HolyHandGrenade Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 2-3 hours is a fuckin godsend be fuckin grateful I live 25 minutes away from Allstate
Guest Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 BOBD is a lot better than 21 Guns, is not the same Acoustic intro, 4 chords. Chunky chorus riff. Verse chorus verse ad infinitum. Melody line guitar solo. Acoustic guitars coming back into the chorus after the solo. Yep. Not the same.
HolyHandGrenade Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 I don't care much for 21 guns, it's good but not great. I will however miss Good Riddance, overplayed or not, it's a lovely way to end a show. I wonder what they might be replacing it with? They replaced it with Brutal Love
Sarcasm Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 Actually I'm indifferent, if they play it, I'll ramble along to the few lines I can remember. I got tired of the song when it was added to GDA right before the album itself was released. It's not a bad song, but it's so standard, and since I never got into the Christian/Gloria thing I can't say I have a relationship with the song.

deadair Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 Although I don't care much about Good Riddance, It's kind of sad that there are no Nimrod songs in the setlist any more. They still played King For A Day, but yeah Hitchin' A Ride would have been welcome. It was one of the highlights when I saw GD in 2009.Because they're playing BOBD and they didn't want the same song twice on the setlist anymore. They're both ballads, the structures bear some slight resemblance to each other, but they're not the same song! BOBD ends on a riff and 21 Guns ends on a chorus. 21 Guns has a bridge too (Did you try to live on your own...). Point being, both of them should be in the set, in my opinion.

It was a joke, but you can see my point. It's a tad more than a slight resemblance.
Maddy. Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 21 guns was quite nice live and i distinctly remember having an emotion and i would like it if they played it again if i ever see them again

Jean Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 For people who have seen them multiple times, I can see the lack of certain songs not bothering them since they've seen them played live before but for people who are seeing them for the first time, not hearing those songs may be a bit disappointing.

Green Day has enough major hits to fill up a whole set. It just doesn't work like that (thank God). I would freak out if they played absolutely no trilogy songs yesterday
VisionsofGreenDay115 Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 So glad they ditched 21 Guns. Good song, but they have such better songs.
Lauren Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 Things I don't understand: People complaining/giving bad opinions on the setlist. What I don't get is, we've waited so long for this tour after a big hurdle, and all a lot of people are doing is complain. You do know Green Day didn't need to do this right? I mean, if it's any indication, there could have been more cancelled dates until god knows when, and it wouldn't have mattered over Billie's health. So green day is allowed to take our money and not give us our money's worth? I think we have every right to complain if we're paying for it! After all, their job is to entertain us. It's so boring if everyone agrees with them 100% of the time. There would be no discussion, and GDC wouldn't exist because what's the point in going to a forum where everyone loves every song they wrote the same and never complains about something a member said or something? it's not like we hate green day, jeez.
GaxnorianLiberator Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 Writing bitch multiple times about your ex based on her musical preference doesn't make you sound very credible. She cheated on me multiple times hence why I call her a bitch. Not her musical taste. If that isn't a valid reason then I don't know what is.
Slave To The Network Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 I think it's just a matter of time before they play it. They definitely will I'm almost positive, but not every show.

Oh, I'm not saying we hate Green Day by doing so, and while I grant you about paying for goods/services and not being universally satisfied, that's understandable, but have you not considered that as entitlement? Here's my perspective: we're lucky to even get shows and if setlists are this big a deal to a lot of people, I think you may have a lot more to think about that just music choice. At the end of the day, it's a Green Day show, and it's still very exciting. No more, no less. This is the point: that couldn't have happened if things continued as they did, hell we're even lucky Billie even went to rehab instead of ending up worse. Yet here they are, all well, and on the go. I think that should be the focus, because if not, you'll get cancelled shows, and your money brought back to you. Simple. Also, remember, fans are the most entitled beings on the face of the earth (imo), as they are extremely difficult to please since a lot of them don't see the true value in something unless it goes their way.
Guest Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 21 Guns could not have been disposed of soon enough. I'm also glad to see Good Riddance dropped in favor of Brutal Love. I do hope Minority disappears during this tour as well, honestly, to make room for a new closer.
WhiteTim Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 She cheated on me multiple times hence why I call her a bitch. Not her musical taste. If that isn't a valid reason then I don't know what is. So you call her a bitch cause she cheated on you? Maybe if you were doing your job as a man and was pleasing her she wouldn't had to cheat... (I kid I kid... kinda)
tomdsjames Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 There are quite a few songs missing from the setlist that charted higher than 21 Guns (at least in the UK): Welcome to Paradise (played 29/03 but missing 28/03) Geek Stink Breath, Stuck With Me, Jaded, Hitchin A Ride, Good Riddance, Redundant, Warning, Waiting, Wake Me Up When September Ends. Suppose it all depends on which era you became a fan. I'm not that fussed about it being dropped but I guess I would rather see 21 Guns live than King For A Day again.
Hermione Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 I think Boulevard Of Broken Dreams pretty much does the same job as 21 Guns live, and of the two songs I prefer BOBD, so it doesn't bother me at all. They had to get rid of some songs to make room for new ones, getting rid of one that doesn't have any special traditions attached to it and that's role is covered by another song was a good choice.Good Riddance on the other hand...well I love Brutal Love but Good Riddance is the perfect goodbye singalong ending . Would've rather they cut a more replaceable traditionless song like When I Come Around or Holiday instead.

The hype of 21 Guns is insane for a song that was not as successful as others.
MaraGreenDay Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 Well i have to say that i really wish that they keep playing 21 Guns, i never see them live and since the last tour, hearing 21 guns live was one of my dreams same with Good Riddance, i really miss that song, i hope that with time they added to the setlist, but, who knows...

Thats what everyone seems to be doing. We are a fan-base. We are here to enjoy the music. The band does what they want. There are two groups in this scenario. The band and the fans. Both make their own choices and do things they want to do. Fans on here complain about the setlist. Green Day, the band, play the songs they want to play. I dont think they play all those songs to piss us off because they have been playing them for so long now and its getting old, they play them because they want to, because thats what they enjoy doing. Also, think about rehearsing the songs. Yeah, they have had all these months to rehearse but I feel all these months has gone straight to Billie's health. Green Day didn't matter until Billie was okay. They got ready for Pomona with the songs they knew best, they played those shows and promoted Cuatro, then they went home and enjoyed their families before it was time to hit the arena's. If you know the setlist and complain, then why do you buy the tickets and still complain?
