Definately 21st Century Breakdown. Other greats would include American Idiot, Let Yourself Go and Brutal Love.

I think 99 Revolutions is good as is, but my second choice would probably be Troublemaker. It's just kind of a good song to start to get the crowd moving.

Welcome to paradise,Going to pasalaqcua,2000 light years away, Don't Leave me and Armatage Shanks.

I'd like if they try something completely different; like Baby Eyes. Having 37 must be hard to choose 1 :P although Nuclear Family would be great too.

// A lot of people will agree that Brutal Love is the greatest closer for this tour. Period :toocool:

I like Welcome to Paradise. I don't think 99 Revolutions is a good opener, more like almost closer.

Let Yourself Go or Stop When the Red Lights Flash.

One that i think that should be played as an opening would have to be Chump or Uptight, it would be different as usual but I think that it would be nice !

Definately Welcome to Paradise although Panic Song or Armatage Shanks would be fucking awesome too

I've seen them open shows with eight different songs. Nothing captures the band's energy or sets the tempo for the show quite like Welcome to Paradise.

i think 99 Revolutions is a good one, essentially you need a song that has the booming drums and a good build up to psych everyone up!

When I saw them on Dookie tour they opened up with "Going to Pasalacqua". I love the build up of the hammer on at the very beginning as the crowd gets louder and louder. Then finally the definitive A chord with Billie singing "Here we go again!!" Perfect opener.

Loss of Control would be a good opening song I think. the into of the song is just some drums with a couple strummed chords. billie screams that one word and the full band comes in and everyone goes crazy about 10 seconds before the first actual words of the song.

or I think it would be cool to play of montage of songs over the speakers emulating someone is changing the station on a radio (like the beginning of EJN). the song clips they can use could be song of the century, see you tonight, and nightlife (not playing the whole song of each, but just short clips of them) then on the final static sound of changing the radio you hear lo-fi sound of the beginning for dirty rotten bastards. all of this in complete darkness or with a curtain up in front of the stage. once the band comes into DRB (about 14 into the recorded track) there is a huge blast of pyro while the curtain falls revealing the full band playing the rest of the song. this would visually show the band is coming out of the radio live in front of you.

I REALLY like the second idea. That would be fucking awesome.

I would love to see Desensitized as the first song.

that....would....be....amazing. My band actually has a song and the intro sounds sort of like desensitized and we use that as an opener

I think 99 Revs is a great song to start with. Not my favourite from the trilogy, but an awesome song to get pumped too!

I'm not exactly partial to Breakdown, but the title track is definitely the best opener.

21stCB was a really, really good opener. But nothing tops Welcome to Paradise as an opener. Too bad they changed that with 99 Revolutions. :(

Wow! That's Loud would be perfect.

21st Century Breakdown is such an awesome opener in my opinion! There's also the part before "we are the class of, the class of 13" when Billie can talk (shout) to the crowd. It work pretty damn well in the 21stCBD tour!

But I think 99 Revolution fits greatly as well.

I liked American Idiot as an opener a lot (from the concerts I've seen) because it just has so much energy and it gets the crowd going! Although I think it makes a great start for the encore as well like it did on the last tour.

I liked Song of the Century/21st Century Breakdown a lot too, actually I like any intro as an opener because it builds up the excitement cause you can literally count down to the second the band hits the stage! Which is why I would love to see how See you tonight/Nuclear Family is as an opener.

Actually, it's easier to say that it doesn't matter much as long as they open at all :P

I'm a big fan of Maria as an opener. The track is just dripping with energy, and has a great buildup to things going nuts at "turn on the flame, step on the gas".

21CB was kind of an odd opener, but it worked. The structure of the track still makes me think that Billie Joe listened to Bohemian Rhapsody about fifteen times right before composing it, and it does kind of feel like opening a Queen concert with Bohemian Rhapsody would have. Not bad, but odd, especially considering how many other potential openers were on 21CB (KYE, EJN, Horseshoes and Handgrenades).

Agreed- having been in the same boat (and many of the same shows), I can say with certainty that no other opener whips the crowd into a frenzy like Welcome to Paradise. Pasalacqua would be my personal 2nd favorite opener. For most tours that I remember they tended to lead with the first track of the latest album, which is why I am so surprised they're not going with Nuclear Family right now, especially given how solid of an opener I think it would be.

I like Nuclear Family as an album opener. As a show opener, it doesn't really scream to me though. I dunno, I guess it begins too abruptly? On the other hand, I can't really think of a better trilogy song to use. 99 Revs works in the way that Maria worked on the Pop Disaster tour, and I really liked that.

I prefer the idea of bands starting their gigs with a really fast/heavier song. That way the crowd is really hyped straight away. Thus two songs I would put forward would either be Platypus or Best Thing In Town, neither have really been played live that much and if either was played the crowd would just go insane.

However I really do like the idea of panic song, the long intro would make it a brilliant opeining song and it would build up the tension perfectly. You could then follow it with any faster heavier song and it would be perfect.

And NOBODY has said ¿Viva la Gloria? (Little Girl) yet. As much as I wouldn't like it, it would be a kick ass opener. It has that twisted funky beat like you took nightlife and misery and crumpled it together, and the piano intro is awesome.

I'd totally go for 2,000 Light Years Away. Would be a great opening riff to get people pumped (or well, at least me  )
