RudyCan'tFail Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 I WAS RIGHT. YOU ALL DOUBTED ME. I KNEW IT. Ticket bought.
Tubbie Head Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Bastille on the same as GD, I would be happy to see them.
The Grohl Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 No way! That's awesome! Now I wish I had money to travel to England
Lauren17 Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 omg i'm so psyched! totally did not have my finger on the pulse and that announcement blind sided me.. in the best possible way!
GuitarPunk94 Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 i hope this means more 'real' shows in Germany around this time (rock'n'heim?) are the headliners of reading/leeds allowed to play different own shows in the UK ?
Lauren17 Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 i heard from somewhere once that bands aren't allowed headline reading and have a tour in the same year. i could be wrong though, don't even remember where i heard it there's also a good chance i will be going to the show on my own, so hoping there are some lovely idiots i can hang out with all day at main stage!
Guest Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Currently trying to think of a way to get the money to go to Reading. I can't not go, it's just not right. I've never seen GD or been to Reading so it'll be awesome if I did go. Soon, my precious. Soon...

Not true I've seen a fair few bands that have headlined and toured in the same year. Its just they aren't allowed to play dates for so long either side of the festival to not detract ticket sales. Or least that is what I've read. I'm super excited by this, they were brilliant in the NME tent last year. Now I know I get to see them at least twice this year
EgocentricPlasticSam Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 So fucking happy I could cry! I bought my ticket last night with no idea my favorite band would be playing! Plus Mike mentioned on the Radio 1 interview about Dookie front to back (can only dream of that happening)

lhutton93 Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Thinking maybe I could go to see them in Reading then in Leeds the day after. Would have to go alone though :/
Dirty Rotten Bastard Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Thinking maybe I could go to see them in Reading then in Leeds the day after. Would have to go alone though :/ I'm doing that!
lhutton93 Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 I'm doing that! Awesome! I'm very tempted to do it! The only thing is it would end up costing the same as just going to Reading for the weekend and if I go to Reading for the weekend my friend will come with me. If I go to Reading + Leeds I'll have to go alone :/ But then I would get to see Green Day twice :/ I'm too indecisive!! haha

I went with Green Day. I made the right choice.

I worked it all out, had friends that were going to be at both so I would of only been alone for the travelling, and the thing that got to me was the cost and I decided against it and went to Reading for the whole wkend. Turned out to be the best choice for me. I'm glad I did the full festival wkend. I enjoyed seeing different bands more than spending a whole day on trains.
Soo Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 The fact that Green Day have been confirmed for this festival in August makes me think there is a much better chance of them being announced as headliners for the Oxegen Festival in Ireland too (Which is also in August). They have no Irish date yet and they never skipped Ireland before. I was wondering if they might be on the line up for Tennents Vital as it is around that time in August I think and the Foos headlined it last year aswell as Reading & Leeds! Also, Glasgow Summer Sessions is around then and the first headliner they have announced is Eminem.
Vermillion Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Just need to convince my girlfriend to come to Leeds now.
StuckWithRob Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 If they are headliners does that mean they will not play any other UK shows according to some contract for headliners? I'm sure there's some rule about that so more people buy tickets for the festival rather than seeing them on tour
Niamh. Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 I nearly died when I heard the announcements! First time I'll get to see Green Day ahhhh!
Hermione Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 I'm not going (and fingers crossed for more proper shows still ), but yay for people who are going! So nice to think they'll be over here killing it at the top of the bill of such a massively big and popular event. Looking forward to seeing footage too.
Guest Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Me thinks I'm gunna have to hold out to see if they do a proper UK tour. I can't afford £100+ to see them for like, an hour. But happy times for those who are going, hope you have fun!
