tvrman Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 If they are headliners does that mean they will not play any other UK shows according to some contract for headliners? I'm sure there's some rule about that so more people buy tickets for the festival rather than seeing them on tour Despite what people write everywhere, there are no golden rules. Events may or may not request conditions depending on who the band is, how much they are paying, etc, etc. As we do not know the contractual agreement between GD and the RL organisers we cannot second guess.
Vermillion Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 It means theyre unlikely to do any more shows in England until early 2014. Still very possible something will be announced in Scotland and/or Ireland for the Summer though.

Ok thanks for the reply! It's hard to know whether to go for the Emirates, Reading/Leeds or wait for other dates!
dangreenday Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Just booked both Leeds And Reading Day ticks for this !!!! HELL YEAHHH
IsaGreenDay Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 That's awesome! I'm so happy for the people who are going AND for the band! Let's see them killing it again, guys.
CemeteryDrive Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Why am I so poor when good news is announced?! This is the first Leeds I've wanted to go to for years and I bet I wont be able to go. Awesome news for anybody that's going though they were so good in '04.
dangreenday Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 yeah i still remember 04 like it was yesterday ! Amazing performance
lhutton93 Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 I had exactly the same choice to make only it was to go to Leeds for the weekend with my friend or both of them on my own. I went with Green Day. I made the right choice. I was tempted to do this last year for Foo Fighters. I worked it all out, had friends that were going to be at both so I would of only been alone for the travelling, and the thing that got to me was the cost and I decided against it and went to Reading for the whole wkend. Turned out to be the best choice for me. I'm glad I did the full festival wkend. I enjoyed seeing different bands more than spending a whole day on trains. I think I'm going to go to Reading for the weekend. My friend really wants to go but won't come with me if I go to Reading + Leeds and I think it'll be a little cheaper to go to Reading for the weekend (less travel costs!). But it would be really awesome to see Green Day two days in a row so you're super lucky Dirty Rotten Bastard! Just need to figure out what to do about work now :/ I work weekends so I need to try and get it off but I have a feeling I won't be able to :/ I was thinking of leaving at the end of September anyway so I might have to leave mid-August instead!
-Billiejoezee- Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 This is going to be a great festival! Was just telling my boyfriend about this because he loved Eminem.
tomdsjames Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Reading/Leeds Fest gets loads of TV coverage! Last time Green Day headlined in 2004 it propelled American Idiot (the single, not album) to number 3 on the UK chart. Headliners usually get featured on Itunes homepage as well closer to the festival dates. This is really good for them.
Zach Perron Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Having Green Day and Eminem headlining is Amazing! Two of my all time favorite's at one festival is Incredible, plus SOAD, Deftones, Frank Turner, The Lumineers, NIN, Jake Bugg, and NFG make's it the festival legendary is my book! With that said, i'm positive that Green Day's gonna own the 2013 Reading/Leeds Festival!
scottrowan200 Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 they may play bellahouston park in Glashow .. they are doing a series of outdoo0r gigs in august and so far the first act is eminem funny enough ..... i think the next will be green day
dangreenday Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 when is that show ??? i may have to make the trip if they do play it
Dirnt_y Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 I've been to Reading Festivals the past 4 years. Each year hoping that Green Day will headline. Got a beautiful moment last year where they did a 'surprise' show in the afternoon. Great I thought. This fifth year will be the last for me and my friends. We all said we would do it and then get tattoos. And who is to headline our 5 last year? Green Day. Epic. Thank you Green Day for the perfect timing and great end to an era.
Lauren17 Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Every year they're rumoured to headline and it's finally true! Dirnt_y - love your sig pic btw it was the best night ever!
dangreenday Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 to both of the above .... Hell yes that really was the best night ever - ive hardly seen any pics from that show either ! ... i booked my reading and leeds tiks last night too - SUPER EXCITED !

Radio One covers it a lot too and the day after they play performances from it non-stop, so it couldn't be better

ClaireLouise11 Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Got my weekend ticket for Leeds, surprised, as they normally sell out pretty fast don't they? Green Day, Fall Out Boy, Frank Turner, BMTH. This is going to be EPIC.
