Todd Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 They played Good Riddance for the first time in at least a year tonight, so there's that... 1 year? More like 5 and a half months
Awesompawsome Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Ermagerd how the fuck did I end up on nickelback community
Slave To The Network Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Is this seriously still going on? THEY WILL PLAY IT EVENTUALLY! Just give them some time to get back into things. It's not everyday that Green Day has had to readjust from Billie Joe being in rehab and everything. I love 21 Guns as much as the next person here (I swear I've seen the music video over 500 times:shy: ), but I'm not worried about them not playing it again. It will happen. We just need to be patient. If there are any typos or weird language in this then I apologize. I just had a few drinks and a huge shot of whiskey so... yeah...
tdlyon Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 1 year? More like 5 and a half months Don't think they played it at any of the small club gigs they did leading up to the trilogy, which started recording over a year ago. I really think it's been at least a year...

tdlyon Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 7 months last played 09/01/2012 in Germany also was played during the Paris shows as well Ah, ok. I stand corrected.
watchmefade92 Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 The way Billie Joe acts on stage is exactly the same as it was before therapy, so why should rehab have had an impact on the choice of the songs. There are various possible reasons for the removal and we don't really know Billie Joe and the rest of the band, what's inside their heads. I think it's too simple to blame the rehab for everything.
ThranaM Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Seems like the got back Good Riddance yesterday, but what about Wake Me Up When September Ends? They should bring it back!

Actually...you are wrong. Billie is different on stage now. He is NOTICEABLY a lot happier.
ColinOr Posted June 5, 2013 Author Posted June 5, 2013 It's still not been played. I get the impression they're giving it a rest this tour so people have more incentive to see them next tour to hear hits they didn't get to hear this tour.
Slave To The Network Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 I must say, I am really missing 21 Guns. The way Billlie sings it is so beautiful and among my favorite songs.
Red Lights Flash Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 It's still not been played. I get the impression they're giving it a rest this tour so people have more incentive to see them next tour to hear hits they didn't get to hear this tour. I think they just don't feel like playing those kind of ballads anymore. 21 Guns is really a downright depressing song, and it probably doesn't fit in the frame of mind that they're currently in. (They do play Brutal Love, but that song has a completely different vibe imo)
Cruise Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Here's the thing. You guys want more trilogy song, but you still want the classics. That is what they are trying to do, but to do that they need to remove some of the classic songs from the play list, otherwise they would be totally out of it by the end of the night. You just cannot have everything and sacrifices need to be made. So hence these songs have been taken out of regular play, they will be back at some point but right now they want a balance and that is what they are trying to do. I have never been that fond of 21 guns so it lack of appearance hasn't bothered me. However I would like Good Riddance to be in it, but its not and in fact it may even make the concerts better as they are more energised, and fun.
Spoopy Doo Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 I'm honestly quite content that they haven't been playing it. I'm not gonna rant, but I don't personally think it's a fantastic song. Don't see the need for brain stew to be there now also I Agree. I love Brain Stew so much, but I wish they'd play the lesser-known songs (i.e. Armatage Shanks; Bab's Uvula Who?; Tight Wad Hill) live with or instead of it.
HolyHandGrenade Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 You know what, I miss WMUWSE. And 21 Guns. And Good Riddance. And Last Night on Earth. And basically anything they played acoustic Misery, where art thou?
StuckWithInsomnia Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Its important they stick to the songs everyone knows, Good Riddance is perhaps their most known song, and 21 Guns is up there too. But they should play new stuff as well, its songs like St. Jimmy and Letterbomb that don't need to be played as much. We don't need to hear that much American Idiot. Also recently Brain Stew hasn't been getting played and they aren't even playing any other songs from Insomniac instead of it. They should play at least 1 song from every album that isn't Dookie, American Idiot or Uno Dos Tre.
tvrman Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 There is only one solution; Green Day need to MTFU and move to 4 hour shows.
BCap Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Haven't been to a show yet, but I've heard that they don't ALWAYS play "Minority" anymore - and that's supposed to be one of their most popular songs live!

And Good Riddance. And WMUWSE. They have like five million songs, they can't play them all every night. They played Sassafras Roots at Wembley for crying out loud. I'd take that over 21 Guns every day of the week.
Guest Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Haven't been to a show yet, but I've heard that they don't ALWAYS play "Minority" anymore - and that's supposed to be one of their most popular songs live! They dropped it for four shows during the 2010 amphitheater tour (Phoenix, Chula Vista, Shoreline, Venezuela). Beyond that, they've played it damn near every night for 14 years straight.
GTI Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Just a hunch here, but Fuck Time started life as a FBHT song. The Rev is gone, and I doubt Billie Joe wants to bring back a song that came out of that side of himself. They played Fuck Time at the Fairfax show, I was there!
That Dude Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Like Mike said in that new interview, they just have so many songs, and it's hard to pick what songs make it. "It's a good problem to have." He mentioned When I Come Around and Longview, about how they are huge hits and he realized they hadn't been playing them on the new tour.
