do! That's what they've always done, added only a few new songs and stuck to playing the classics and doing all the little traditions they've developed over the years with them to ensure a well put together show with a mix of old an new and plenty of songs to get the whole crowd going and singing along.

Seriously, they've never been a band who drastically changed their setlists between tours or shows. Why are people suddenly acting like this is a new thing and moaning on and on about it? Why was anyone expecting them to change the way they've approached playing shows for the last 20 years? Why is anyone surprised that they're carrying on doing something the same way they've always done it? I don't get it.

AND it's not everyband that does 30 songs everynight.....

I hate those who do that true fan crap...

"He/she aint a true fan" im sorry but how precisely can you rate someone fandom?

What I'm most conscious of in all of this is the bravery of it, from Billie Joe and the band as a whole. For him to have come out of a rehab situation and straight into one where he's not just performing as a band-member, but as a frontman who has to connect with the audience and make the show happen, is such a huge deal, and pretty fucking scarey. There was every chance that he could've gotten stage-fright first time out, or any time since, and I feel like alongside of the joy he has in being back where he belongs, there's also the effort of just maintaining himself in that place. He's fighting his corner in front of thousands of people, and he can't just get by, he has to bring it.

I think it's remarkable to see this band in action again, pounding out a high-energy set of songs that are every one of them gems, engaging their audiences, giving everything they have to give from such a raw and real place.

I couldn't agree more!

As someone else pointed out as well, they are still together, doing what they do best. I think some of us are a bit too harsh on the band. Could they or should they change up their setlist and or routines? Maybe, maybe not. Right now I think the best "continuing therapy" for Billie Joe, is to enjoy every moment, and for us as fans to give him the support he needs. They are alive, together and rocking as hard as ever. They will never please all and shouldn't even try to. If they cut out "Basketcase" and play "One of My Lies" instead, will that make everyone happy? No, because someone else will wish they changed this song for that song and the cycle will continue. It's the same with their routines; someone will always want them to stay a part of the show and someone will want them to be cut completely. I think that they put together the best live show of any band ever. It's all about passion. They throw their hearts into every ounce of each show and bring something for everyone. It will never be anything other than spectacular to those of us who feel every song tug at our own heartstrings.

They're not ok with cuse words? if they're not damn just dont listen to it, Green day knew the radio stations wouldnt allow them play their songs, thats why they changed it. Teenage girls listen to one direction, bieber and some of their fans listen to Green day. They like angry birds? man they said ipad sucks. You're blinded

And yet they all have iPhones.

Angry Birds isn't an iPad only game.

This is beautiful - it made me tear up! I feel the same way. What they are doing right now is nothing short of amazing and very, very brave. I have such an overwhelming pride in being a Green Day fan, more now than ever.

This is why I was scared to book to see them at Leeds Festival. It will be a short greatest hits set, with little-to-no trilogy material, and to me that's a shame. But fuck it. They're still my favourite band and if they decided that from now on they were just gonna play Dookie, AI and 21CB, I'd still attend every damn show I possibly could. And if the lack of trilogy is down to BJA not being able to connect with it after his change in personal situation? Well then, I don't want to hear it.

The man has been through a lot, and there are songs that he won't want to play again, if only because of the links to his past (Lazy Bones springs to mind as he says it makes him tear-up in the RS interview), and if the band doesn't feel the connection to the songs, the audience stand no chance.

I'm sure on 21cb tour at festivals they still played there usual setlist

blah blah blah. stop complaining about people's ages. WHO CARES if their 12 or 13? At least they're listening to Green Day instead of One Direction. They already have musical taste justified in them. I hate when people like you just troll and all your argument is about is age and being a teenager. Once upon a time you were a teenager and im sure as hell you got into your favorite band during that moment in your life too. if your problem is their style, then you are the naïve one. listen to green day for their music, not for what they wear. and to answer your question about 'fuck the past and look forward'... hes 99% talking about his personal issues. get a grip.

I don't understand why age plays a role when it comes to a persons opinions? Especially over something as dumb as a bands setlist. Jesus fucking christ, if you think being a pre-teen or younger teen is such a massive issue, why the fuck are you a fan of one of the worlds biggest bands who, surprise surprise, will attract a younger audience? I would have thought you'd be pleased they can still bring in a crowd & attract new fans. Their popularity is growing because of these fans, they're still able to do what they do because of these fans. If only their early 90's fans still listened to them. they would have faded out long ago.

I got into them around the AI release, when, guess what, I was 14. I'm 21 now, still a fucking huge fan of this band & spend a lot of time & money on them. Does that make me less of a fan, because of my age even though I invest in them so much? Even though they've saved my fucking life?

Fuck you & pull your head out your ass & realise not every argument revolves around age.

I really don't like GD setlist,, of course it has 90% of awesome songs.. but in internet times they should concearn a little.. because every show you can find in full on youtube...

It's boring to go to a concert and see the same programmed set... the same programmed lines that Billie says in every song.. and the same shitty covers and KFAD/Shout thing...

True fans that follow each step of the band are fed up of all of it... they (I) want to see something new... or at least something the sounds less mechanic! For a band that is always trying their best and trying to challenge themselves, they are in a poinf of no danger at all.

although, the more I complain about the setlist the more I remenber of Ac/Dc's setlist of their las tour.. that was the same 20 songs on each show...

Also, having re read some of your comments I would just like to say, I refuse to believe anyone over the age of sixteen would seriously label legitimate fans as being 'badass'. Unless your IQ somehow is the same figure as your age.

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/09/arts/music/green-day-at-barclays-center.html?smid=tw-nytimesarts&seid=auto&_r=0

I get that the audience wants a show of Green Day greatest hits. I was only at the Fairfax, Virginia show. They played X-Kid to a generally unethusiastic audience, then followed that up with Minority, in which the audience EXPLODED when hearing the first few bars. I couldnt help but be a tad bit disappointed, yet understanding, that it was going to be all about the "greatest hits."

So, thought Id start a thread to talk about the tour, in general, and what us GDCers are thinking about it.

are you fucking kidding me? I wish I could have heard x-kid live! Blessed unappreciative motherfuckers.

Posted

I dunno, I felt at the show I went to the crowd went wild when they heard the first few licks of "X-Kid."
