Lauren Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 It's different in Green Day's case.Their singles give no idea at all about the album sound It's been this way forever.Look at Uno for example.Oh Love is such a different song from other album tracks. And they called it so because it sounds nice.'Uno Dos Tre World Tour' is too big a name. And you can definately not call it Oh Love Tour or X-Kid Tour.It also indicates that the band has something special planned for 99 revolutions.Billie said it's one of the best songs he has ever written. About the band being political:I think they wanted to do this political stuff only once. They did it the second time because there was a lot of demand for it.They have already got rid of this image of theirs.Only American Idiot,Holiday,East Jesus Nowhere and 21st Century Breakdown are political single. So that makes it 4 out of 30 singles they ever released. THAT IS WHAT I WAS SAYING! That the singles don't give the listeners the right idea about Green Day. That's my point. I am saying 99 Revolutions is an okay song, and a video would promote the tour, but at the same time it will HURT Green Day because people are sick of them being political. You have to understand that no one buys albums anymore. They buy singles on iTunes (if they even buy music at all). The singles are what get played on the radio. They're what get the music videos. I'm saying by naming the tour after that song (which is a fun song, but not a "great" song -- it's WAY too repetitive and annoying; a great ear-catcher, but a song you get sick of after hearing so many times), making it a single, making it a music video, etc. -- it will make people think that's what Green Day is, when they are so much more than that. I would have loved to hear a song like Rusty James or ¡Viva la Gloria! be a single/music video.
MaterialDiamond Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 We NEED a video for Dirty Rotten Bastards guys, I'm just so curious as to what that video would look like
The Grohl Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 It would be nice and since they're on tour maybe...but I doubt it

I would have loved to hear a song like Rusty James or ¡Viva la Gloria! be a single/music video. Rusty James and Viva la Gloria are the kind of songs that are good but would not be good singles, just like Dirty Rotten Bastards, which happens to be the best on Tre but would really be a good single.A single is something the record label decides.99 revolutions was annoying for me when I heard it for the first time, but it has grown on me lately.Yes I do agree that people are more interested in singles from itunes. This is not good for the music industry. Now, why would artists like to work their ass off for a year and release a full length album when they can make double the money by putting in a quarter of an effort?Yes,this trend is not good, but it shall change. The last Green Day song that recieved appreciable airplay was Oh Love, and before that 21 Guns.Only 1-2 songs from each album get good airplay, that is the promoted ones.More you promote the song, more airplay, and bigger the hit. That's the reason even shit like beauty and the beat reach the top of the charts.
LisaBJA Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 I don't think so, because they will go on tour soon But I hope that they will make a new video for Dirty Rotten Bastards, that would be awesome
itz_brittany87 Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 I really hope they make a video for Brutal Love. I actually had a dream and I thought it was the perfect music video for it haha. Pretty much Green Day all dressed up in 1940's style band playing in a large elegant ballroom with a large brass band Billie had Elvis hair too. Man, that was a crazy dream. Love this idea! Maybe add a story line along it or just a performance video?
70 Times 7 Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 I used to think MTV stood for Mature Televison...
DannyDirnt Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Never got into them for their political singles, but for old singles like Welcome to Paradise. Having heard Poprocks & Coke first.
timbojones Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 I really dont see Warner/Reprise giving this commerical car crash of a trilogy any more promotion funding, I think the whole project has already been consigned to the dumpster in their eyes. It doesnt deserve this obviously, the trilogy is (for the most part) awesome and has some great potential singles. But logically what business will fund promoion on albums that have already been out for months and suffered so many setbacks. Its far more likely that any money that was going to be spent on videos will now go to promoting a new Flo Rida single *shudders*
disappearing_boy_39 Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 It's not too late for some more videos. ¡Tré! was just released Dec. 7, 2012. Let's look at the Past: American Idiot was release 9/21/2004. Jesus of Suburbia video premiered more than a year later on 11/14/2005 ...Breakdown was released 5/15/2009. LOTAG video premiered close to a year later on 4/1/2010 I'd bet my money they make one for 99 Revolutions. I think Missing You and X-Kid also have hit potential. It's a shame Stay The Night never got a proper video. I think that song could have been a big hit.
Gmg44 Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Love this idea! Maybe add a story line along it or just a performance video? Hmm good question. I think I'd prefer just the band and doing what they do best. Maybe have Green Day start playing the song in a huge empty ballroom and have it slowly fill up with the crowd checking them out, or maybe have it stay empty? It's such an awesome song and, to me, is quite elegant. I can't get the image out of my head. It's usually in black and white too haha.
DirtyRottenForgotten Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 They're done with Uno! They have the video for Oh Love, Kill the DJ. They have Troublemaker, Stay the Night and Nuclear Family which are just really cool videos of them playing in the studio. There are official live videos for Stay the Night and Let Yourself Go. Obviously they won't make any more videos for Uno. I'm aware that Uno has a ton of videos and they are all pretty good. But I'd love if they had released those videos more openly seeing as most people are unaware of most. Would have loved a video for Rusty James or Angel Blue. But oh well... Would love to see more from Dos though.

I can imagine people slow dancing in the background or something like that. We should direct the video ourselves!
gd86arg Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I definately would say that It's not too late and these albums deserve at least two more singles and videos. my choices are Lazybones and nightlife from Dos And Missing You and Walk away from Tre. love your taste! lol :3
momoluvGD Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Unfortunately, I doubt it. The albums are no longer new. There's no need to make videos for old albums, as much as we would like that.
Jon Benjamin Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Unfortunately, I doubt it. The albums are no longer new. There's no need to make videos for old albums, as much as we would like that. WMUWSE came out in 2005 so it's not out of the question.
StuckWithInsomnia Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 And Nice Guys Finish Last came out in 1999. New video for X-Kid I guess, but it should be released as a proper single not just a radio single. Otherwise another song from Dos would be good, Wow Thats Loud could have a good video.
X-Kid-X Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Unfortunately, I doubt it. The albums are no longer new. There's no need to make videos for old albums, as much as we would like that. Umm if I'm not mistaken both the videos for Wake Me Up When September Ends and Jesus of Suburbia were released a year after American Idiot was released.
