musso_kn Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 The full article isn't there yet. Someone will posts the scans fortunately as I can't bring myself to actually buy NME. I might buy NME, but I probably will only read the interview with Mike, and I'll avoid at all costs their poncy, exaggerated reviews regarding some 'hot, new indie band' that no one will give a shit about in a decade's time.
stuart_and_the_ave Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 I've just bought it Not read it yet but the interview is 2.5 pages (last page is mostly a picture) I'll post scans when I get home so about 4hrs There are interviews with most of the Reading/Leeds bands and they have about half a page or less each and Green Day has 2.5 lol

stuart_and_the_ave Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Scans There are 2 scans for each page because NME is bigger than A4 and my scanner couldn't fit it on 1 page
Slave To The Network Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 AWESOME! I have the Billie Joe Rolling Stone issue, now I need to get this too! Where do you get NME magazines? I don't think I've ever found one before.
nothing_wrong_with_me Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Thank you so much!! I feel so happy after reading this! Mike is so positive, and the best part was when he says that Billie is in a good place now. Maybe everything that happened was really a blessing because things finally changed and now everything is better and they are a lot happier and they really appreciate what they have.
Andrew Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Nice to see Biffy saying good things about them. Interviewer seems like a dick though, but he works for NME so no surprise really.
HolyHandGrenade Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 They spelled Quatro... I mean Cuatro wrong! A lot of the stuff says about Billie seems paraphrased from the RS article. That's to be expected, I guess.
Anja Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Thank you Emily! I really enjoyed reading it. The image of 90-year-old Billie and 90-year-old Mike sitting on a bench together sounds just too perfect and romantic.
BazingaofSuburbia Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Thank you so much for the scans :'D Mike is so awesome, I have a lot of respect for him. The 'this is like two old friends running into each other on a park bench. I hope we can do that when we're 90' made me choke up a bit Billie is so lucky to have friends like that And Biffy Clyro saying them things about Green Day makes me like them even more
Annie, get your gun Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Thank you for the scans!! I'll read it later
timbojones Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Mike/NME seem to have forgotten that green day also played reading and leeds in 2001...

I don't think I've ever found one before. You can buy it in most supermarkets/newsagents in the UK. I have no idea about outside the UK
Slave To The Network Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 You can buy it in most supermarkets/newsagents in the UK. I have no idea about outside the UK Oh... it's a UK magazine? God, I need to pay attention to these things more.
Ritz Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 That was a great interview. They seem so excited about the tour!
Tubbie Head Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Scans There are 2 scans for each page because NME is bigger than A4 and my scanner couldn't fit it on 1 page thank you very much for this! :D
Guest Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Really cool of Biffy to be giving them a shout out like that. I remember they said in an interview they saw them back in 1993 before Dookie came out, the lucky bastards.
Hermione Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Thanks for the scans! Added to the OP.Good interview, he seems to have such a determined and positive attitude towards the future and it's great to hear. Always nice to hear another musician singing Green Day's praises too!Mike/NME seem to have forgotten that green day also played reading and leeds in 2001...I think it probably just didn't happen to come up in the conversation because it wasn't a "first" like the others (first timing playing there, first time headlining, first secret show).
Drop Dead Hideous Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Good read. Thanks for the scans. Somewhat this made me excited for reading/leeds even though there is no chance I'll be there
stories and songs Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 I feel so great after reading that. It means a lot to hear Mike say that he's not worried about a relapse because Billie is in a good place, and that they're just going to be extra careful with backstage goings-on. Addiction is just so scary - it never goes away, and has a chance of tempting you back into your old ways at any given moment. And you know, the guys got back out on the road very fast, which made me a bit nervous. But this interview compounded with the fantastic shows they've been putting on make me feel so much better about the whole thing. I'll never not worry, because that's just how I am. But this is a great interview and it makes me feel a huge sense of relief.
