TimmyChunks Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Here's how I met them: my wife and I were staying at a downtown hotel close to the arena and we knew immediately that's where Green Day was staying due to the tourbuses out front. We just hung out near the lobby and they all came down at separate times to board the bus. There weren't many fans around, and we got to chat and hang out with all of them briefly. I would say your best bet is to find out where they're staying- canvass all of the hotels near the arena and look for tour buses out front or nearby. This will be your best bet for approaching the band or their crew before the show. I would say that, based on personal experience, it would be a longshot at best to try to get their attention outside of or at the arena. Good luck man- if anyone deserves to meet them and give them your wonderful gifts, it's a truly hardcore fan such as yourself! And, not like I'm telling you anything you don't know, they are great to their fans and will absolutely be flattered if you can meet up with them outside their hotel. They were incredibly gracious to my wife and me and promised to play our wedding song (LNOE) back when they weren't playing it live yet. Lo and behold, they played it during the encore. Lifetime highlight...right up there with getting married and my son being born.
Asa. Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 First off I'd say give him the classic 1994 version. Second I suggest you stand out back where the buses park for awhile til you see someone who's with the band and give it to them and hope it makes it to Billie.
Rianne Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I read somewhere that they handed out passes at the Moline show. if they handed out passes at the Moline show, I completely missed that. But we all got to hear soundcheck, as we were allowed to wait inside.
Todd Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I'd say give him the 2013 version. It'll let him know that his fans stay with him form 1994 all the way up to today, and that we treasure every moment of green day, not just old green day
MaraGreenDay Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Wow, i hope you can give him the guitar, really, good luck!!!!

VisionsofGreenDay115 Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Let me just say you have BALLS to give such a precious guitar away....
musso_kn Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I didn't even realise there were different 'versions' of Blue. But, yeah, go for the original, the first is always the most special.
ThibautDookie Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I would say give him the 1996 version because maybe if you give him that guitar, he can remember this difficult part of Green Day and he can tell you some nice facts or never heard facts about that period ! OMG ! A free Blue guitar !!!!! I think that next Christmas, i'll get a 1996 Blue or a 1997 Blue, can't decide
Todd Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 It's andres *gasp* he's the mastermind I forgot it was April fools Fuck. Me too. I didn't even realise there were different 'versions' of Blue. But, yeah, go for the original, the first is always the most special. I don't think he makes an original version (lol, that'd be easy- no stickers!)
Anja Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 That is such a brilliant thing to do! I wish you all the best for it and hope it works out they way you want to. I would go for the 1994 version btw.
Lauren Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I say the new version because then people might think it's actually billie's guitar and get psyched when he gives it to them!
Overjoyyed Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I don't have any advise. But I wish you the best. You have great intentions so I am sure it's going to work out
Rusty Blue Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Wow! that's a really awesome idea!! I hope you will succeed doing it and I think you should give the 94 version Good Luck!
Jet Taman Posted April 2, 2013 Author Posted April 2, 2013 Making choices has never been a talent of mine. So Wednesday in Philly I'm taking the 94 version. Thursday in Fairfax I'm taking the 2013 version. MY OFFER IS STILL ON THE TABLE THAT IF ANYONE HELPS ME IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM TO GET A GUITAR TO BILLIE THAT I CAN GIVE TO HIM IN PERSON I WILL GIVE YOU A FREE GUITAR!!!
Strayheart1219 Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 That is so cool man. I hope you get to do this! I honestly don't see why it would be a problem to bring a guitar. oh and 2013 you should bring him because the 94 guitar you should just keep yourself.
Overjoyyed Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Maybe we can get the attention of the guys through Instagram. If a lot of people post about it I am sure it will happen. Mike is a good person to target. I'll post a picture of the guitars on my Instagram with a message my Instagram name is hapsqueekk search it and repost and tag all the bands user names along with it.
Overjoyyed Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Search #greendaycommunity and repost! Lets make this happen!
LPbilliejr Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Only you would attempt to do something this awesome... Make it happen...
Jet Taman Posted April 2, 2013 Author Posted April 2, 2013 Search #greendaycommunity and repost! Lets make this happen! Thanks for your support!
iScottie Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Excellent idea! I would definitely give away the 1994 version because like others have stated, it's the most well-known, and plus that was the very same one you saw from the start of your Green Day career. Very nice to see you giving back!
Nuclear Family Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Well, I think I'm going to the same show as you man... (Fairfax - VA, right?) What if we started a chant or an attention-getting "hey-oh, look at this billie joe!" from within the line as we're waiting to get in? You could hold the replica above the rest of the crowd and maybe get their attention. I guess that would only work if they were walking around near us... but its the principle of the thing. We should get the whole crowd involved!
