~ Walking Contradiction Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Adrienne just posted photo with title "Whatsername". I wonder if this really is THAT girl Hmm I doubt it, Whatsername is Amanda. I thought she moved to South America like 20 years ago plus I doubt Adie would meet her.
The Forgotten Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Adrienne just posted photo with title "Whatsername". I wonder if this really is THAT girl It's the actress who plays the current Whatsername in the musical

Heather. Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Hmm I doubt it, Whatsername is Amanda. I thought she moved to South America like 20 years ago plus I doubt Adie would meet her. It cracks me up that people think she actually moved to South America. She was in college and studied abroad for a semester, which a lot of American college students do. I highly doubt she stayed in Ecuador forever. And yes, as many have said, that is Alyssa DiPalma, she plays Whatsername in the musical.

Nishant1039 Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 And Maria. Maria Louise Fiatarone was a woman who owned a music store in Berkeley when Billie was a kid. When he was 4 years old, she and her husband saw his talent and they made him sing a song, Look For Love, and recorded it. She then 'interviewed' him. The woman who says 'Billie Joe! it certainly is exciting....' at the beginning of the song is Maria herself. He probably never saw her after he left Berkeley..hence the line 'And nobody knows where Maria went' And Gloria. She's probably just a character that Billie made up for the storyline of 21st Century Breakdwon

That being said, I feel like he must have seen her again since then... besides, it doesn't really sound like Maria is ABOUT that Maria, even if he used the name.

It likely just uses her name, since the majority of the song describes your typical punker that grew up and gave up their convictions.

Andrew Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 She's probably just a character that Billie made up for the storyline of 21st Century Breakdwon Even though Gloria is probably not a real person, she would have been influenced by real people. For example I think Mike said Last of the American Girls was about Adrienne, even though obviously in the story it is Gloria.

For example I think Mike said Last of the American Girls was about Adrienne, even though obviously in the story it is Gloria. Billie said he just really liked the name Gloria, and that she is basically himself. He said Viva la Gloria could have been called Viva la Billie Joe, but Gloria obviously sounds better

JDookie Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 and Olivia I think that Olivia could be Billie's mother (her name's Ollie, that could be the short for Olivia). AngelBlue_ Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 It's fuck time mentions Amanda too, she must have had an impact on billie joe yeah Amanda Jones xD I think that also "Ashley" can be seen as a reference to her...I mean...the lyrics seem to be about an old exgirlfriend...and about the moment in which they reconnect after a lot of years...in the Dos Booklet, next to the lyrics of Ashley , there's something like "How was your 20 years trip?". And Billie said in a recent interview that he had the chanche to reconnect and talk a little bit with Amanda after 20 years...so... *sorry for my English* Whoa!! How did you know that about Amanda/Whatsername? Crazy! Billie himself tweeted once about it
